@pastchrono plus in the book, he WAS 26, plushe looks older than the cast yet not "Cut! Peter needs a diaper change!" old. Its just that a 22 yr olds playin a 17yr old. Thats nt his fault, Im glad they picked Peter, hes hot, funny, nice and downtoearth (all of them are!)

Well I think what they tried to do was get people who haven't read the books interested in it so they thought that the people who haven't read the books would see Carlisle as nothing more than a kid. Hollywood does that with a lot of movies but if Hollywood checked those movies once in a while they would see that straying too far from the book doesn't usually turn out as well. Plus Peter Facinelli is perfect for Carlisle and matches the movie star description they made for him in the book.

The age Edward gives int he book should be from his birth as he says he was born before Cromwells(sp?) reign. But yea Carlisle was turned at 23, and Esme at 26 (Ten years after she fell in love with Carlisle when she first met him) so I can see why they would need someone to look a little more mature.. seeing as Rob, Ashley, and the rest of the crew are almost 23 themselves..
