  • Lol vtec not wired up right? It took is three times to figure out where the pins should go because I did a jdm swap, the pins line up differently with the jdm ecu I'm running lol. Any ways that b16 should be stomping that ls. But you could be right. A good tune is what majesty your times :)

  • Vtec motors are built stronger, and will last longer than the ls if u do some building. Its just not the head buddy the bottom end are built stronger.

  • GSR = 2 oil jets per cylinder, oem block girdle, 9mm rod bolts, direct oil jet to head, gsr crank and connecting rods have a longer stroke. 10:1 comp stock.

    ls = n/a oil jets per cylinder, n/a oem block girdle, 8mm rod bolts, n/a oil jet to head. ls crank and connecting rods have shorter stroke. 9:1 comp stock.

    the only thing that would make block better between the 2 are the rod bolts w/ 1mm difference and the OEM block girdle which only helps @ higher rpms.

  • I see guys at the track running 12s with stock ls motors on bottle all day. My buddy is one of them he runs a 150 shot all day on stock LS at the track no probs. Just some knowledge and tuning. I might not run that but that also doesnt mean i would take the Ls on bottle over my H all motor

  • and no; not only b/c i have a "good" clutch (p.s. ACT Stage 2) i started beating gsrs; i started doing that after also aquiring headers; a nice suspension; ecu(mapped) waiting 4 chip; & some tuning as well... LS r NOT that great; & if u had the choice of an LS or a Type r motor; come on now; dont tell me u wouldnt go for the "Vtec valve cover"... unless u r really that ignorant...

  • Tony Vtec man, Someday you will learn that paying a lot of money to have Vtec stamped on your valve cover isn't going to always be better then a non vtec motor..

    My buddies EG hatch with a stock B18(ls),ITR tranny, and a good clutch would eat 90% of stock GSR,B16a swaps anyday.. 14.0 on motor and 12.9 on the bottle, no shit.

  • dont do that altay... LS motors aint all that bro; ppl do vtec heads on em & next thing u know if u dont do it right ur shit is fucking up or smokin after 5-6 months... we see this happen all the time in FL man... I either spank or at least hang (if their worked on...) w/ EF LS's w/ my SOHC Vtec ALL DAY; of course I got ACT Stage 2 clutch; headers,ECU & other things (it aint running "perfect" right now either)...

  • guys i dont know why but i too have a b16 ef and i too got beaten buy a ls and it was in a ek we even switched vehicles to see if it was the driver but it aint. should i had known i would have bought a ls myself

  • But if I do a dohc swap; im going B20/Vtec; but done right. B20 blocks hold stronger than the LSs when built right; & get way more compression when puttin a B16 head on em 4 exampl. LS motors R not racing oriented; thats what the GSRs & Type R motors r. The block IS NOT the same(I know some ignorant idiot will probably say they r) & when putting a B18C5 or GSR head, LSs dont last long...

  • Ls block would hold alittle stronger than a b20 because it has thicker cylinder walls

  • ls/b20 vtec both wont last long unless they are tuned good and are in good condition

  • p.s. maybe u should check if something is wrong w ur B16 bro; I wouldnt change ur motor 4 an ls even if that shit was 4 free...

  • 737273 bro... someday U will learn that some ppl actually know about this things; since they have experience in such & have worked in such. im not saying i know it all; but i have worked my share of time on honda motors/performance. now; w/a "stock" ls u will NOT "eat" gsrs necesarily man. i have a 14s sohc vtec ef & i DESTROY LS(stock motor) EF counterparts; NO SHIT...

  • I really cant understand wat happened there, unless the ef needs a better driver maybe??? a B16 ef should easily to woop an LS EG(if it is non/vtec)...even the eg having a b16 head the ef should be able to keep up with it... i dont know,seems weird...
