@grimmyabreak I've seen them both in concert and there's no comparison sorry. If the Cure's avante garde style leaves you cold then you may be suffering from a deficiency of artistic depth, talented or not the Cranberries broke zero new ground. If I'm mistaken perhaps you'll leave a link to one of their masterpieces?
Everyone is entitled to their own mediocre taste in music, in fact I'd say the majority of pop fans are thus afflicted. Sorry about that.
I so love this song!! It is so deep and haunting. Takes me to a different place and time. This song just gets deep into your soul!! I love Robert's mesmerizing voice in this song. So hauntingly gorgeous!! I have loved The Cure for 27 years now and they have never ceased to amaze me with the beauty of their songs and melodies! What a truly phenomenal band!! And Robert is just gorgeous!! He is a true poetic genuis indeed!! And so amazing in every aspect!! ILY Robert!! ♥ The Cure forever!! :))
Such a wonderful song with such a nice melody that just blends so well with Robert's unique voice. very calming and soothing. The Cure is a band that has truly stood the test of time. Such an amazing and awesome band!! Rock on forever Cure!!
@greyagain Lots of great tracks on Kiss me...the kiss, snakepit, like cockatoos, if only tonight we could sleep to nake a few. disintegration was also immense but seventeen seconds, pornography and faith are my faves. Can hardly stand their new stuff which is a shame
I have been to 14 concerts - but the first time they played FOREVER was in Radio City Music Hall last year.. damn it was very intense and what a way to close a show!
The Cranberries and the Cure together in one comment? The world is surely coming to an end. The Cranberries were a hiccup, the Cure is an orgasm that never ends.

This song is astronomical in its ability to haunt me. I wish I could live in this song, and keep it going and going and going.

"Forever" is probably one of the best song ever written.
TheAtheistSwede 2 years ago 3
kind of a wierd statement since 'Forever' does not have a definite form and is mostly improvisation.

wow this is the only live version of Seventeen Seconds in the time it was 'new' (1980) I've found.
I really like it! The Cure are gods!

The Cranberries are music for office workers. The Cure go way beyond this.

Cranberries can not be placed in the same level as THE CURE. The Cure are at a level on their own.
