  • Pause at 2:40. He's got some serious acting skills...

  • Comment removed

  • He spits real bad at 1:58

  • gah. i wish andrew warlow was still playing jeckyll when this was filmed. >.<

we watched this clip in class today. we all died laughing.

  • *anthony. i'm retarded.

  • I remember my teacher playing Jekyll and Hyde in a show of it a while ago, first time ever seeing the musical and I've loved it since :D Hyde was plain scary tho O_O

  • I think hoff did a good job with this song. Good job hoff, good job :)

  • Robert Cuccioli was SO much better

  • The Lights controllers must hate having to operate on this scene XD

  • Hold 6 down to give David Hasselhoff a major itch!

  • Lipsinking much? hahahahahaha David Hasselhoff sucks.

  • seen this while in holiday in Wales and had never seen it before however Marti Pellow didnt perform it was Martin Dickenson and he was fantastic I knew about the characters but not the story so i was truely immersed in the song. I like Hoffs cheroeography in this song as its simple and effective in the show i seen it was like hyde in the mirror then eventually in this massive mirror behind jekyll it was fantastic but part of my prefers hoffs version but everyone has there own opinion

  • sooo does anyone else feel sorry for the guy who has to controle the lighting XD

  • As if Hasselhoff couldnt get anymore awesome :3

  • So..Hyde's playing air guitar.

  • just no.....

The Thespians at my school were AMAZING when they did this show. Kudos to Tom for the confrontation scene, because it rocked. 10 x more than the Hoff.

    god... the hoff... just no....

  • @TheLaurenJC I agree...I went to Lincoln Nebraska and saw the one they did it was AMAZING...

  • @TheLaurenJC You could have left it at "god... the hoff... just no...." and I would still like it.

  • in dangerous game he just seems weirds, but his rendition of jekyll and hyde in this scene is quite impressive. to do a duet by himself is so difficult. i mean, he has to change the way he sounds and his whole demeanor. sure, the blocking (stage movements that he's directed to do) and the lighting definitely add to the whole effect (all which were genius) but this scene rides on the capability of the actor to handle 2 roles back and forth. i'm not a fan of hasselhoff, but i am impressed.

  • Listened to Rob Evan's version.. I'm sorry, but David Hasselhoff's version was WAY better.. The Sneeze sound that Rob Evan did at the first transformation, and he seemed to swing his arms too much and he did the shirt ripping part a little too early.. No comparison to David Hasselhoff.

However, that's just my opinion. He was good in a way, but I like the Hoff's version alot better. Honestly, this confrontation between the many J&H's is all a matter of prefrence..

    Don't Hassel the Hoff!

  • Despite the fact that maybe the Hoff hasn't the best voice for this show, you have to admire a guy who can sing a duet by himself.

But is the shirt rip necessary? Just wondering...

  • I love Jekyll and Hyde, and Hasselhoff really isn't that bad except for his vibrato. I just can't really take him seriously in a role like this. lol

  • Loving the stagecraft here.

  • Dayumn that was good, joining a musical group really introduces you to a lot of awesome stuff.

  • This is like Charlie Sheen in the 18 century

  • I think hasselhoff is a very disappointing Jekyll/ hyde. btw what is the purpose of the portrait in the begining of the song?

  • @whalewashingcrad it is the prtrait of his father and Jekyll is talking to him at the beginning.

  • The lighting job seemed really difficult here.

  • He actually did good, he makes a good Hyde, but he's a bit too sweaty....And it looks like he's Lip Syncing.

  • Today, we were talking about Jekyll and Hyde, and our teacher said to watch David Hasselhoff's performance when he transforms. He said that this performance ruined J&H for him. To be honest, I don't think it's that bad. lol

  • A day in the life of Steve jobbs

  • @justinlovespastry XD lol

  • I do not mean to pick on David so much, but there are so many actors living in the streets of New York who could have done this role justice, but were overlooked because of another actor/singer's fame. If pop culture has taught us anything is that famous does not always equal talented.

To conclude, I strongly urge you to watch/listen to Robert Cuccioli and Rob Evan perform their own renditions of the famous Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, if you haven't already. They will blow your mind away!

