  • great video, im looking for techniques not on my syllabus and this helps a lot, thanks

  • Awesome!

  • JUJUTSU ,OSU!!!

  • good job! :) I will try it! xD

  • great techniques, great music and editing as well ! *****

  • Thanks reyedk --- It's interesting. Since paired practice captured in this video was unscripted, truly showcasing the tori's creativity (the footage is largely unedited, and since my sempai, the tori, doesn't know how I will attack, there are a handful of pauses to assess before definitively executing his responses), it's probably my favorite video on this channel so far, yet clearly one of the least appreciated by YouTubers as a whole.

I plan to do more of these featuring different students.

  • is this traditional japanese jiu-jutsu

  • wow! amazing moves!! ^^ i like the music in the background too!

  • Ah, thanks! All the music in my videos (other than the cup beat in my other video) are original compositions.

Most of the defensive responses you see in this video have an aikido equivalent or something similar.

  • Cooool....

  • excellent :)

  • Real nice well done!! 5 stars!!!!!

  • Thanks Robert-san.

  • i've been wanting to take self defense for a while, but never knew what kind to take, juijitsu sounds like fun, capioera is pretty sick shit too.

  • Diva --- Capoeira looks fun -- techniques, the music, overall vibe. Very acrobatic with (typically) less emphasis on self defense. But hey, if you have a capoeira school near you that's self-defense focused since that's what you want, you should enjoy it!

Classical Japanese jujutsu is well rounded, challenging and rewarding. But, a lot of classical jujutsu, like capoeira, emphasizes art over practicality. I'll send you a message about what to look for in a self-defense school.

  • to be honnest i dont think capoiera is a martial arts or even a self defense, may be is more fun because of the music. but truely i see no fighting spirit and the attitude .... no sorry !

  • There are elements of capoeira that have self-defense applicability (e.g. leg sweeps, evasions, disruption of attack)., but neomaresque brings up a valid point: the spirit and attitude of acrobatic performance is very different than the mindset of self defense. The capoeira school would llikely have to teach a self-defense curriculum separate from pure capoeira.
