I might try this tomorrow...I also like things for breakfast like Lox spread with cream cheese, topped with a sliver of red onion a few capers and wrapped in a lettuce leaf, who needs the bagel!
Egg salad, egg and bacon salad with celery or pork rinds, cold dinner leftovers, radish "hash browns", sardines with pork rinds ( sounds weird, but I grew up eating sardines, smoked oysters, steak tartare, carpaccio)
I can't wait to try this! But I had a question, do you need any kind of special bowl to microwave the mixture in? I just have regular microwave safe soup bowls. Just wondering if that would work. Thanks!
@robinhowardjohnson Great, then you've saved yourself the hassle of making or eating one, but considering the number of views & positive comments, you seem to be in the minority.
@bowulf Well said, bowulf! LOL ! How many of us have eaten oatmeal, and how lovely is that to look at?! I'm just glad it's easy to make and that we have someone kind and motivated to take the time and effort to show us how to do it.
yeii this is the second time i do atkins, its the only diet i think i can do!! ppl tell me im nuts when they hear about it! but it works wonders! ...i lost 10kg in just under 2months,that was 2 yrs ago with atkins.. but slowly, especially this christmas the wights creeping back on. Im on my 5th day now... havnet been eating much carbs at all.. no cravings yet, except for a mock danish! cant believe i missed this recipe of urs!! and about adding blueberries! mmm thank u!! :D
@Apapafrita I am glad you are back where you found success!
I am glad you like the recipes. It is still one of my mainstays after years of being on Atkins. About the only change I do now to the recipe is have it with a bit of low carb maple syrup and add blueberries from time to time. It really is delicious.
Hi Kent,i made this last night for desert,i thought it was quite nice,do you use full fat cream cheese?and is it ok to eat this every night for a desert, because that's when i feel like comfort food, thank you, love all your video's.
@kackleful I use either full fal or one third fat cream cheese (it's easier to spread) when I make this. You can eat this every night, but just be aware cheese is limited to 3-4 oz per day.
I would just like to say that I do not have splenda & therefore did not use it when I made this dish, it's still quiet good without it! Thank you so much for all your helpful advice! I'm on day 2 :)
How induction friengly would you say is flax meal ? I have bought and my pack says 2tbsp=4 gms fibre. Like that is the only carb listed on the label. I am still confused.PLease let me know! :)
@indigal83 Flax is essentially all fiber for its carbs, so it would generally have 0 - 0.5g per TBS in net carbs. As the red box says, all ingredients are Induction legal, but there are limited quantities of some items, so you are limited to 1 per day.
No wonder it tastes great. Ive nearly lost a stone going to stay on induction longer as when I added pumpkin seeds it stopped the weight loss. Ur an inspiration ;O)
Yep, and Cocoa (unsweetened like you had) is completely Induction legal. Lately, I have been tossing in a few blueberries as well. I am glad you like it!
I just bought the ingredients and made it.. It tastes good! I think I used too much butter though because it made it a little salty so I had to add more splenda x-D
I have been looking at the picture of this "mock" danish for weeks.......No offense Kent, but the pics do not bring thoughts of sugar plums to my head....But I finally broke down and tried it and OH MY GOODNESS, IT WAS AMAZING!!! Texture of BREAD....sweet BREAD....and so yummy...like a BUTTERY CINNAMON ROLL....
Hi Kent, thank you for posting this video! I tried the mock danish and it was quite good. I also visited Linda's Low Carb. I'm on day 2 of my diet and I have already lost 1.5 pounds. These recipes will make this diet much easier! Thanks for sharing : ) .

