Was yours really painful at first? ugh mine hurt so bad even when I got it and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. Why do you get pierced with a bigger barbell ? Alot of people say it just gets in the way and hurts ? Is it for swellling reasons ? and if so how long until you can switch it with another bar ? until swelling ahs gone down ? PLEASE AND THANKS !:)<3!
@marysamichannel yes because your tongue swells. and as in the video, i said, your piercer will change to a shorter barbell in 2 weeks after the swelling has gone down :)
My sister got hers done on Valentines day and I got my industrial done (thank you for scaring the crap out of me by the way). She ate dairy, she changed it in the first three days, she smokes (as do I, but I am stopping) and she just swallowed her top ball because she didn't screw it on tight enough. Aka, she is stupid >_> I am getting mine done soon (reason why I am stopping smoking) and after watching all these and your vids, I am doing everything opposite her. Thank you for informing me lol.

@nikka146 my ears get super agitated too, but i never had a problem with my tongue ring. make sure your professional piercer tells you what type of metal they use (or ASK!)... should be high grade titanium or surgical steel :)

@SkinnyJeanSuperSwagg most piercers won't start you off with any acrylic tongue rings because they can harbor really bad bacteria. in some rare cases they may start you off with the acrylic half ball but that definitely puts you at higher risk for infection. i would get pierced with the regular metal barbell, and then change it after one month once it's healed to the half ball
@HisBabyGirl161 i know i'm allergic to nickel, but ask your piercer what metals they use. it should be very high grade titanium or surgical steel -- those are the only acceptable types of metal for piercings. or when youre out at a store trying to buy new jewelry make sure theyre nickel free and made of high grade metals. (i would also stay away from gold as it can irritate as well on some people)

@PaulieArr i ate regularly the whole time, simply because i could fight through the pain! i had KFC and cookout food and all sorts of stuff. but many people find that it hurts to eat which is why i reccomend soups and whatnot. Still gotta avoid a lot of dairy for the first week but you can eat it-- just mouthwash after you do. Once it's healed in about 4-6 weeks you can eat whatever youd like!
around 4 mins and 45 seconds she says dont worry about swelling. WORRY ABOUT SWELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant even eat ice cream its so bad. also my sister got hers done a long time ago and ended up in the ER because her tongue was swelling up all the way down her throat. im sure a lot of people tongues are fine, but sometimes they arent. just a heads up.
@xXArtsyDisasterXx they say you shouldnt smoke at all during healing time (4-6 weeks). some people do, but they mouthwash right after with non alcoholic mouthwash. so if you're going to be smoking id recomend bringing along a little travel thing of mouthwash so as soon as youre done smoking you can rinse out your mouth

I got mine about 5 months back.. it took 2 weeks till I could finally eat a good meal.. my tounge was sooo swollen and painful even after taking ibuprofen.. i couldnt eat and when I talked it sounded like i had a lisp.. but now its awesome!! Hha

@cookielover320 tongue piercings have a bad stigma to them "sluts/whores" get them. but i can honestly say, it hasnt affect my teeth or taste buds at all. have them do research, show them my video. i dont think im a whore haha, i just like piercings! plus no one can see it unless i stick my tongue out! more people will see your belly button ring!

@piinkk78 day 2 and 3 were the worst because i got mine over memorial day weekend so i had LOTS of cookouts to go to and i ate the worst foods you can eat with a fresh tongue piercing haha... but it got much better after day 4 :)
I'm confused about the changing of the bar; did you say wait a month before changing the parlor's bar? Do I have to wait a month to change it to a shorter bar or just wait a month before changing to acrylic??
@GeminiBlueMa after 2 weeks, go back to your piercer and they will downsize the bar for you (you get pierced with a longer barbell to leave room for swelling). you will still keep the metal balls on. after 4-6 weeks, you can change it to the colored balls, or any bar you want. but the main point is to wait at least one month before changing to colored acrylic balls, as they soak up bacteria and cause infection.
@hellomynameisjayden not if you go to a credible piercer and clean it as you're supposed to. most of those "gone wrong" videos are people who pierced it themselves or went to their dad's friend in a basement.

@mooninmyroom hmm... you will have to stick it out far but you can do it with closed lips. if you have a bad gag reflex though, a tongue ring might "initiate" it more since there is always something on your tongue...

@babiigirl6754 pain killers arent anti-inflammatory so they wont reduce swelling, theyll just make you numb and loopy lol, you dont need those for a simple tongue piercing!

