I see the first Europeans in North America as not immigrants, but builders. Also there is quite a bit of evidence to suggest that the natives were in fact not the first ones here when they arrived from ASIA, There has been evidence linking tools and remains to a tribe from the southern france region that actually predates natives by about 10,000 years. Also Scotland IS IN BRITIAN.
There's just too much overwhelming human history of geographically induced, religiously induced, or intolerance/xenophobia from all countries to say their policies are any better than the USA's.
I think for a country to have Human Rights respecting "borders" the country would have to be a socialistic, non materialistic or property holding "government" to allow a free path for human commerce. But, I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Ideally, yes. I would fucking LOVE a completely equal world where race, religion, sexual orientation, caste, geographical borders or culture does not matter and people place "value" on the service that person can provide for the greater good.
Now, am I a big enough idiot to think this can be done, or even attempted without MAJOR global ramifications? No.
But, I can hold hope for a peaceful world one day.
ok , now in your ideal world, what would you do with the drugees, drunks, lazy and the criminals ? You know, ones that don't want to get with the program ! Do they get the same size piece of the pie ?
We're playing with hypotheticals here. This is a "globe" which will never leave the ideals of my brain.
I could just as well say "No laws against drugs or killing yourself stupidly", and say "Oh, it's my perfect magical world, there will be no one who IS lazy/ criminal."
You are trying to argue philosophy with me, correct? I imagine you are trying to bring up the "Well, it's Government's job to look out for the fuckups....et al" arguement, maybe?
I am just trying to figure out where you socialists draw the line.
Now the answer to my first question is , the USA .
We let more people in to our country then the rest of the world. But to watch a people come here illegally, wave their counties flag and demand rights they don't have in their own country, is upsetting. Why don't they stay in their own country and fix it ? Perhaps thats a job a mexican is not willing to do !
Holy Shit, yes there are problems with current situation of immigration.

Nations are imaginary borders. Furthermore, the US has no official language.

There would be no problem with immigration if immigration law were upheld. Apparently some people believe that certain laws are optional.

a nice long post, a great deal to think about.
I could definitely see you as an activist :P
We've established that people are dumbasses. What now? Educate ourselves, educate others, educate our children?
Sounds like an uphill battle, but you're in the right.
For such a serious conversation, I did laugh a little (with, not at, you) 09:09. I understand what you're saying.
btw, tip-top truistic tautology, "Teacher Tashi" : )

I don't think anyone or country does.

A one world socialistic government ?
You would want everyone in this world to be equal, right ?
(you do know this is opening a can of worms)
