  • What's with all the Germans sitting mutely on the stage? If I were on a stage with the Buzzcocks I'd be upside down six feet in the air.

  • people are only happier nowdays because they are more ignorant

  • @UTFRG Oh I hear ya...the ignorance is bliss thing. Well we all fail and we're all epic.

  • this song is so absolutely beautiful ::sadmemory::

  • i thought of a song in my class, and i said "everbody's happy nowadays" and my teacher was like "Oh! i know that song!" and i got confused, because i had never heard it before. and i was singing this song. :l

  • This is a great song-from a pretty good album!

  • Libertines are a damn good Buzzcocks tribute band

    LOOOL

  • well, everyone knows the song is brilliant, next comes Pete's hair. hahahaa

  • @LadyEdgar and that cheeky little snear he's got going!

  • We just had an EP review saying our singer sounds like Pete Shelley, particularly in The Beat Generation. If anyone wants to let us know what they think, and if they like us, it would be much appreciated. Ta

  • sweet vid

  • Fuck!!I'm sorry it wasn't me...someone has been writing stupid things under my name!!

  • Comment removed

  • @chika2623 Sure are quick to make judgements; maybe you should work on your grammer first. Oh, and by the way, how would you know?

  • i was brought up on these along side the who, the jam, bad manners and so on thanks 2 my dad. im now 22. i still love my music like, dnb, dubstep and house music but i always come back to my roots now and then... great band

  • It saddens me that kids today choose rap over these punk/new wave bands. but, I reflect, they 've never really been exposed to them. It's up to us to spread the message.

  • Some kids today choose this over those other shit

  • a song witten in 1978 abot a book called 1984 being performed (mimed) in 1979 & watched in 2010, life's an illusion!

  • @scobiedog1

Right? This performance was totally synched, however it doesn't cheapen the immediacy of the real feelings exhibited within the material of the songcraft.

    Take that 2000's era pop-tart!!!

  • @scobiedog1

I thought it was about Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, mainly because I think a lot of the lyrics and the title are dialogue in it. Could be an illusion of mine tho.

  • @gerontodon yes, i think you're right....aldous "mescalin" huxley!

  • Greatness!

  • The Libertines definitely listened to these guys

  • indeed lol its on petes doc wiki under the headline inflencess:)

i love the libertines these guys r ace to like.

  • its interesting to note their dress is not too much different from today's typical hipster.

  • aah i love the way he flicks his head.. looks like a girl :D

  • the german audience reminds me of the contemporary montreal audience...huh

  • the looks on the german audience is funny, brings a new meaning to sour kraut. lol

    no offence intended. :)

  • a classic song, and it gets stuck in your head so you end up singing it all the time.

    but its not annoying.

  • the ironic thing is that im happier after listening to this song

  • same for me.. =O =\... but don't mind... happy nowadays

  • @welcome2shamrock How in the hell is that ironic...?

  • @GreenGearMood Cause the song is about how crappy life can be? Did you listen to the song?

  • @TheFernist Well it's not the TONE at all.

  • @GreenGearMood Tone, no. Lyrics, yes. Its a homage / inspiration from Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World". Everybody has fake happiness and meaningless existences and when the protagonist tries to explain his hate and depression of his supposedly ideal world, his girl turns to him and says "How can you say that? Everybody's happy nowadays." Its a cynical song.

  • i'm happy.

  • haha yeah a bored looking audience but buzzcocks its one of the best bands on the past century

  • The drummer built the engine for my sixties VW van - he's a top VW engine builder in the UK now- John Maher Racing

  • The drummer was awesome

Listen to 'Moving away from the Pulsebeat' they let him loose a bit

  • The irony behind the song's title is everyone looking quite the opposite. It was more than likely directed to look that way.

  • The whole lot you sound like you had a lobotomy

  • its so funny how everyone is sitting there watching the buzzcocks looking like they've just had a lobotomy..

  • No, it's not OK!

  • Billiant song. I always loved the Buzzcocks. Shame about the bored looking audience, sort of ruins it a bit. But to be fair: not all geman audiences are like that. I lived in Duesseldorf in the 80s and believe me, if that tune had been played at the "Ratinger Hof" where the punk and new wave scene met, the audience would not have looked so bored!!!

  • Why have the band play behind the audience? Makes no sense at all to me.

  • yo did no this song comes out in shawn of the died

  • is no one noticing how good the drummer is its a hard beat and he looks so cool and collected...

  • No they're just German!

  • This song is so true!

  • impressive cock bulges guise

  • i was tired of being upset, always wanting something i could never get... true dat.

  • I love this Song!!!

  • everybody is average nowadays

  • FUCKING AWESOME PERFORMANCE!!!

Its obviously a not familiar crowd going on.

Its like "What the hell is this music?"

