Anti-choice people want to mandate death to a different egg and pretend they're god. They also want to give preferrential rights to a potential future person and make a full grown woman a second class citizen, a procreation slave.
If personhood begins at conception, then have the mother of the unborn child file for "Voluntary Termination of Parental Rights". The fetus would become a "ward of the state", and the state would have to take custody of the fetus. So abortion would still be legal!
Abortion is a choice that should be used sparingly. Many people want to see everything as black or white, when we live in a grey world. Moving to give women ways to avoid pregnancy, is the best choice. In the meantime, the mother should be the one to decide and the state should provide a safe abortion. This is not a perfect solution but it is about the best we are going to get.
All of this stuff about religion dictating state legislation. I believe people have completely forgotten the real purpose of religion. Religion was never meant to be used as a weapon to enforce policies. It was meant to be a moral guideline and path to personal enlightenment. Religious groups who try to attack legislation and force their religion upon others have either deliberately overstretched their religion or forgotten this. Worse, maybe both. No wonder religious belief is declining.
I hope it passes in every red state. because that would mean that most of the women in those states would move to blue states, increasing our electoral vote and reduce theirs.
They should just leave people alone, no one forces you to have an abortion, no on should be able to force you not too. You just can't force religion on people, thats not how democracy works.
