I'm glad they haven't remade this game. They would only screw it up. Maybe if Shinji Mikami was still at Capcom he could pull it off but if they did it now they would ruin it and make it like RE4. Just keep this classic game as it is.

@alogan83 I reckon if Mikami was still at Capcom we could have seen a RE2 REmake.

Recent RE games, post-Mikami, have been action-orientated, and the likely reason for this is that classic RE is very much a hardcore game; limited ammo and saves, and having to figure the game out, are things which hardcore gamers love, but casual gamers hate.

I'd like a return to more exploration, going back to the game's roots while innovating, Dead Space shows what a modern RE game could be like.

I think RE2 is a great game. But when the Gamecube version is almost 20 bucks more used than the identical n64 version, there is little reason to even consider the gamecube game.

I love resi 2, but they were being lazy with this game. Why bother remaking the first game for gamecube if you're gonna just port the dreamcast resident evil 2 onto a much more powerful system? Just imagine how awesome a completely remade resi 2 would be with redone graphics and layout. They went through the effort of making the first resi one of the most atmospheric games ever made, but I had no idea what they were thinking with this one.

@retrogamingfanatic They were lazy with the Dreamcast port, too. It's not very impressive for a Dreamcast game, it as more or less a shovelware port of the Dual Shock version on the PS1, except it ran at a higher FPS.

Still a fantastic game, I just wish that the PC, DC and GC versions took advantage of the vastly superior hardware they were running on.

The Rookie mode makes the game easier with a machine gun that has an infinite ammo. I guess that's all they have in this game, but no blood color.

Hell yeah. I'm 24, and I play Resident Evil 5 with this 16 year old friend of mine... then, when i go out and get a ps1, and Resident Evil 2 for nostalgia, all the kid does is hate on it, and say how shit the graphics are... i try to explain to him how graphics dont' mean much, and how the story is FAR better than Resident Evil 5, not to mention how, despite the dated graphics, RE2 delivers more scares and suspence. He just laughed, and called the game shit. Fucking children.

I find RE2 to be a smidge overrated. The original however blew me away during it's release. RE2 however while a solid sequal kind of irked me. I hated Leon....His character design looked cartoony, and his asian styled Gackt mushroom cut didn't help either, coupled by his tacky japanese blue jump suite.lol

And it wasn't scary or haunting at all like the original either....The best part of RE2, was the very very beginning when you were outside for 15 minutes on the streets.lol

I thought leon was a better character than most because he was always trying to help and save people, and that carried over in 4, making leon seem like a good person. Cant really disagree on his police outfit, very Japanese inspired, but he had to wear it. Im not gay, but i stick up for leon because he's an awesome character who doesnt deserve bashing.

@pvsg1990 The RE2 on gamecube is a port of the original RE2 that came out in the late 90's. They never made a remake of RE2. The graphics arn't as good, but the game is AWESOME!!! Trust me, it's oldschool but it's one of the best games I ever played. Also play the original RE1 game if you are feeling really oldschool... good good game aswell

@theMNmetaldude RE2 PSX came out in 1998,RE2 on GC is a port of a port a PSX game ported to Dreamcast and then ported to Gamecube.Retrozone at RetroUSB.com has a SNES controller to GC controller port adapter(works on Wii for the Vitual Console 2D games)since RE 1,2,3,and 4 uses the D-pad to move as well as the analog stick I use it to play RE, plus fighting games and there one for a PSX controller and it has the same button layout as the PSX RE games.

its probably a port because they crammed 2 ps1 discs into one mini disc because with metal gear solid the twin snakes (MGS1 Remake) they kept it on 2 discs and had room for better graphics, or... NINTENDO'S A BUNCH OF LAZY ASSES WHO COULDN'T GIVE IT OR RESIDENT EVIL 3 BETTER GRAPHICS WHEN THEY WERE RELEASED FOR THE GAMECUBE!!!

i remember i have seen a scene of the gamecube version and it was cutted.. the part where the reporter guy in the cell dies: in the original the corpse of him splatters in two and there comes a thing out of him which is short after that a endboss... so its not the same
