  • i never saw a sight that didnt look better looking back!

  • THE F***ING TWAT

  • I love the back up vocals in this song!!

  • hahahaha mira que curioso en españa se llamaba : La leyenda de la ciudad Sin Nombre. Y en los USA : Pinta tú carreta.

Me gusta más el nombre que le pusimos en España.

Por cierto, la canción es preciosa

  • Gees Us....My hubby loves this!!!!

  • A Classic for all time...

  • Wouw! What a sexy voice! I had this record when I was child

  • God damn I miss Lee Marvin...right up there with Steve Mother Fucking McQueen....what a treasure on film. A bona fide decorated war hero!

  • My kinda Man

  • Nothing stopping anyone travelling, just lack of faith in yourself - do it!

  • When I'm drunk and feeling melancholy I always find myself listening to this song. A big part of me yearns to just travel my whole life, but these days it's near impossible due to all the red tape and the fact I live on a small island where all cities are clones of each other.

  • Beautiful is GD right. MF beautiful. Well miss that cat.

  • The memories are rollin here...............Nearly as good as the memories from James Stewart running around after speaking to Clarence his Angel.

  • Couldn't imagine anyone else singing this . . it's a stone cold classic.

  • this one of my best songs ever

  • God bless Lee Marvin! Non better, NFSE.

  • I sometime get Muddy drunk.

  • i still like his voice leentje belgium

  • One of my favorite movies!

  • nou su....

  • So fühle mich, immer wandern aber nirgendwo findet man Ruhe. So geht’s bis zum Gra….?

  • Great! The song one remembers from the movie!

  • what happened to turn this world to pure shit ?

and they call them the bad old day's please bring them back

  • the klf seem to be fond:

'when daylight breaks, we'll be down that road

rockman and me with a lighter load

we'll stop for lunch in some taco bar

lee marvin on the jukebox: 'wand'rin star' "

  • YES !

  • Our sun, our solar system, is a wandering.

We have all been been born under a wandering star.

  • not sure if someone else posted this, lee marvin landed on saipan and was wounded in the buttocks, (sounds like forrest gump ? ) he was at least a soldier of some note , unlike john wayne who made out he was in every war but never was in anything , lee was a mans man , loved to come to australia to go marlin fishing in north queensland , such a character in cat balou will never surface again

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • He was a legend , and a great actor

  • Actually, the lyrics are "Smoke can burn your eyes.." (Not snow)

  • I was born under a wand'ring Star ...

  • This is the ONLY musical that I've enjoyed from start to finish, the story is absolutely hysterical

  • He was such a great actor! and this is such a beautiful song AND lyrics!

Has this song been covered by anyone else male or female!!??

  • I absolutely love this song, its so damn lonesome sounding yet so beautiful.

  • I missing a couple of lines in first stanza...... Two lines before snow can burn your eyes but only people makes you cry... Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

  • I am pretty sure that the lyrics are..."mud can make you prisoner, and the plains can bake you dry, snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry." I hope this helps. This is a great song indeed.

  • a bit of unknown history....he landed in a small pueblo in Mexico, San Blas, Nayarit....if you ever go there ask about him...he was true to form...and i leave that for the adventurer in you

  • "Hell" is in "hello". Greatest line ever.

  • who would have thought lee marvin could sing like that,Brilliant song u like as soon as u hear it i was only 3yrs old wen it came out and still remember every1 singing it at school Good on u lee,No 1 couldve sang it like u.

  • My dad used to play this alot when i was a kid! back in the day when it felt good to be alive and the world was a better place then it is now !

  • @leesteuk1 Amen to that. I remember seeing the movie with my dad and singing along to this song.

  • Back in the good owl days, when our country was Irish.

  • @leesteuk1 Lee Marvin was classic in this show.

Actually this was a great song - I wished we still had that cat amoung us.

  • A mouth full of gravel and whiskey, God damn Beautiful . . .

  • @shellamich and you know this by rear-ending the pig???? stay off if so negative.

  • whenever i hear this song it brings a tear to my eye because it always makes me think about my grandad as he used to sing it when i was a boy in the 1970's, good memories of great days!

  • When my mother first saw "Paint Your Wagon" she said, "Lee Marvin sounds like he is singing out ass!"...and so he does! Great movie!!

  • Sehr gut!

  • Spreche in meiner Sprache!! i find you ugly !

  • Comment removed

  • I CAN'T THINK OF ONE BAD MOVIE HE MADE. EVERY MOVIE HE WAS IN HE MADE IT BTTER!