  • Do not get me wrong, Jekyll & Hyde is a beyond phenomenal show. Every aspect of this show is amazing. Its story is classic, full of mind-provoking concepts. Its scenery is beautiful to the eyes. Lastly and most importantly, its music is something worth praising for years on end.

Unfortunately, not everyone can truly capture the beauty of the roles portrayed in the stage version of this story and David happens to fall under that category. It is beyond obvious that he was picked for his fame...

  • This is, quite frankly, the worst professional performance of Jekyll & Hyde.

I have a lot of sympathy for David, but he did not deserve to be Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. He has no sense for the music. He was constantly off-beat, the orchestra had to continuously keep up with his nonsense, and he was off-pitch all the time. I felt especially sorry for the man conducting this performance, he must have suffered. On the other hand, David's predecessor's, Robert Cuccioli and Rob Evan, were outstanding...

  • We had a high school senior who starred in this at the Missouri Thespian State Conference in the All State Show and he was AMAZING! =D

  • this is amazing actually how he changes!

  • The first time I watched the staged version with Hasselhoff, I remember that I thought it was ridiculous that he was starring in a Broadway show....until I saw this. He completely blew me away with this one number. I still think that out of everyone, Colleen Sexton was the shining star in that cast, but Hasselhoff held his own. Brilliant performance, even if he doesn't have the greatest voice in the world - at least he can act the part wonderfully.

  • I'm sorry. The Hoff does not need to be on Broadway. He's not talented enough.

  • I don't think it's horrible. I think his singing is worse than his acting. Throughout the whole show I just wanted him to open his mouth. His vowels are too closed, and it sounds like he's straining his voice at some parts.

  • this is the best gag gift!

  • That. Was. EPIC!

  • you don't know bad until you see a middle school do this

  • This is poor, i'm no professional but I do this song so much better.

  • OH MY GOD WHO EVER HAD THE IDEA TO CAST SUCH A HACK IN SUCH A GREAT ROLE!?!?!

  • i just saw this in a local theater the local guy did way better and was not this outta breath this is ridiculous such a great musical hes not even singing hes screaming some of his face expression was interesting other then that hoff sucks

  • @justdance898 He's supposed to be out of breath...you would be too if you were housing a battle between two personalities...

  • Way to go Hoff!!!! This was amazing!!!! This is one of the most difficult roles to play in live theatre, and you did it!!!!!

  • wow the hoff sux .. im 17 and i do this so much better

  • @respectheduff pretentious much?

  • @postmanjoesfriend Agreed

  • Why'd he rip his shirt? lol

  • Hyde will tickle you to death? Does Hasselhoff think tickling represents evil?

  • @beautifulbeesful it's Dance with Death

  • OH MY GODDDD I LOVE THIS MUSICAL!! its really super cool and awesome! this song is absolutely the best and David Hasselhoff does an AMAZING job doing this song. the only problem with this video is the sound is a little off, so it looks like he is behind, but he isnt. If you look up " Jekyll and Hyde musical part 13" the beginning song is this song and the sound matches. <3 thiss!!!

  • thank the lord he is hiting the right notes in this song...(85% at least) but he has no stage presence in this song nor is he telling the amazing story of self conflice within a man! poor fat man looses it about half way in lol

  • my school is doing Jekyll this year. Im on strings, the part for this song is totally awesome

  • this is a great song, just a bit annoying that it's out of sync

  • I think what a lot of the haters don't seem to realize is that musicals are ALWAYS hammy...that's why we love them, lol.

  • @Kailys3 Look up Robert Cuccioli singing this and say that lol

  • Pause at 0:50=Derp

  • not good... at all...

  • OMG!!! This has got to be the most addicting song I've ever heard!!! Now I just gotta see the musical!!! Is it still running?

  • Robert cuccioli blows this crap out of the water

  • I wonder how many people know real talent, and the ability to act vs. what popular-culture tells you about someone. If you had no idea who David Hasselhoff was, you'd be saying what a good actor this person was. The producers, and directors knew this - hence the casting.

