I think its really easy to explain, why the ending ist that bad.

Nobody of the developers thaought, that any human could make it through the levels. So they thought "why shuld we work for nothing?"

actually when landing on an aircraft carrier, what is supposed to be doen is right after the aircraft touches down they are supposed to go fullthrottle just in case they missed 1 of the langing cables

@bloodguzzler They have to punch the afterburners because if they don't land and hit the connecting line, they have to take off at full-speed else they crash in the ocean :(