I appreciate the comments. It really is a great snack or dessert to have in a pinch and healthy too. I should have another one of Laura's favorite dessert recipe videos posted soon. Thanks for the feedback.
Does the ground flax meal make it a little crunchy? I have some flax SEEDS, so I guess I'll hae to put them into the food processor. I've never used flax before--this would be my first time. Yes, Bowulf, that makes sense. Thanks for the reply. I didn't get a chance to try this recipe out yet, but today I will! I am enjoying your videos. The low-carb life is going well, for now! :-) Down 18 lbs in 5 weeks, yay! Thanks for the vids and recipes. ~Molly
Kent! My gosh you look GREAT. I'm an old ADBB member who "knew you back when..." Nice video. I'm headed to view a few more. Nice to see a familiar (tho much skinnier) face!
Yes, Cream cheese is allowed up to 3 oz. Eggs of course are allowed, and the rest are spices. Just be sure to count this against your daily sweetener limit.
I bought mine off Ebay -- but you have to pay attention to the Splenda concentration. Some are lesser concentrated like Fiberfit than the drop = 1.5 tsp like sweety brand. That is the cheapest place I have found it.
The sweety website is also the most popular place to buy it.
i bought 2 pounds of Ground Beef For Patties But i dont know any good spice blend to put in ? perhaps you have one that you use can you tell me please ? and also list the carbs ?
My favorite way to cook ground beef is as stuffed cheeseburgers -- 2# hamburger, half a small onion, salt, pepper to taste,1 TBS Worcestershire sauce, 3oz bacon, and 4 oz cheddar cheese. Add and combine all ingredients together, and then patty the hamburger (you can freeze what you don't use).
Cook as you normally would. As for carb counts - depends on the amount onions (the main source of carbs). The other spices have none, and cheese is marginal.
Since making this video, I have also went to liquid splenda as well and dropped the topping. For my topping now I go for sugared donut effect with a dusting of granulated splenda on top. I have however tried Smucker 50/50 strawberry jam too. It makes it a bit to sweet though.
omg, I just tried it and wow, its awesome! the cream cheese w/ the eggs feels like really soft bread when its cooked and really satisfies ur carb craving, thank u for this recipe!
You are very welcome. If you've seen my latest tagged video, you'll notice that even after 2 years this is still one of my favorite foods. This is coming from a guy who doesn't like eggs just by themselves too! I am glad you liked it.
There is no flour in the recipe. Just egg and cream cheese. Soy flour is ok in small doses, but I am not a big fan of the way it cooks or the aftertaste. Then you have the whole is soy good for you question.
For your other questions, it may certainly stimulate cravings and start a path of where your eating is no longer under control.
MMMMM ... YUM! I just made this a few minutes ago and it was awesome! I left out the topping stuff and vanilla, but it was still delicious! Thanks for posting!
Hello, I just made this, and I may have a problem :( I purchased everything, and the vanilla I bought was mccormick 100% pure extract. After eating a couple of bites of the "danish", it seemed to have a really sweet taste. To my surprise, the vanilla ingredients are:vanilla bean, (35%)alcohol, and corn syrup! I did not eat the rest. Have i just blown nearly 2 weeks effort with my vanilla mistake? and just an extra note, I only used half the splenda you had mentioned...
No, I would continue where I was at. It wasn't a cheat so much as a mistake that was caught quick plus the amount of corn syrup was likely minimal in 1 tsp of vanilla syrup.
This was soo0 good. Makes a fantastic breakfast. On a side note, when I ate my first, I had no cravings for a second one. Didn't even occur to me that it would be anywhere near filling me up.
I have tried regular Stevia and didn't like it. It had way too much of herby or metallic aftertaste. The new stuff Truvia is very good, but has 4g of Carbs per packet, so I am little more leery than a packet of Splenda with .6g. When I make the recipe now, I use liquid Splenda in it, and one third packet of Truvia on top.
i tried this last night and i added a little lemon extract in mine, also I used 2 things of cream cheese b'/c i like it rich. also i but it in the fridge and the taste cold is sooo good. like a flan or custard. for the topping try mixing heavy cream, splenda, and vanilla to make a thick glaze, like icing.
Yes it is. Eggs, Cream Cheese (within your daily limit of 3-4 oz), vanilla extract (spice) and artificial sweeteners (under 3x per day) are all allowed.
I've got a similar recipe but I didn't know it was called mock danish. My recipe: 1tbs Cream Cheese or cottage cheese 2tbs Splenda Eggs Lemon extract Vanilla extract margarine/butter I've tried the cinnamon and I loved it! Try the lemon extract, it's like a totally different dish. Also, I don't microwave, I cook it in a non-stick pan so it looks kinda pancake like. Thanks man!
thanks that is all i need to hear. i am from hawaii and half japanese and korean and i was raised with lots of meat and being in hawaii rice. my blood sugar was about 345 a few days ago, now its 170. the cool thing is my mom is trying it too, she never liked any diet before. thanks
That is cool about the blood sugar. It is amazing how quickly the blood sugar can get more under control as one changes their diet. Congrats on inspiring your mom to try it too.
your food looks good. i am a diabetic and think the atkins would do me good. i watched to bbc atkins and they said that colesterol was good for the people that did the atkins, do you mine if i ask how is yours? peace
When I started Atkins, my total cholesterol was 195 with my LDL of 150 and HDL in 40s. Since then my cholesterol has dropped 50 points to 148/95/53. So my bad cholesterol went down, and my good went up. My triglycerides also dropped to near basement levels of 35. My doc could not be happier.
