My sensei trained in Osaka and O'Sensei would come and teach. Sensei said that senior students would try to attack him by surprise out in the courtyard and he would weave in and out of them like dodging pedestrians on a busy street. They also tried to sneak up on himin the middle of the night while he slept. But the second one of them touched the entranceway, he would wake up and say, "Who's there?"
Haha! O'Sensei is the best. They or anyone on this earth cannot beat him. He is the best in Aikido. Like he said,"Aikido cannot be defeated." They should know that. :)
terry wingrove went to japan in 1967 ueshiba passed away in 1969 there is a chance that he trained under o sensei an gozo shioda because he tried to learnt from as much different masters he can thats why he is a 3rd dan aikido and 7th dan karate , 3rd dan judo plus 9th dan yawara jujitsu trained in japan
there is an instructer who learnt from ueshiba called terry wingrove who is the only foreigner to have trained with great masters of karate and jujitsu plus he has trained under ueshiba the art of aikijutsu which is more advance and deadlier then aikido. search for terry wingrove , u can also see him in a tv documentary when u search. also research about him in google.
Considering O-Sensei's roots in daito ryu aiki jutsu(training under Sokaku Takeda) and with a closer look at the martial application and philosophy of that art, it is clear that, though it is 'deadlier', it is not a more advanced 'art'.
I beg to differ about Aiki-jitsu being "deadlier". Just because Aikido is a "Do" form doesn't make it less effective or harmful than Aiki-jitsu. My sensei used to show us the Aiki-jitsu techniques in Aikido and there is nothing less "deadly" about Aikido.
About Terry Wingrove: he was born in 1941. O-Sensei had completely separated himself from Sokaku and daito ryu aiki jutsu by 1936. Wingrove didn't arrive in Japan until 1967, less than two years from O-Sensei's death. If he studied with O-Sensei, he didn't study aiki jutsu.
...they had to be compliant in order not to break bones. Noone would benefit from that! But to say that Japans greatest master was using acting or pretending stooges is ignorance. In a country where masters would recieve challenges all the time... how do u think he got to be the greatest !? By paying the whole country to shut up !?

Terry Wingrove has never said that he learn't Aikijujitsu with Moreihei Ueshiba as I once asked him on a course in 1991.
He told me that he trained at the Aikido headquaters in Jaopan and briefly with Ueshiba
I think it would be better to ask him rather then just argue if he did or didn't.