  • I was at East Eagle creek, in North East Oregon, when "PAINT YOUR WAGON" was filmed. They were all great people but I could tell some interesting stories about the site and many of the things that happened while this was being filmed. Much of the best film was on the cutting room floor, in Baker OR, when we were finished. I owned a mountain lodge, 3 miles over the hill from the site, where many of them came on weekends. Great People, Great Times.

    Don Jordan

  • This is a very powerful song especially if you ever know someone that was like this that isn't around anymore. This is such a personal song for me. Every time I hear this I think of my father.

  • "Do I know where HELL is? Hell is in HELLO"

I have this song on a 45...Clint Sings "I Talk To The Trees" on the flip side.

I LOVE Lee Marvin AND Clint.

    Both perfect MEN's MEN.

  • This song topped the Beatles in the UK one year for 2 weeks.

  • @Wellch it prevented Let it Be from becomming a #1 single

  • I WAS BORN UNDER AN AIRDRIE FLAG, AN AIRDRIE AIRDRIE FLAG, DO U KNOW WHERE HELL IS, HELL IS EASTER ROAD DO YOU KNOW WHERE BROOMFIELD IS, WHERE THE HIBEES SHAT THERE LOAD COZ I WAS BORN UNDER AN AIRDRIE FLAG, KNIVES ARE MADE FOR STABBING GUNS ARE MADE TO SHOOT AND IF U COME TO BROOMFIELD PARK WE'LL SINK THE FUCKIN BOOT OH I WAS BORN UNDER AN AIRDRIE FLAG :D

  • The man that defined hardcore

  • The man that defined harcore

  • You are such a child. Anyone who disagrees with you MUST be brainwashed by American Hollywood or the News right? You couldn't handle the fact that you actually have NO IDEA what you're talking about. - Grow up son.....

  • @corebare I am childish for pointing out the obvious then so be it. We must think like children do according to Christ :) Thanks you confirmed I am on the right track! Have a good day.

  • @whitenightf3 - Oh. You're religeous. That certainly explains why you act so arrogant and hypocritical.

  • @corebare You are projecting your hypocrisy onto me and no I am not religious and because you have a self inflated ego I will make this my last response to you and let you have the last word. Knock yourself out sonny boy. PMSL

  • @corebare

To say any large group of people are arrogant and hypocritical is, in itself, hypocritical. Please review your moronic insults before posting them.

Sorry for posting so late by the way, I considered leaving it but I can't resist pointing these things out.

  • R.I.P Lee. I loved you in this musical!!!!

  • I was definitely born under a wanderin' star.

  • Beautiful song.......Beautiful man!

  • always thought that tom waits was coping someone , RIP lee

  • Una canzone che mi è sempre piaciuta, grande Lee Marvin.Sibillaaleramo1900.

  • this isa the only person able to "sing" this song nobody else comes near

  • i was born in oxford??? yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer

  • Hey, dacoolbeansta, here is the true story that you mentioned. Pfc Marvin was wounded, as you said, but not at Iwo Jima. It was at Saipan, a year and more before Iwo. There was no connection between him and Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) who was a Marine, but joined the Reserves in 1946, after WWII was over. Regardless, both will always be in our Marine hearts.

  • He is the man!

  • So good!

  • I thought this Movie was a load of rubbish considering that Clint and Lee were in it, but Lees' rendition of Wanderin Star saved it from obscurity.

  • He was the greatest!

  • I was born under a mexican nopal.

  • What key is this song in ? more precisely, how low in pitch is the fundamental that's being sung? that's quite low anyway.. I've always been trying to sing along to this nice little piece with little sucess =/

  • After being wounded in the posterior during the battle of Iwo Jima, his platoon Sargent, later known as Captain Kangaroo, remarked,"when you go home to the U.S., you'll need a two-holed outhouse."

  • Great.

I have the album. Lot of great songs.

  • Great. I have the album. Lot of great songs.

  • Superbe ! Quel acteur et en plus... quelle voix ! Il est tellement bon qu'il serait mauvais à la STARAC

  • If Lee performed this rendition on American Idol he would have been summarily dismissed. I pray to God that Americans will always understand and appreciate the gritty charm (for lack of a better phrase) of this performance. If not, true art will lose something infinitely valuable as you wait for Celine Dion's version.

    PS: Spot on HappyDay 989

  • @5701birchroad --maybe Paula and Randy would have let him through to spite Simon. But remember that this song have reached #1 in the UK for a few weeks one year beating all the Beatles songs.

  • From what I've read,he did go through as many bottles of booze as his character in this movie-and did so on the set, sometimes delaying filming-but,hey,professional research! Method acting! Become the role! Whatever,it sure worked for Lee Marvin;every part he played was totally convincing-this one especially-HE WAS THAT CRUDE DUDE.

