i used to work in 2 elder care homes. the stuff i witnessed was crazy. the craziest thing was i told the management about the bruises and other stuff i had seen and i got fired. i was like wtf??!! i do private cases now an it is better.

Think about it..they've raised you, they fed you, they gave you shelter and education...and, as your endless gratitude towards your senior parents, all that you can offer to them in return is a shabby 3mx5m room far away from all those things and people that they hold dear?? Oh, I guess it's not that bad since you're still visiting them for an hour a month...

@letmetellyouwhatsup addition to that, many ULP, PCT, CNAs and etc. get hindered by not only the demanding patients but from the nurses, patient's family members, other co-workers (PTAs, Social workers, activity coordinators, speech therapiest, and more.) It's sad actually. But don't get me wrong, that it is Ok for them to go ahead and abuse whomever they feel like to do so, just because the victims can't defend themselves.

It's sad actually. But don't get me wrong, that it is Ok for them to go ahead and abuse whomever they feel like to do so, just because the victims can't defend themselves.

I work as a carer in a nursing home, and the reason for this was after caring for my own grandmother and grandfather after a series of strokes, I wished to help other elders.I work with various Indians and pakistanis, who are all christian who all look after there own family, so your muslim comment is invalid, you racist.

I was in CNA training and there is no way..no way..no WAY in hell I would ever let this happen. I was terrified of just turning them over for fear of hurting their fagil skin. Those men and women are men and women who I respected every day. I gained respect from every resident I cared for because I treated them with utmost respect and dignity. You bet I got swore at and threatened and cleaned up bad messes, but these people are people and they need care.

and abuse like this happens to this day in nursing homes all over the U.S and no one cares for some reason. i dont understand why. these people deserve respect they have lived long and very productive lives. I used to work in a nursing home and i've seen some horrible things, i dont work there no more i had the choice to leave. These elderly people dont have that choice its gotta be stopped and it starts with one person making a STAND.

In defence of the care aides...Many elderly folks are combative and would lye in their own excrement nor wash or bathe if it wasn't for the staff who with stands there own abuse via being hit , scratched and swore at. As to the care giver putting what seems to be powder in her mouth WTF!!!! Many families don't want to be bothered with caring for Mom or Dad but make excellent critics forgetting what Mom and Dad were like prior to long term care. Time to get real....on both sides.