Mock Danish saved me last night! My husband went to the freezer and started scooping out his ice cream so I fired up the microwave and made a yummy low carb mock danish. Craving demolished.
Kent;) How do you fugure out the carb count in splenda is it diffrent; from the packets? OH u said in this video to count the spnda agianst ur artificial sugar count for the day, i read the atkins book i dont remember it saying anything about this?
The packets are "bulked" with maltodextrin (a complex carb), and it should be counted for .6 carbs per packet. The actual sucralose has no carbs, so if you use liquid Splenda (Ebay), you can avoid counting it.
On page 87 - "It (saccharin) can be safely consumed in moderation, meaning no more than three packets a day."
On page 95 - "Limit sweeteners to three packets a day."
Thanks for responding to my "sugar intake" question regarding the Cream Cheese. I was indeed confused about how you read the sugar grams in the Nutritional facts; I've was on the Adkins years ago, and I did lose a lot of weight but I never ate anything that indicated any sugar grams on the NF - never considering the ingrediants. I know that this should have been common sense. This is good news for me. This is why your videos are so so helpful. Thank you.
This looks yummy, however, I cannot find Cream Cheese without sugar. The closest to no sugar was less than one gram. Being on the induction, sugar is out, right? So, is this receipe for the maintenance phase or is there actually a cream cheese with no sugar somewhere? Thx for your videos ~
I think you are confusing added sugar (sugar in the ingredients) to natural sugar within the product -- like tomatoes or cream cheese. I just checked my Wal-mart brand cream cheese, and while it has sugar (1g) in the nut. info, it does not have any in the ingredients. Since it is on the Acceptable Foods List, the recipe is perfectly fine for Induction.
Oh good lord I just read your profile! Hello from Omaha! I grew up in Adel, Ia and Des Moines was my stomping grounds. Excellent videos! Keep em coming!
Hey - always good to hear from a fellow midwesterner! It must be the quality of the beef that drives most of us to stay low carb. :-) I am glad you liked the recipe.
Yep, everything is completely Induction legal. You do need also to be mindful of total sweetener limit per day of 3 servings (packet, can of pop, crystal light, etc.). I am glad you liked it.
Will adding things like Spenda cause a stall in a sugar additct like me? ;) I'm on day 4 now, and haven't had any sweet things. Should I just keep going? (I still really want sugary stuff every day! I find myself finding ways to include a tomato because it's tasting sweet to me now!)
Less sweetener the better. I have a feeling Dr. A really didn't think any artificial sweeteners were necessarily good, but granted them into the diet to make it more palatable. Could it stall you and cause cravings? Yes, there is a cephalic insulin reaction where the hormone insulin is released only because you thought were eating something sweet. You are doing very well in resisting the urge.
Veggies are definitely a lot sweeter and tastier on Atkins than before.
Thanks so much for your video. I have made this many times and it never turned out so good. You stirred it alot more than I ever did and that made all the difference. I would get eggy tasting clumps which I didn't like. I just ate it and it was soooo good. Thank you for your video.
I know what you mean. I was almost anti-egg before tasting this, so it made a convert out of me. Just remember your 3-4 oz cheese restriction per day, and you should be good to go.
What you're fed up of eggs? I must admit Ive never had a problem there, and never needed the sweetner either, despite having a sweet tooth. Everything tastes sweet when you limit your carbs to less than 10gms a day - for a month. Now I'm doing the low GI diet successfully. i'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Stevia?!
No, before Atkins I was never a fan of eggs. I just didn't like the taste. Now, I am all about quiches and custard dishes. Stevia's great, but it has the same problems all Artificial Sweetener have -- cephalic insulin reaction. I would still limit my intake to about 3-5 per day even during maintenance. I also have never cooked with it, so I am unsure how it does.
Haha. I've been making this all wrong for the past week. I leave out the topping, flax and vanilla, but I add in the cinnamon. It's still good. Also, I find that I like it more when I don't mix the cream cheese too much, so I get little chunks of cheesecake in it. :D I just found an Atkins for Life Kit at an arts&crafts store for 99 cents. Fact that is was there was so bizarre, so I knew I needed to get it for later. :D
That's what I like about it. It's so versatile to all tastes. Another good topping is strawberries crushed with a pinch of Splenda. I am glad you liked it. :-D
WOW!!! My husband and I have been on the Induction Phase for 11 days now. He loves eggs, but I hate them. I tried this today and LOVED IT!!! Thanks so much! Do you have anymore recipes like this for induction? We want to stay on it another week or so, because the atkins web-site says at least 14 days, and maybe longer.
Yep, I was on Induction for much longer than 14 days.. If you send me an e-mail (go to my website) and I'll send you a list of low carb of recipes. Even better head to Linda's Low carb recipes, and anything with a star is Induction legal.
You are limited to 3 servings of Artificial Sweeteners during Induction. Evenutally through OWL rungs, you can determine if you can tolerate more. I would however not necessarily have a treat/dessert at every meal. That seems more like a return to old habits.
I am glad you like them... I eat them at least 3 or 4 days a week. Somedays I put unsweetened strawberries on top instead of the topping, and it is really good like stuffed french toast.

