  • Awesome ! and the right amount of lens flare too

  • Impressive!

  • Wau... those are some really BIG numbers on the hull O_O Can i ask please what was providing that blinding stream of white light that illuminates the starboard side above and below? At first i thought it was light from the cloud you can see at the edges of the frame but then as it turns away from us (or we fly over the saucer section) there is a narrow stream of white light (0:18) What cosmic flashlight is supposedly making that?

  • you are very talented sir :)

  • Shame on you for having the ship change direction while at warp. You're breaking canon established by that one stupid ep of voyager.

  • @propanealex "JANEWAY: Tom, what's the first thing they teach you about maneuvering at warp?

TOM: "Faster than light, no left or right." When possible, maintain a linear trajectory. Course corrections could fracture the hull." So CAN they maneuver at warp? YES.. SHOULD they maneuver at warp? Paris and Janeway did not think so, but there are few references to 'warp maneuvering' even in TOS, and remember.. this is the alternate timeline Enterprise.. and those nacelles look very sturdy ^_~.

  • Is vthat bthe same 'Madman' that has the very cool website of Franz Joseph ships re-done in Abrams-verse style looks?

Can you guys animate a Saladin-class Destroyer? (Named USS Cochise NCC-530)

    Just wondering.

    - The Music Loving Klingon

  • Excellent work

  • fantastic animation, espcecially as it's done in free software, I keep playing with blender, but find it so hard, well done for this, I particularly love the light reflection on the ship

  • AMAZING

  • Awesome.

  • Pretty amazing work, it would be interesting to see some kind of short space-battle with this and maybe a klingon cruiser.

Gotta say though, I never really liked this new design for the Enterprise, I way prefer the refit constitution class. But it's still a well-made model on your part.

  • Kind of looks like a 57 chevy.

  • Very nicely done

  • She's a beautiful ship... I don't care what the nay-sayers say.

  • that was nice! good job!

  • Looks like the real thing, wonderful job!

  • okay, it's been over a year now, where's the rest of the movie so i can watch this legitimately on youtube? :P

  • man, you should get into game designing & CGI work, this is bloody awesome looking :D

  • I like this version ALOT better.. still love those classic lines...

  • Nice video, but that movie, that Enterprise, and tht music SUCKED Ferengi ASS!

  • dammit man.....lol that was cool!

  • All ahead WARP SPEED FUN!!

  • my friend you are on your way to join the top dogs in cgi animation.

  • How many Polys/Triangles on the ship mesh?

Very nice btw. Im just getting into 3d modeling and Might not ever hit your level.

  • omg that was awesome

  • Wow! I didn't know blender is so powerful!!!

  • How wonderful. This video made me getting goosebumps for 32 seconds! It´s brilliant! The slow camera moving, the impressive colors and the NCC-1701 majestically floating through space. It´s great, I like it!

  • WOW very good animation and materials

  • Hate the Abramsprise but this was good work none the less.

  • I seriously need to learn how to use this program!!!!

  • "jaw dropping"

  • you nailed the texture maps and the reflections perfect just like in the the intro of the kalven

  • I dunno. I don't think it's inappropriate to have the enterprise warping off into space. The movie wasn't focused on space travel or exploration at all. I think it would be more appropriate to have an ending sequence where the enterprise destroys a bunch of ships with futuristic quantum torpedoes supplied by future spock. And then add in a sassy hateful remark from kirk. That would be more appropriate to the movie.

  • omg! looks like the movie xD

  • beautiful

  • Wow, thats good

  • bloody brilliant!! :D

  • This is definitely proof of the fact that free rendering software is getting closer to duplicating the quality of commercial systems. Only a matter of time before entire graphics firms start using it as their primary platform. I think the limiting factor is Blender doesn't have great support for Farm Rendering yet.

  • Very nice. Great stuff.

  • wow, this is amazing! I've been working FOREVER with Blender, and can't get anything decent.... :(

  • what track is this from?

  • u forgot the opening ports for the plasma exhaust on the nacelles...thy opened as well and glowed blue in the movie....

