It doesn't mean women should be a door mat to be used and abused. If the man doesn't want to take on his responsibility that's another issue. Some men today do not understand their role or are not equipped to take on that responsibility. I believe the absence of good male role-modles is part of the problem. Many like myself didn't have a father around to look up to and learn from, but I know my responsibility. So often the single mother is playing both roles and that's a lot to take on.

Nothing wrong with everyone playing their position. However, in order for a relationship like this to work both parties have to be mature, it shouldn't solely be on the woman to be "submissive". I agree with much of what you just said however I only have one point to make. This term, mostly used by the Women's Liberation movement, the term "Let Your Man be a Man," and to this I say... What? Thats the equivalent of me saying I'm gonna let the sky be blue or the grass be green. This statement gives Women in my opinion a falls since of power, whereby creating the illusion that she is the "be all to end all' of a relationship, thereby creating a failed relationship at its start.