It's a Wienerbrød. People in the U.S. call cream cheese pastries "Danishes." :-) Not that we want to poke fun of Northern Europeans - that's where my Grandma is from.
You have inspired me to get back on the Atkins train again. I am 1 day into induction. I wasn't aware of the artificial sweetner limit per day? Also is this allowed on induction? How many carbs do you think this has? I love the cooking segments, keep it up I need all the ideas I can get. I too am like you I love my sweets after a meal.
Hi, thanks for the recipe. You say to count the Splenda in your daily sweetener intake. What does that mean? Are there limits to how much sweetener you can have?
Yes, you are allowed 3 artificial sweetener servings per day on Atkins. That limit helps limit a lot of the I have to have dessert at every meal mentality and helps eliminate some of cephalic insulin reaction -- where your brains thinks it needs to release insulin even though you aren't eating sugars.
Thanks for the quick reply! I just finished my 2nd week of Induction but I'm going to extend with a week more or so, because I "cheated" the first week by eating Atkins Advantage bars, which I later found out weren't allowed. I haven't had any sweets since and must admit I'm a little afraid to ad them again, but I'll try and limit myself. Thanks again for putting these videos out there. I always look at them when I need to reassure myself that I'm on the right track.
It'll be a little runny at 90 seconds. I would make sure you have well mixed the egg with the cream cheese to get it to the correct color. If it helps increase the cream cheese by another half ounce. I am not a fan of eggs either, but I don't taste any of it with the cinnamon and cheese.
No, all the ingredients are Induction Friendly. Feel free to eat up to the cheese limit per day (3-4oz). As for where to find all the recipes written down, I do have most of them in a word document. Feel free to e-mail me for them.
It's a pastry similar to donut or sweet roll. Wikipedia has a pretty good article on Danish pastry. It typically has some fruit and a bunch of cream cheese.
It should be close no matter what microwave, but you are really just looking for it to be set in the middle. I am making a new video soon on low carb flourless chocolate cake - which is Laura's (my wife) new favorite dessert.
I just wanted to let you know I have been on atkins for 2months and already went down 3 almost 4 inchs in my waist. I make this mock danish for desert at night when I watch TV. Otherwise its meat meat meat...LOL
This was deliscious. I recommend adding a pinch of salt to the batter. I know its sounds weird, but it brigs out the flavor more. This recipie reminded me of bread pudding, but without the bread.
i have gone from 304 to 139 pounds and never once have counted my sweetners. i am one of the 25 percent who can use equal and still loose as the book says. i made this, it was great, kent, that was not a pinch of cinnamon, it was at least a teaspoon HarleyLady @ adbb
Does this work with strawberry cream cheese? ;D

