anyone have a suggestion on which version to get of Ys? I used to play the old (SNES? GENESIS?) versions and I am trying to get back into it. I got a PS3 and a PSP and I can deal with the loading times if the game is decent no problem. If there is a good PS2 version I can get that as well.
Once I learn more japanese I am going to get Origin. Idk about translating it though...I might since I do want to be a translator in the future
@Nintendo122333 Contrary to popular belief, it's NOT pronounced Ease. It's pronounced as if you were going to say the word East, but got rid of the t.
@TheRealVahnLegaia You are aware Ease and "East" without the T are the exact same pronunciation, right? Unless you're a southern hillbilly and pronounce words oddly.
@Niluxmidd They actually aren't, though. Ease would be pronounced as if you were saying something like, "2 E's". The E part of the word is extended and emphasized more than in east. I'd say that if you're pronouncing the word "east" like "Ease-t", then maybe you should look at the way you're talking before you start making not-so-subtle attacks on people. And for the record, no, I'm not a "southern hillbilly."
@TheRealVahnLegaia I didn't mean to offend. It's just that every time I get into this sort of argument and I see videos posted by the person arguing, I hear redneck accents. It's not even worth my time trying to argue pronunciation with people who sound like Larry the cable guy. Disregard if it doesn't apply to you.
@Niluxmidd Wow. I'm actually happy to see someone who doesn't explode into rage when someone debates something they said. =o You sir, have earned some respect from me. Also, yeah, I wasn't overly offended, really. But I do video game playthroughs, so you can see how I sound on those. lol Anyway, wasn't trying to offend you either.
It's based on a legend that is somewhere between Britannia and Ireland. A mermaid's tale of a sanctified place inhabited by few called ys. The abbreviation would be simply (Eis). It's like saying the word Is but with more of a Southern feel to it. you know what I'm talking about.
I know a lot about Ys. If you want, I can tell you more about the origins and the mythical city itself.
Y'$ why u have to be called such a stupid name nobody can pronounce....-.-

Interesting tid-bit there, Atma. I always pronounced it as "wise" back in the day. It just seemed right to me.

Ys is Ys. It's not an abbreviation. It's the name of the world (or a part of the world anyway).

This song reminds me how much the bosses kick my ass. At least the music catchy enough to make me not mind so much.
