i cant decide which i like better, i want the Elise because its cheaper, a convertible, and i think looks better, but i want a evora too and no way my stripped out car is gonna be faster than my gran tourer it would defeat the purpose
So, whats the difference between a elise and an exige??? i like em both but id like to know which one has more power or handling n stuff please help me with my question...Thanks...
The exige is like a hardcore elise, more downforce, slicker tyres (therefore more grip) and faster off the line but don't get me wrong the elise is still a quick car. The exige has harder suspension and has a fixed hardtop so you can't take the roof off also you cant see through the rear window.
So.. if you want a lotus for its track performance, get an exige or if you want a lotus to go out in on a nice day and have fun, get an elise [even better get an SC, very close to exige performance]
The Exige generates much more downforce than the Elise due to the aerodynamics. When I was at Lotus/Hethel anniversary day last year, I went for passenger laps in both, and the Exige is even more amazing than the Elise with Lotus test drivers at the wheel. He reckoned, on the full track, the Exige would be 4 seconds or more faster than an Elise. That's a lot, considering Hethel is a smallish track. The Exige is a pretty hardcore machine though... not very practical or comfortable. I want one!
given less than 15% difference in horsepower the exige shouldn't pull faster in the way the video shows - such difference is not vigorous enough for sudden passes! of course also the elise shouldn't pass like it did!
Exige S in the video as tested is about 220bhp. Elise S as in the video is about 135bhp.
They were just playing with eachother for the camera. Of course the Exige would be much faster in all areas of performance due to the track-rubber it wears and the track-optimised suspension.
funny thing is you can see the exige play with the elise, better handling, as you watch the back end kick out on the elise, the exige's holds, then passes
I was at lotus Factory today and they had one tesla that they had built it was a black one and I asked the tour guide if it was a tesla and he denied all knowledge. until the end of the tour when he told me i was right. he also could not tell me anymore other than it was built their!
Yeah, the white one is the exige. I don't like the video editing in this one. It's hard to tell when one is actually pulling away from or passing the other, or just gaining on him. I doubt the elise would end up in front with equal drivers.
To make things fair, put top on Elise.... Lotus owner!!

Why doesn't Lotus paint a centerline down their track so that we can see what the car can do in the real world and not this on track bullshit.....
Show me a Lotus that can be fast and yet still stay in it's own lane..

To make this closer the Elise should have the hard top installed, since the car is slower without it due to drag.