@IrishFig It should. I really like adding fresh fruit to it rather than the flavored cream cheeses.

It looks more like what we in Denmark would call a 'brunsviger'.
What kind of flour do you use? Soy flour would be a good choise for a protein rich flour. Or am I wrong?
Let's say you ate a real danish, would you then get out of control and just eat like crazy? It happens to me when I eat too low fat.
te7as6b 2 years ago
There is no flour in the recipe. Just egg and cream cheese. Soy flour is ok in small doses, but I am not a big fan of the way it cooks or the aftertaste. Then you have the whole is soy good for you question.
For your other questions, it may certainly stimulate cravings and start a path of where your eating is no longer under control.

do you think I can use yoghurt instead of the cream cheese? It's just that I don't eat cheese at all...
mickysantos 2 years ago
You could, but it would be more tart and no longer Induction friendly.

MMMMM ... YUM! I just made this a few minutes ago and it was awesome! I left out the topping stuff and vanilla, but it was still delicious! Thanks for posting!

We call pastry treats danishes here. I had another person from Denmark call it a Wienerbrød.
bowulf 3 years ago
Hello, I just made this, and I may have a problem :( I purchased everything, and the vanilla I bought was mccormick 100% pure extract. After eating a couple of bites of the "danish", it seemed to have a really sweet taste. To my surprise, the vanilla ingredients are:vanilla bean, (35%)alcohol, and corn syrup! I did not eat the rest. Have i just blown nearly 2 weeks effort with my vanilla mistake? and just an extra note, I only used half the splenda you had mentioned...
thank you for your time
keleseth 3 years ago
No, I would continue where I was at. It wasn't a cheat so much as a mistake that was caught quick plus the amount of corn syrup was likely minimal in 1 tsp of vanilla syrup.

This was soo0 good. Makes a fantastic breakfast. On a side note, when I ate my first, I had no cravings for a second one. Didn't even occur to me that it would be anywhere near filling me up.
alexmcvey 3 years ago
I was just wondering if you have considered using Stevia instead of Splenda.
myfavoriteperson 3 years ago
I have tried regular Stevia and didn't like it. It had way too much of herby or metallic aftertaste. The new stuff Truvia is very good, but has 4g of Carbs per packet, so I am little more leery than a packet of Splenda with .6g. When I make the recipe now, I use liquid Splenda in it, and one third packet of Truvia on top.
bowulf 3 years ago
i tried this last night and i added a little lemon extract in mine, also I used 2 things of cream cheese b'/c i like it rich. also i but it in the fridge and the taste cold is sooo good. like a flan or custard. for the topping try mixing heavy cream, splenda, and vanilla to make a thick glaze, like icing.

Do you have a hot chocolate recipe that is induction friendly? Can I use cocoa powder mix and replace the sugar with splenda?
Gr8Hottie 3 years ago
Yep that is pretty much the recipe... Here is one that I found:
Low Carb Cocoa Recipe
1 spoon dutch processed cocoa - just make sure it is unsweetened
2-3 packets Splenda
Cream
Put the cocoa and Splenda in a mug and add hot water to about 2/3 full. Then add cream.
bowulf 3 years ago
Made this today. Very good!

Hi Kent, its Josh again, sorry to keep bothering you, but is that induction friendly? thanks Josh
redneck500 3 years ago
Yes it is. Eggs, Cream Cheese (within your daily limit of 3-4 oz), vanilla extract (spice) and artificial sweeteners (under 3x per day) are all allowed.
bowulf 3 years ago
OMG, I ate 2 of these today! Thanks for the recipe Bowulf, it's filling and sweet, and I will probably eat 2 a day for the next week, lol

