Yeah, back then they didn't have radar systems, but there are hundreds of functions for just the radar packages in fighter jets now, that a WWII pilot wouldn't be able to do shit in them. Respect to WWII pilots, but pilots now are at a higher calibur than they ever have been.

@66gt40lm of course the instruments in the cockpit are gonna be more complicated, but I was talking more about the combat side of it....technology doesn't make the pilot... the highest scoring aces of all time came out of WW2, men like Werner Molders, Erich Hartmann, Gunther Rall, Adolf Galland, Joachim Marseilles, combined, these 5 men shot down 990 enemy aircraft and their were alot of others with high scores also, using nothing but there eyes, reflexes, actually aiming and firing

I promise, if we get into a war with China, Russia, or North Korea, that we will destroy them even worse than pilots' did back in WWII. Yes, the guys back in WWII were badasses, I understand that, but now pilots have physical stresses along with mental stresses to deal with. I'd like to see WWII pilots pull 9G's+ and not pass out and still get a kill. It's harder now than ever.

@66gt40lm well you do make a good point of no air to air these days, I agree with you. I realize that the strong G's weren't around back then because no plane at the time could handle it . But those pilots did suffer from a different kind of physical stress, lack of rest, (especially for the Germans) and mental, knowing that every time you go out on a sortie, it could be your last, the fighting during that war was fierce, no air battles will ever be fought like that again

I myself am a member of the ATC (Air Training Corps) and i have flown a Grob Tutor twice... the first time i did aerobatics (loops, flew upside down etc.) with another pilot in the cockpit with me the second time i was acctually aloud to take the plane off and fly to different places for an hour the fighter pilot which was in the cockpit with me landed it.

@Ninox37 For the most part, a good percentage of the officer jobs in the military just require degrees of any kind. However, there are some degrees that are mandatory to do certain jobs. Such as Engineering or something in the medical field. You'd have to have those type degrees. But for jobs like Pilot/Nav, ABM, logistics or security it doesn't matter. Your degree could be dog walking or basket weaving. They just want a college degree.
