Vela is played in a more wide role now. Chamakh is a poacher whose purpose is to sit around in the box and wait for easy goals. He also has a very good aeriel ability which enables Arsenal just to cross a ball in and hope he can get on the end. He is not as fast as Vela but that is obvious given his role and structure.

The reason Vela is not in the line up is because players such as Walcott, Nasri, Arshavin and occasionally Eboue are keeping him out.
