Thank you also for turning it right side up. Showing her upside down was what Trekkies and Trekkers called and insult when TV Guide and other articles showed it upside down.
On the contrary, I didn't really think much about before I built this model or the 10 months since. lol.
Actually, if you are referring to the firing arc statements and theorizing, that only occurred to me as I was handling the ship and projecting ideas for some shots I would want to eventually get of the ship.
Most likely, I would want to composite the model into some combat shots, so it is critical to think of these things.
Plus theres no phasers on the top of the Saucer Section which is also bad cause what if there is an enemy attacking them from above? The Federation ship can't waste time to turn up just to fire Phasers, I mean theres a Romulan/Klingon/Tholian attacking them and their sheilds are lowing with every hit. That's why every time I make a Federation Ship I put
TMP Style Phaser Banks on the top of the Saucer Section.
To be fair to TOS, 'phaser banks' was always the phrase so there must have been more than one forward, lower saucer, bank of them.
And their placement was always nebulous along w/ the torps. One show they're in one place and the next they're in another. Combine that with color changes from red to blue and I just saw 'purple' though I forget the ep. and you've got some chaotic stuff.
But I would always put top and bottom mounted phasers on my STRPG designs.
The FASA role paying game. Goes back to 1983. There was a starship combat and design ruleset which was fun. Starfleet Battles was another big game from back then. Never palyed it and don't remember who produced it. Guess nowadays, it's all computer games, eh?
I think the Task Force Games version came afterwards, but FASA did make a mini combat game with the lead ships. I found a few in another Star Trek box I own that has 6 sets of built up 3 Piece Advasary ships.
Photon Torpedoes on the destroyer were on the front on the "B Deck". Phasers had two banks on port and starboard sides. Look at 0:49 and it shows it.
The Scout Class ships never had phasers on the top of the saucer, only two banks on the front underneath. Scout ships weren't meant for combat, just to patrol sectors and get in and out quickly.
Beautiful ship nice job you' ve inspired me to try to build one

@silvereagle2061 As models are commonly shot upside down and flipped over for tv or movies, I'm surprised.

@silvereagle2061 I go back and I mean wayyyyy back when this first was brought up. Its a 70s thing.

Love how you brought back a great Canon ship from the past. Too bad we never saw this class re-fit.

I personally think FJ goofed and forgot to draw in the underside detail in the hangerbay pictures.

This design makes no sense to me - I thought a ship had to have two nacelles? This just looks cobbled together.

No, where I live there are still a few arcades around, and I just didn't know about it.

Fasa made both games.

I thought SF Battles was Task Force Games or something? Fasa did have the Starship Combat Simulator module for the RPG...