That is cool about the blood sugar. It is amazing how quickly the blood sugar can get more under control as one changes their diet. Congrats on inspiring your mom to try it too.
bowulf 3 years ago
your food looks good. i am a diabetic and think the atkins would do me good. i watched to bbc atkins and they said that colesterol was good for the people that did the atkins, do you mine if i ask how is yours? peace
1dsunhope 3 years ago
When I started Atkins, my total cholesterol was 195 with my LDL of 150 and HDL in 40s. Since then my cholesterol has dropped 50 points to 148/95/53. So my bad cholesterol went down, and my good went up. My triglycerides also dropped to near basement levels of 35. My doc could not be happier.
bowulf 3 years ago
Mock Danish saved me last night! My husband went to the freezer and started scooping out his ice cream so I fired up the microwave and made a yummy low carb mock danish. Craving demolished.
Sadekat 3 years ago
Kent;) How do you fugure out the carb count in splenda is it diffrent; from the packets? OH u said in this video to count the spnda agianst ur artificial sugar count for the day, i read the atkins book i dont remember it saying anything about this?
nicsweed 3 years ago
The packets are "bulked" with maltodextrin (a complex carb), and it should be counted for .6 carbs per packet. The actual sucralose has no carbs, so if you use liquid Splenda (Ebay), you can avoid counting it.
On page 87 - "It (saccharin) can be safely consumed in moderation, meaning no more than three packets a day."
On page 95 - "Limit sweeteners to three packets a day."
I hope this helps.
bowulf 3 years ago
Thinks kent, this was just what i needed to know!
nicsweed 3 years ago
Thanks for responding to my "sugar intake" question regarding the Cream Cheese. I was indeed confused about how you read the sugar grams in the Nutritional facts; I've was on the Adkins years ago, and I did lose a lot of weight but I never ate anything that indicated any sugar grams on the NF - never considering the ingrediants. I know that this should have been common sense. This is good news for me. This is why your videos are so so helpful. Thank you.
Patrizia817 3 years ago
This looks yummy, however, I cannot find Cream Cheese without sugar. The closest to no sugar was less than one gram. Being on the induction, sugar is out, right? So, is this receipe for the maintenance phase or is there actually a cream cheese with no sugar somewhere? Thx for your videos ~
Patrizia817 3 years ago
I think you are confusing added sugar (sugar in the ingredients) to natural sugar within the product -- like tomatoes or cream cheese. I just checked my Wal-mart brand cream cheese, and while it has sugar (1g) in the nut. info, it does not have any in the ingredients. Since it is on the Acceptable Foods List, the recipe is perfectly fine for Induction.
bowulf 3 years ago

Hey - always good to hear from a fellow midwesterner! It must be the quality of the beef that drives most of us to stay low carb. :-) I am glad you liked the recipe.
bowulf 3 years ago
This is wonderful! Today I added a T. of Sugar Free caramel syrup instead of the splenda. WOW
susique333 3 years ago
Hay m8 you have been an insperation to me!. Can you let me know how may NETCARBS are in this? Thanks...
glpmail 3 years ago
About 3 or 4g of net carbs depending on if you use granulated or liquid Splenda and if you include the flax meal.
bowulf 3 years ago
Yep, everything is completely Induction legal. You do need also to be mindful of total sweetener limit per day of 3 servings (packet, can of pop, crystal light, etc.). I am glad you liked it.
bowulf 3 years ago
Will adding things like Spenda cause a stall in a sugar additct like me? ;) I'm on day 4 now, and haven't had any sweet things. Should I just keep going? (I still really want sugary stuff every day! I find myself finding ways to include a tomato because it's tasting sweet to me now!)
emilyjaynevideo 3 years ago
Less sweetener the better. I have a feeling Dr. A really didn't think any artificial sweeteners were necessarily good, but granted them into the diet to make it more palatable. Could it stall you and cause cravings? Yes, there is a cephalic insulin reaction where the hormone insulin is released only because you thought were eating something sweet. You are doing very well in resisting the urge.
Veggies are definitely a lot sweeter and tastier on Atkins than before.
bowulf 3 years ago
Thanks so much for your video. I have made this many times and it never turned out so good. You stirred it alot more than I ever did and that made all the difference. I would get eggy tasting clumps which I didn't like. I just ate it and it was soooo good. Thank you for your video.
AnonPerson2005 3 years ago
Glad you found my mad beating of the egg useful. I personally hate an eggy taste too, so that was what really made the dish palatable to me.