  • I hate the new ship, but that ain't your fault.

What I LOVE is this video! That is some killer Blender work! You rock. This clip could have been dropped right into that movie, and it would have been one of the best shots.

Great job! (Just please don't start throwing lens flares into every single shot, like Abrams did. I still feel like I'm tripping from all his flares!)

  • I am in awe of this... How did you get the ship to stretch?

  • lol @ both Routhoula and Treknologist.

    Very well done Uuris. ;)

  • If only you had the Leonard Nimoy voice over and then this would be almost indistinguishable from the real thing... Awesome

  • Ehh........it's better than the effects on "Superman IV: Quest For Peace".

  • Make...tutorial...now...please...

  • i wish there was a device that could shove all creative knowledge in your head. i wish i could make 3d modeling and animation, but i cant even paint a proper face on a paper with a pencil.

  • Insufficient lens flare.

  • @Treknologist JJ Abrams Startrek made me afraid of Lense Flare

  • oh shit, It s photorealistic

  • Apart from the lens flare, how much are you using nodes as opposed to straight render? Ever thought of doing a tutorial?

  • u forgot one part...there are parts on the nacelles u forgot that open when going to warp...take a look at the movie

  • COMPLETE WITH FLARES!!!! O_o

although, of course, Mr. Abrams would say that there's still not enough flares. <_<

I say, however, that this is a perfect balance. Good job!

  • Great cam moves and light effects, especially the spec across the upper hull. really sells it. what comp program did you use?

  • wow you should really work for a movie company.

This was so perfect I thought you were lying and got the clip directly off the movie (lol)

The only thing that changed it was the color of the space and how the back of the engines looked.

    Great render!

  • Hey, are some of the windows flickering...ish?

  • honestly. Yuor work is freaking CINEMATIC. Meaning you got stuff that will do just fine in a theatrical film, Star Trek or otherwise.

  • I would love to know how the texture was done, even more so the spec, and the diffuse map. If you can pass any tips on that would be awesome.

  • OH DEAR GOD! This is soooooo perfect.

  • Suh-WEET! You should be a more professional special effects creator.

  • Nice!!

  • how do you do lens flares in blender???

  • I used compositing nodes for the lens flares, I did them manually because I dont like the results of the built in glare filter in the compositing-nodes...

  • Idea stealer!!!! Lol xD.

Brilliant work on the video. Makes me wish I had that model when I was rendering my recreation :).

Your animation is perfect as always, although the ship does end up facing just a little too far to the left at the end. But then again, making a 1:1 copy of the movie scene wouldn't be much fun ^^.

One other small thing I'd like to suggest is that you turn down the specular texture just a bit.

  • Hahhah! :P Yep the specular-level is ingredibly bright, i have fixed it but im not sure if im going to upload an updated version because of the ingredibly long rendering times, almost 10 minutes per frame...

  • @Uuris 10 mins per frame isn't bad. Just let it render overnight! Great work on this shot though! I've been learning a lot about Blender lately and it's really cool to see people like you produce quality work like this with it!

  • truly amazing work ! good on you, sir !

  • Man, I will say it again because I have to... AWESOME!

  • Great, but I think the warp jump should be faster.

  • its allright. its very similar.

i would say on a scale from 1 to 10 on how close it looks to the ship in the movie i would say an 8.

  • WOW! INCREDIBLE! Are you doing this from Linux or Windows?

  • Windows... :D

  • This was really cool. The New Enterprise had a nice morphing of the TOS Enterprise and the TMP Enterprise. I loved it.

  • @JohnBachofer me too

  • @JohnBachofer I agree altough I find the nacelles a tad bit ladie... she's a starship not a rocket!

  • the only thing that's missing is the cool moving parts of the deflector and nacelle caps.

  • yep, :P I have been modifying madman´s enterprise, just finished the deflector and now moving on to the nacelles, but im not going to uplad any updated versions of this clip because of the enormous render times...

  • Whoa...I would seriously swear i just saw the real deal.

  • not bad. only the saucer section colour gray is to shiny ! ?

  • Not bad.
