but using adblock plus on firefox, it seems to remove it.

well you can choose where to download it if you want, I mean specify a different downloads folder. Also you can specify to not open automatically if you want. Not sure if you can tell it to not start downloadin automatically, but on most sites it will start automatically regardless of browser (i.e. the click here if download does not start automatically message)

the new safari 4 beta took me away from opera. I recommend Audium, colloquy, transmission, fairmount +any dvd ripper, or just mac the ripper.(they fixed handbrake so it doesnt rip DVD's) so, you launch fairmount to decrypt and then rip with any ripper, or just use mac the ripper which has it built in. I also recommend simply burns, or burn, audacity, audialhub, visualhub, the unarchiver, split and concat. etc. I do a lot of video editing, etc etc. encoding, if you need anthing->send me a comment
