i just went to the site of buick, and what did i see? A buch of clones from eachother that all look like average japanese cars. Not a single model looks different from the other, and in the add above their site on the 3th page appears a.......ricer! No wonder those cars look like shit, because it seems that designer is an extinct occupation. Maybe the americans should hire some european designers, and start design retro cars, because retro cars are hot these days, so why don't they get that?
I bet it has a 4 banger in it, I blasted my (Japanese made) Speakers and I couldnt hear shit from that engine. 455 make a notoriesly loud grumble, even stock 455 would be chugging and gulping.
@HeroSavage Maybe take a moment and look at his other videos too before making yourself look like a complete idiot.... There is a wonderful invention called a muffler, perhaps he doesn't want a loud car.. ever think of that? -_-
Incredibly ominous! I can only imagine the reaction you must get from people, in Japan, of all places! I can remember the first one of these I saw when I was 9, in '78 or '79, dark red with a white top. Left quite an impression on me.
I used to have a '58 Special and a '59 Electra (in black). Buicks have this weird, almost gothic, strangeness. Like grotesquely beautiful deep sea fish, with a big mouth full of teeth. Buick were the masters of creating ominous, intimidating, sinister tank. Thanks for posting this. You own one of the coolest cars on this planet.
How the hell can a japanese guy look over the steering wheel of that? must have a childs seat in the driving seat. And strap on briks at the feet for the gas and brake
If u haven't seen it already, rent Red Rock West. yeah, dennis hopper, nic cage, blah blah are in it--but the star of the movie is a mint black w/black leather interior '72. the cameraman and director were obviously in love with it! check out the scene where it's racing with train and manages to pull ahead of the engine and cut across the tracks!
the rear view is like a mini-riviera. the sweeping glass etc. you can see that it's a prototype for the larger car. oh, his name's bill mitchell, not bob.
dont be discouraged, depending on what part of the country your in, you may be able to pick up one for 2 or 3, ive seen them that low out here in southern cali...theyll need work no doubt, but you should be able to find one you can at least drive on a daily basis while you fix it up...not to mention OPGI is starting to make reproduction parts for them soon. good luck in your search.
Now I am curious, I must ask you C3r72m92, were these cars ever sold in Japan during the 1970s or they had to be later imported by particular individuals?

Riviera boattail is a nice car ;) very nice :) try to put some just a little bit bigger wheels :) one or two inches, cos for now they are just to tiny for such a big car and maybe some chrome mirros, the car is to dark in the center it looks like the handle is not enough
