  • This has been stuck in my head for a couple days. I just wish the drummer used a metronome so this was played at the speed it was on the record which was considerably slower.

  • Is it okay if I use this song for my channel? I wanted to ask for permission before I did it. God bless!:)

  • Thank you for posting this song!:) It brings back good memories because I used to sing this in a praise band I was with!:)

  • I for one absolutely love this song and the way it is sung. No offense to anyone that likes the "classic" hymns, but this style makes it so much easier for me to listen too. I'm a teenager that's just accepting God into my life, and this song has made my day so much better. =]

  • Okay sighing is so patronizing , commenting on ones so-called dark ages is demeaning. So not "piecing anything together". I have found the grace of listening to "modern" versions of music and love the instrumentation above. This is a great group, BUT this song could be slowed down a bit for the words to filter though more. Don't let the style get in the way of the message in either regard and don't let your superior attitude in get in the way of brotherly love. Grace goes both ways.

  • Please ask yourself 'Why?"

Why do we need to modernize these hymns? Is it not to feed our appetite for beats & tunes that makes us shake our bodies?

I love the classic hymns because they were written for one purpose only - The Glory of God

  • @machandxb you are basically insinuating that any and all entertainment is Sinful, which is highly legalistic...

Theres nothing wrong with modernizing The method the Gospel is preached

as long as you're not changing the Actual Gospel, which is repent, believe, and continue in repentance

  • Psalm 150 1 Praise the LORD Praise God in His sanctuary Praise Him in His mighty firmament! 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! 3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet Praise Him with the lute and harp! 4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! 5 Praise Him with loud cymbals Praise Him with clashing cymbals! 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD

  • @machandxb It is a joy and pleasure to worship God using all instruments! Some of these songs have never been sung at our church and are now. Once it is brought into circulation our Music director will do all kinds of things to it with violins, guitar, flutes etc. Why limit how we can praise God. How do you think the rocks would sound praising him. Sure wouldn't be quiet! Enjoy i praise quietly but let those who enjoy it loudly Shout to the Lord!

  • This is a desecration of the song. Rock music--distorted guitars, and the happy go lucky tempo do not fit this song. Anyone who considerts himself a "rock" musician need not consider themselves Christian musicians.

  • Sigh.

Anyone still clinging to this argument need not consider themselves intelligent. Let go of the Dark Ages, sir. The Lord commands us to worship Him. He doesn't dictate the instruments or the tempo; He simply wants to be the purpose for the music.

I could easily go into a long-winded account of the history of music that would make your position look rather foolish. Instead, I'll just ask you how sincere your worship can be if it is so dependent on a specific sound.

    Good day.

  • @Providential1611 So you're suggesting that distortion - A part of the sound spectrum that GOD CREATED - does not belong to him, and cannot be used to worship him? Seriously? Just because you see many AMERICAN musicians making rock music with ill intended lyrics doesn't mean you have to blaspheme the whole genre. btw, I don't even like Christian rock... people with your mind frame just piss me off.

  • @Providential1611 so tell me, where in the bible does it say that distorted guitars are a sin, and acoustic guitar, piano, slow tempo, are not?.. you praise God how you can. If "rock" helps you to better understand and praise God, then what is the problem? pretty much, by stating that rock doesnt equal christian musician, then you strip me of my church position and tell me i am not a Christian, b/c i see God more strongly in rock music than any other! It's all just preference.

  • tHANK YOU for music that will get the attention of the younger generation. I LOVE THE MARVELLOUS TRUTH IN THIS SONG AND THE SINGER. kEEP PROCLAIMING THE MARVELLOUS TRUTHS OF GOD AND HIS GRACE. I REALLY PRAY THIS MESSAGE IS PROCLAIMED FAR AND WIDE. THIS IS COMING FROM A OLDER PERSON, WHO LOVES GOOD GOSPEL MUSIC. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY PRECIOUS SINGERS KEEP PROCLAIMING THIS MESSAGE OF GRACE YOUR GENERATION NEEDS TO KNOW THIS MARVELLOUS MESSAGE OF GRACE. GOD IS INTERESTED IN TRUTH NOT NUMBER

  • I was at my 13 yr. olds camp recently and for a moment had the same thought (appealing to the flesh) about the music. But I wassoon reminding myself that the generation before me made the claim about my generations' musical differences. I started just focusing on the lyrics and and my attitude changed instantly. The message was not different at all. We must avoid letting our personal music preferences get to where we critisise inapropriatly. Even after being a victim, I almost did it myself.

  • I saw him perform at my church such talent.

  • <3 ıt. ıt's so cool how ıt's got a modern sound but wıth all the truth!!

  • It's probably the bad sound from the poor quality video we took of this concert...

    was much better live!!

  • this song sounds like the theme to the show friends... i'll be there for you

  • I bet Charles Wesley was more interested with the message than the tune to which it is sung.

  • Music communicates in addition to words. In this case, it seems to me that the music is communicating something different than the words. To me, at least, and I know I am probably in the minority here, it seems like they are taking a great text that talks about how great our God is, and combining it with music that says, "I'm going to listen to this because it appeals to my flesh and ignores all the rules of excellent music composition."

  • Appeals to my flesh? Wow, did you just walk out of the 1950s? I'll admit it's a simple progression, but I hardly think God thinks much of "excellent" compositions either. Our wisdom is His foolishness. It's not Mozart, but Mozart's not God. This is coming from someone who can't stand CCM, by the way.

  • A good variation of Charles Wesley's original!

  • Another really good song, it corresponds to some key passages in Hebrews and I John that talk about Christ being our Great High Priest.