  • wow!! Incredible! O.O

  • You know, I think he did an amazing job acting as both. I know few actors who can pull that off. It's amazing. <3 He has such an amazing voice as well. :3

  • it looks a bit out of sync.

  • I think it works better with two seperate actors because the point of the plot is that man is not one but two. Two completely different men. The idea is that Jekyll has released the Hyde inside him. But they should never be onstage together except in this number when they're really going at it.

  • The Duality of man's soul Good vs Evil , which side will win?

  • He pulled most of the song off pretty well actually, especially Dangerous Game... but this is DAMN LOONEY! xD

  • I hate how the scene starts out so slow. I understand it's neccessary and all to add meaning (but honestly I hate how they add in Jekyll's father at all. It changes his motives and therefore his character) BUT anyways, towards the middle of the song, I love it! The confrontation is just truly spectacular and shows the conflict between Jekyll and Hyde perfectly.

  • I love this video

  • After watching this musical over and over and reading the novel...I have to say that David should have invested more on his portrayal of Jekyll. His Hyde is great, but at times, it's way to overdone.

If they made a movie version out of this, I can see either Kevin Spacey or Adrian Brody in this role [if they have singing talent]

  • god this is awful

  • Truthfully one of the most epic songs on Broadway, along with Epiphany and Phantom! Why is it that horror musicals have such epic songs?

  • @dlausactor6373 whoever you are, i LOVE YOU!!!! i agree completely!!! *HUGS*

  • @Scar2401 Inorite? Sweeney Todd has Epiphany, Phantom has... well, Phantom, Evil Dead has Look Who's Evil Now among so many others, and J&H has Confrontation.

  • I prefer David to all the other Jekyll/Hydes. Especially his Hyde. I think he does an absolutely amazing job. I never really liked the other Hydes as much, and this is my favorite musical.

  • OH GOOD LORD this is terrible.

Also, pause at 0:51 and then tell me the Hoff is a sexy man.

  • i love jekyll and hyde..by far my favorite musical, but i don't really like david hasselhoff as jekyll/hyde...

  • Confrontation!

  • This was really cool, especially for a live play!

  • I dont give a damn what anyone says. David Hasslehoff did a good job playing this role.

  • I love this david its you at your best.......

  • Sorry! But this is just not good enough for J&H!!

  • David Hasselhoff!!!! I think he was good.

  • yea i hate david hasselhoff in this roll he butchers the crap out of it

  • this is my favorite number. its so intense i love how they arranged it and hasselhoff did an amazing job with this character (these characters ;] )

  • My high school did this musical and it was really awesome. But this guy just butchers the song.... I didnt think he was good at all and he spoke most the lines which ruins the effect of the struggle, makes him seem as if hes dropping character.

  • I hate how he talks his lines... its kind of annoying cause he has a beautiful voice

  • Love this song, love the energy, love the tempo, i could deal without the ripping off the shirt part...

  • no no no no no. my god!

seriously. wtf! please never scream and rip your shirt off ever again, i thought dangerous game was bad cuz i honestly thought he was going to rape her, but this. omfg! i was lmao all the way through it!

  • I wonder if it is even possible to contract schizophrenia through drugs. 0___0

  • 1. Yes. Definitely yes.

    2. This is my favorite number from this musical.

  • oh it is...

  • No. Taking a drug will not cause schizophrenia. In fact, one diagnostic criterion for schizophrenia is that the disturbance is not due to the effect of a substance. I'm assuming what you really mean to ask is whether or not drugs can cause psychotic symptoms...In that case, yes! There is such a thing as a substance-induced psychotic disorder. Basically, this means psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations or delusions can be a result of drug abuse, medications, or some sort of toxin exposure

  • Also, Jekyll's split personality is more similar to dissociative identity disorder (commonly referred to as "multiple personality disorder") than it is to schizophrenia. Of course, Jekyll/Hyde wouldn't technically fit this either because the split was the result of the drug.

Sorry, I know I rambled on. I'm studying psychology and as you can probably tell, I find psychopathology really fascinating!

  • I love Hasselhoff.

