The main lead is Rika Furude. Rika gets into a car accident after coming home from the swimming pool with her friends.

When she wakes up, she finds herself in a world that she has never been in; a perfect world where nothing went wrong. Rika at first appears happy with this, in spite of feeling that all her struggles to fix the world were useless. However, without the tragedies having happened in the past, club activities never existed, Keiichi never appeared in Hinamizawa, Satoko bullied Rika, and the friendship that the main characters shared was never forged.

I heard people say Fredirica is the collective consciousness of all the dead Rikas.

Or did I miss something in Higurashi, because I have not read the manga.

And by the way, what's an OVA??

That wasn't Rika,that was Fredrica. She's a witch that lives in both the Umineko universe and the Higurashi universe. She took the form of a older Rika,she's quite similar to Rika but different.

And,no,it won't tell the difference. Saikoroshi-hen is the only serious arc,and it's about Rika going to a perfect world where non of the disasters happen,no Keiichi,no Rena,Hinamizawa's going to be flooded,Satoshi never left,Satoko is a bully.

Ooh wow really??!! That is really interesting; since I started watching this anime I was so drawn into the story and how everyone's connected and the different arcs they showed. A world without Keiichi, or Rena...is just wrong lol! But I heard from somewhere that Fredrica is said to be a being from several reincarnations of Rika (well her thoughts). But your comments make me want to go and buy the games hehe^^

but maria is her replacement, she looks just like rena, but shes 9 year old, and she wears a plastic crown on her head which is an allusion to rena(rena used to be called reina, queen in spanish)

actually, as far as i know(, its the other way around, rika is a being dependant of frederica, and takano is a being dependant of lambdadelta, a witch who resembles takano miyo(actually, takano is the one who resembles lambdadelta, since shes her creation).

In umineko it is revealed that basically everything that happened in higurashi was basically a chess game between frederica and lambda, rika being frederica's queen, and takano being lambdadelta's queen

They should write a book (well, maybe 2 or 3) containing all the arcs.

I know there are games and audio novels, but I'd really like to have this on paper.

Wow...I am even more amazed and wanting to learn more. So both Rika and Takano are dependent upon Frederica and Lambdelta due to their chess game against each other; are they witches from a bigger world within the Higurashi world (for lack of a word). If that's the case why would Frederica go back in time and warn Takano...if I'm understanding, that would help Iambdadelta(??) -- But I could be way wrong^^ Thanks for the info!!

i think you misunderstood higurashi world is our world, everybody lives on earth

hinamizawa and the island where umineko takes place are both in japan.

and no your understand is wrong, as you expected, from what i know, might be completely true, frederica is the only of the witches who KINDA cared about humans, this "chess" game between frederica and lambdadelta always caused deaths, suffering,e tc as you see through the different arcs

and well, the only reason was frederica went back in time is because since she had won a "chess" game against lambdadelta, both of them stopped playing, and since frederica wanted to prevent the suffering from starting for no reason(since it was not needed because werent playing anymore after frederica won)

she just went back in time and stopped everything

Higurashi is good anime but it would beter if in that season they will be healed from that virus so they wont be crazy....

The plot of Rei has nothing to do with the first season, so don't worry, you won't see any virus in Rei (well, I hope so. lol).