  • Such a lovely song , with the deep voice of LM, so wonderful

  • brilliant

  • A true talent and tough guy on set, but a true gent of it. He never let his fame go to his head.

Thank you for posting this, it brings back a lot of happy memories for me.

  • The poetry is prophetic.

    Thelma

  • I wuz born under a grumblin bar - hic !

  • Lee was a bad ass dude! He's cool like flint.

  • This movie, so many memories from younger years. R.I.P. Mr Marvin and all others !

  • I was born under a wanderers scarf

do you know where hell is

hell is at west brom (shit!)

heaven is at molineux and thats where i am from

I was born under a wanderers scarf

  • beautifull

  • 5 shot glasses to HappyDay989 for your kick ass coment...cheers

  • LeeMarvin was great as an actor and this song he did great!

  • The man who shot Liberty Vallance lol

  • I was 14years old and the first time in a cinema! Great and forme a great event!

    Peter =Warsaw

  • Me encanta esta canción. De pequeño en unos campamentos hicimos una representación teatral y esta canción era el fondo musical. Preciosa.

  • A man as tough as a nail and with a voice as if he used to wash his breakfast down with a bottle of booze - which he might even have done. :-)

5 stars for the posting and the song!

  • Thanks for your nice comment :-))

  • @jabbola and yet he never quite got over the fact that he was discharged in WWII for being shot by the enemy & recieved a purple heart for it...he got shot in the butt :-)...he fell into acting by accident too as a plumers helper when someone fell sick & he was asked to take whoevers place...in a few years he was making $1,000,000 a movie, in the sixtys that was huge money

  • @HappyDay989

no doubt, a fine man and actor....and a great road song. Hitched all over the US after my army time in 1970, singing this song

  • @HappyDay989 Mike Tyson is tough as nails Lee was just a actor and singer.

  • @whitenightf3 "just a actor and singer" ... how would you know if hes tough or not, or better yet, why should anybody care what you think.

  • @Willemims Ditto Ditto Ditto. PMSL

  • @whitenightf3 - - - Hey, moron with the inane comment: Was Mike Tyson ever wounded in battle in WWII? Not that I expect you to know the answer to that, but NO, he wasn't... But Lee Marvin was. Was Mike Tyson ever in the military or ever in a war? NO HE WASN'T. Or was just a boxer with an IQ of 68 who could box until Buster Douglas beat the crap out of him? Lee Marvin was not only a badass, but a thinker also. More than ANYONE can say about your MORON boy Tyson....

  • @corebare Oi silly bollocks he was wounded in a war because he was there not because he was brave. And Tyson would rip your head off and spit down the hole because your such a plank.

You Yanks believe everything Hollywood indoctrinates you with you are that gullible.

  • @whitenightf3 - You are such a child. Anyone who disagrees with you MUST be brainwashed by American politics or Hollywood right? Because you couldn't handle the fact that you actually have NO IDEA what you're talking about. It must be nice to think you're always right. "....Ignorance is it's own bliss...."

  • @whitenightf3 - "He was wounded in battle because he was there, not because he was brave?" Do you even know how he was wounded? Would you like me to explain it to you? BTW, have you ever been in a war? Would you like me to explain what being in a war is like?

  • @whitenightf3 Great comment mukka!

  • He couldnt sing, but what a voice! Simply a great song!

  • @anwoxlog One report on his singing:" Marvin's version of the song "Wand'rin Star" becoming an unlikely number-one single in the UK for him, famously keeping The Beatles at number two"

  • @anwoxlog - Who in there right mind would have thought casting Eastwood and Marvin to sing in a musical would have worked so well. When I was a kid I hated the singing in that movie. (kids just want gunfights) But now, I love it.

  • Toller Song!

    Great song!

Mein Vater sagt immer das sei das einzigste Lied welches er singen kann ^^

  • Great Song ! Thanks for posting this !

  • oh my god

    que tal voz

    gracias Lee marvin

  • I don't care how or when I die. I don't care if I die rich or poor. And I don't care if theres one or one million at my funeral. Theres a card in my pocket stating that this is the only tune that needs to be played. All the rest is history.

  • This is one of two songs I want to play at my Dad's funeral. The other is "Happy Trails". This is my father to a tee.

  • I think back nostalgically about this good vocalist and actor. Good times, good music and people live in harmony.

  • loving it!

  • Un lenimento per il cuore e l'anima.

  • Reminds me of when. I left Home in West Wales in1979. lee Marvin was awesom. RIP.