OMG - I made my first one this morning and it was FANTASTIC. My fear is that I want MORE!!! Eggs never tasted so good.
myweight 3 years ago
I know what you mean. I was almost anti-egg before tasting this, so it made a convert out of me. Just remember your 3-4 oz cheese restriction per day, and you should be good to go.
bowulf 3 years ago
What you're fed up of eggs? I must admit Ive never had a problem there, and never needed the sweetner either, despite having a sweet tooth. Everything tastes sweet when you limit your carbs to less than 10gms a day - for a month. Now I'm doing the low GI diet successfully. i'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Stevia?!
Rabidavid 3 years ago
No, before Atkins I was never a fan of eggs. I just didn't like the taste. Now, I am all about quiches and custard dishes. Stevia's great, but it has the same problems all Artificial Sweetener have -- cephalic insulin reaction. I would still limit my intake to about 3-5 per day even during maintenance. I also have never cooked with it, so I am unsure how it does.
bowulf 3 years ago
TrueLoveWithin 3 years ago
That's what I like about it. It's so versatile to all tastes. Another good topping is strawberries crushed with a pinch of Splenda. I am glad you liked it. :-D

WOW!!! My husband and I have been on the Induction Phase for 11 days now. He loves eggs, but I hate them. I tried this today and LOVED IT!!! Thanks so much! Do you have anymore recipes like this for induction? We want to stay on it another week or so, because the atkins web-site says at least 14 days, and maybe longer.
enejce 3 years ago
Yep, I was on Induction for much longer than 14 days.. If you send me an e-mail (go to my website) and I'll send you a list of low carb of recipes. Even better head to Linda's Low carb recipes, and anything with a star is Induction legal.
bowulf 3 years ago
looks yummy! i am confused though- what is the limit for artificial sweeteners on induction and the other phases? thanks for the videos!
callmepepper 3 years ago
You are limited to 3 servings of Artificial Sweeteners during Induction. Evenutally through OWL rungs, you can determine if you can tolerate more. I would however not necessarily have a treat/dessert at every meal. That seems more like a return to old habits.
bowulf 3 years ago
thank you for your advice!!! keep up the great videos! <3

Baked as directed without splenda.
Instead of the topping, I spread a little Smucker's Sugar Free Strawberry preserves. "Sweetend with Splenda" It was awesome.
Try it!

OrgasmatronYYZ 4 years ago
It's a Wienerbrød. People in the U.S. call cream cheese pastries "Danishes." :-) Not that we want to poke fun of Northern Europeans - that's where my Grandma is from.
bowulf 4 years ago
Oh that sounds so good!! I'm going to make this for breakfast tomorrow. :)

You have inspired me to get back on the Atkins train again. I am 1 day into induction. I wasn't aware of the artificial sweetner limit per day? Also is this allowed on induction? How many carbs do you think this has? I love the cooking segments, keep it up I need all the ideas I can get. I too am like you I love my sweets after a meal.
stephsemail72 4 years ago
Yes, this is allowed on Induction (everything is within the limits of it and on the acceptable foods list). Here are the carb counts:
Per serving: 283 Calories; 25g Fat; 11g Protein; 4g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 4g Net Carbs
Glad you like the videos.
bowulf 4 years ago
I was looking for a way to add yucky eggs to my diet and this is it! Delicious. Thanks so much.
scuffino 4 years ago
Hi, thanks for the recipe. You say to count the Splenda in your daily sweetener intake. What does that mean? Are there limits to how much sweetener you can have?
sluttymary 4 years ago
Yes, you are allowed 3 artificial sweetener servings per day on Atkins. That limit helps limit a lot of the I have to have dessert at every meal mentality and helps eliminate some of cephalic insulin reaction -- where your brains thinks it needs to release insulin even though you aren't eating sugars.
bowulf 4 years ago
Thanks for the quick reply! I just finished my 2nd week of Induction but I'm going to extend with a week more or so, because I "cheated" the first week by eating Atkins Advantage bars, which I later found out weren't allowed. I haven't had any sweets since and must admit I'm a little afraid to ad them again, but I'll try and limit myself. Thanks again for putting these videos out there. I always look at them when I need to reassure myself that I'm on the right track.

90 seconds does not seem long enough. and why is the one you made bright yellow and the pic you used a beige color.
maybe i am afraid of eggs, I hate them. They skieve me out. I know you don't have to do lf on Atkins, but I like eggwhites.
todieandwither 4 years ago
It'll be a little runny at 90 seconds. I would make sure you have well mixed the egg with the cream cheese to get it to the correct color. If it helps increase the cream cheese by another half ounce. I am not a fan of eggs either, but I don't taste any of it with the cinnamon and cheese.