  • i think think this best rendition of the song i have ever seen

  • hyde always wins in a verbal battle!

"You take all your evil deeds and you ROT IN HELL!"

    "See you there Jekyll!"

    Pwn!

  • by far Hasseloff and Evans just cant compare to Cuccioli and Warlow. By far the two best Jekyll/hyde's

  • This is really good singing! I underestimated how Hasselhoff would be in this role...I've been listening to the Jekyll and Hyde Broadway CD tonight and I really like it, but I thought that Jekyll & Hyde were done by separate actors...I know it's 2ppl in 1 guy and everything, but I think it would have worked better if they'd had one actor for Jekyll and another for Hyde...I find it kind really cheesy how it's one guy screaming at himself...Shame too cuz I was really liking it :(

  • That's kind-of the point of Jekyll and Hyde, though. He NEEDS to be two people in one. If they had two separate actors, it would destroy the entire plot.

  • Mmm...yes and no. It's two different sides of the same person. If the story is believable then we are to understand that Jekyll changes physical appearance, otherwise everybody would know that it was him doing the murders, which is another tap for seperate actors...There's a few videos on here of people who have tried it with separate actors and it didn't destroy the plot at all...granted it wasn't necessarily better as I thought it would be when I put that comment, but it wasn't horrible.

  • @carlotta4th I actually saw a really good version of this song done with two actors

  • @carlotta4th It's amazing how they actually just uses his hair 2 separate them. His hair falls and he's insane, he whips his hair up and he's sane. This is my ALL TIME fav of this musical along with Dangerous Game

  • i love it...its so...WOW....

  • I just watched the Rob Evan version . . . this is one is much better in my opinion.

  • i think this is the better version but come on we know its the hoff and that he is pretty wierd but this is a good version

  • Love this, but Anthony Warlow's the ultimate.

  • For me, The trouble is deciding whether Evan, or Hasselhoff is better. David put a little more raw emotion into it, but Rob made it seem like there were actualy two people on stage.

  • the sound in this video is off from the actual vid...makes it look wierd...may just be my computer though lol

  • I think he was good, you must count that this is a VERY hard song to sing and a very hard scene to do..and he must have been tired of singing the other songs too..so he did it well..it could have been better but it wasn't bad

  • another unfortunate bearer of multiple personality disorder..

  • He's pretty good. I've heard better though.

  • This is hard role for anyone to play and I think he did pretty good (although he looks like he's gonna pass out near the end lol)

  • To quote a comment on another Hasslehoff Confrontation video.... HYDE SPIRIT FINGERS!!!

  • my friends dad thinks that it's creeper fingers

  • The Singing might be bearable if he could find something more interesting while he is singing.

  • Did you think that mabeye the reason he sounds so bad is that he is makeing himself bad. The character that he plays is twisted both in mind and body which could change his singing. This may be his way of changing the character and showing the audince the eternal conflict.

  • I consider myself a TRUE J&H fan and yes I have heard the original cast recording and have learned to love both. I know it may seem like he sucks but as an actor I can see his intention of creating a conflict vocally as well as phisically. please let me belive what I belive it is just a matter of an opinion and I think you should respect mine just as I can respect yours.

  • Hey, I am a "true" J&H fan, and believe me, he doesn't suck. And considering how difficult it is to perform this role live, 6 days a week, for a few months on Broadway, he is quite good. Just my opinion.

  • @HydeCorner yeah, he's doing an amazing job....fascinating, actually, since i know d. h. entirely different....i can't wait to see how the hyde and jekyll in the production i'm rehersing right now is gonna handle it

  • shit

  • sadly sebastian is better

  • Even more ridiculous than you'd imagine.

  • Fair play to the man he does it so originally its incredible:)

  • i couldn't do that if i tried. i don't have 10 times the amount of breath in me.

  • Even though his voice transitions are not always as obvious, some of the character trasistions are just amazing.

  • People flame him all the time but he makes some really great and interesting choices with the character. Sometimes more interesting then Evan's, Cuccoli and even Warlow

  • Yeah, especially his choice at 2:29. That choice RULZ!

  • Also at 2:56
