@hadra568 thanx so much for explaining that because I was like "wha?" when he made the reference. That's the one regret I have being born in the 90s. I missed so much great television and music from the 60s and 70s. :D
Okay, John, you can eat all the stems you want, some of us may prefer not to eat stems. I agree with Alton, when eating greens, cut off the stems and throw them away. Especially since the dish he was cooking only called for the green top . . .
This was good information, but one thing he said was way off. The stem of the beet is completely eatable and delicious. Take the leaf and the stems cut them in 1 to 1 1/2 inches and cook them in chicken or beef broth with 1 chopped onion they are delicous. NEVER throw the stem away..
I've had beets prepared like AB's shown, and I still can't eat them. I seriously become nausiated when they touch my throat, but people need to give this root another chance because their still seriously.....you know :)
@ncisheadslapper actually, if you watch closely, they edited the show so that you never actually see him eating one. It always cuts away or cuts to him right after, so he could have just pretended there was one there when there really wasn't. And as for the soup, perhaps the bowl he had was made without the oysters in it so that he could be shown eating it. Just some speculations :-)
The ingredient called for Ritz crackers. Not CRACKER brand crackers. Sad day.

Do you need to peel the beets for the the glazed recipe in the saute pan?
mrmorganmusic 4 years ago
i dont think so, it should be fine unpeeled, the skins are still very thin and not bitter yet, or peel them... either way should work ok
amazingsteve101 4 years ago
I think not because he said to use a little scrubby thing - which he did BEFORE removing the skins.
momobear101 3 years ago

A little sound desynchronization doesn't matter as long as it's good eats.