  • Ha Ha totally whats the crowd all about its like there at a funeral

  • They're just bastards. This is the first time I've heard this song and it's pretty damn awesome.

  • did the audience just get through a lobotomy or something? Move dammit!

  • have you ever heard that germans are considered the borest people in europe?

  • God he looks a right twat. Great band.

  • What I wouldn't give to be around at that time... great song!

  • i was and it was the best time of my life buzzcocks were so underrated.

  • dude...

    that's so cool.

i watched 24-hour party people (good movie, if you havent seen it you should) and i was like, whoah man. what a groovy time period.

    born in the 90's... *sigh*

  • same :(

  • the strokes anyone??

  • Yeah but with a different front man good observation evertonic

  • This is one of my favourites of theirs next to Why Can't I touch It and Moving Away From The Pulsebeat. Pure Class!

  • good song!!

  • lol at the audience. Hey Franz and Helga!! wake the hell up!! this is the friggin' Buzzcocks!!!!

  • oh ya!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!..

  • Top tune,48 now.......OHHHHHH.YOUR AS OLD AS YA FEEL.MMMM 90 LOL!

  • WHOA! Never seen it. LOVE the Dee Dee Ramone jacket!

  • You mean a biker's jacket.

  • One of the best bands of all time

  • @gooooooooooooooaaaal

I agree with you 100%! they are in fact my favorite punk band of all time!

  • I like that version too

  • Yeah I have it on my ipod. It was hard to find for some reason

  • sunderland will run out 2 dis song

  • apperently will run out to this song da nxt game it is shite

  • takes me back a bit and makes me realise that music nowadays has gone mostly to rat-shit ..

  • WOW-this is VERY rare!!

  • Groovy times, man.

  • Some things never change, maybe the most intelligent pop single ever written

  • Gee they were good weren't they? They made love songs acceptable at a time when they were completely unacceptable. Always liked how they had a beach boys harmony in this song.

  • man i love this song so much

  • brilliant.

  • ntratusol give you dad a kick in the ass. This was my soundtrack while growing up. Its all the same, so enjoy it while its there and dont wish to be anywhere else. Peace!

  • Re buena banda! :) Como las bandas de los '70, tengo solo 15 años, pero me encantan :)

  • grandes grupos punks ingleses de fines de los 70s buzzcocks, gen x , the stranglers, clash, sex pistols, jam.

  • there is no pain in not beeing old enough, just like the music, thats what its there for.

  • your right, i'm 16 but this is one of my favorite songs, age doesnt matter music is made to last, still wish i could have experienced these times though, hardcore gets rather boring

  • i can beat that, im 14 and im going to see these i like them so much. age should have fuck all to do with music taste

  • goto the undertones for more brilliant music from the times when i was young. the tavern in wakey, coach&horses in rothwell, swilly,my home, garforth, mrs lee in the chinese, and of course, super leeds.ntratusol your dad must be a good bloke.

  • one of the most underatted bands ever

  • i wish this style of music was new, firstly cos the kids would be cleverer, and secondly cos i would only be 17 years old

  • Yes. I would be young, full of hope and full of beer.

  • My dad raised me on the buzzcocks, television, the stranglers, joy division. Im only 20 but I feel old no one my age knows what the hell im talking about :(

  • I'm 15 and feel your pain :-(

  • Who fucking cares if noe one on your age have heard of it? I'm 13 and live in the most conservative place in whole fucking Norway, listen to The Smiths, and my clothes are fucked up, i go in doc martens and palestina scarf. Everybody thinks im really fucking wierd. But hey, who the fuck cares? As long as you're happy!

  • so because you spend all your money and time dressing like a punk that automatically makes you so much more punk than the rest of us? Grow up.

  • dressing like a punk is part of paying your dues. Also is it just me or do the vocalist of the deadmilkmen sound like them?

  • well said lad

but don`t forget you`re norway is a massive cog in the EUSSR

be happy lad the future is yours?

  • doccers are too expensive...

  • well tell to go an get fucked

  • I totally get it. I'm 21 and this is what i grew up on. People our age really dont fucking get it.

  • i know how u feel man but at the same time I'd rather have it this way than being one of the people who don't know that real music doesnt come from our radios or mtv anymore. im just thankful i have the chance to listen to these bands especially since most of my friends will never hear these fine tunes in their life. that sounds kinda scary to me. keep listening to good music and let everyone else watch mtv, your dad was a good good man :D

  • u talk bullshit. yes there was great music in the past and it's still relevant, but to deny arctic monkeys, radiohead, kings of leon, amy winehouse, the strokes and many more the title of "real" is just crap. they're just a small sample of the talent around nowadays

  • LMAO

  • Best song ever.

  • The drummer wasn't looking too happy

  • they sound really good live

  • Mmmm, repetitive... but who get tired of eating mana...

  • i love this song- its so great. The riff is really good.