@LadiiRiece can't drink for 2 weeks unless youre willing to clean your mouth out after every single drink. liquor will burn and irritate and beer can cause a yeast infection

I still have a retainer that I have to wear everynight. Would that in anyway get in the way of the piercing? Is there a chance that it'll get caught while I'm sleeping? Should I wait for this piercing and talk to my orthodontist about changing the size of the retainer?
@xxrockinemomuffinsxx nope, i wear my top and bottom retainers every night as well. my top one is a clear plastic one thats like a mouthgaurd or invisalign so it actually helps protect my teeth while im sleeping so i cant clank my teeth. and the bottom one has that part on the back of my teeth so the tongue ring wont rub away my gums. i found my retainers helped actually :)

@Cookytasha321 youre not supposed to drink for at least a month... especially beer because it can cause a yeast infection. liquor will irritate it. she should wait til after the new year to get it

@crazysexyzany for the most part they will choose for you, based on your veins and anatomy. but you can suggest that youd like it further back or closer forward and they can either tell you "yes we can do that" or "no sorry"... :)
@stacey1264 you can if it's sugarfree... but i would wait 2 weeks until you get your barbell downsized, otherwise you might bite on the bar on accident since youre not used to it yet.

@PaulieArr i ate regularly the whole time, simply because i could fight through the pain! i had KFC and cookout food and all sorts of stuff. but many people find that it hurts to eat which is why i reccomend soups and whatnot. Still gotta avoid a lot of dairy for the first week but you can eat it-- just mouthwash after you do. Once it's healed in about 4-6 weeks you can eat whatever youd like!

around 4 mins and 45 seconds she says dont worry about swelling. WORRY ABOUT SWELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant even eat ice cream its so bad. also my sister got hers done a long time ago and ended up in the ER because her tongue was swelling up all the way down her throat. im sure a lot of people tongues are fine, but sometimes they arent. just a heads up.

@xXArtsyDisasterXx they say you shouldnt smoke at all during healing time (4-6 weeks). some people do, but they mouthwash right after with non alcoholic mouthwash. so if you're going to be smoking id recomend bringing along a little travel thing of mouthwash so as soon as youre done smoking you can rinse out your mouth

I got mine about 5 months back.. it took 2 weeks till I could finally eat a good meal.. my tounge was sooo swollen and painful even after taking ibuprofen.. i couldnt eat and when I talked it sounded like i had a lisp.. but now its awesome!! Hha

@piinkk78 day 2 and 3 were the worst because i got mine over memorial day weekend so i had LOTS of cookouts to go to and i ate the worst foods you can eat with a fresh tongue piercing haha... but it got much better after day 4 :)

I'm confused about the changing of the bar; did you say wait a month before changing the parlor's bar? Do I have to wait a month to change it to a shorter bar or just wait a month before changing to acrylic??

@GeminiBlueMa after 2 weeks, go back to your piercer and they will downsize the bar for you (you get pierced with a longer barbell to leave room for swelling). you will still keep the metal balls on. after 4-6 weeks, you can change it to the colored balls, or any bar you want. but the main point is to wait at least one month before changing to colored acrylic balls, as they soak up bacteria and cause infection.

Hai, thank you SO MUCH for the vid. really helped alot. i love piercings and i would love to get this one. but here's the thing, my gag reflex. i really can't stick the tongue out :( and i heard you need to stick it out very much when u get it pierced. so that's me problem. i wish i could stick out only half of tongue throught my closed lips, if u get me :( any advices for that?:(

@mooninmyroom hmm... you will have to stick it out far but you can do it with closed lips. if you have a bad gag reflex though, a tongue ring might "initiate" it more since there is always something on your tongue...

I still have a retainer that I have to wear everynight. Would that in anyway get in the way of the piercing? Is there a chance that it'll get caught while I'm sleeping? Should I wait for this piercing and talk to my orthodontist about changing the size of the retainer?

@xxrockinemomuffinsxx nope, i wear my top and bottom retainers every night as well. my top one is a clear plastic one thats like a mouthgaurd or invisalign so it actually helps protect my teeth while im sleeping so i cant clank my teeth. and the bottom one has that part on the back of my teeth so the tongue ring wont rub away my gums. i found my retainers helped actually :)

@crazysexyzany for the most part they will choose for you, based on your veins and anatomy. but you can suggest that youd like it further back or closer forward and they can either tell you "yes we can do that" or "no sorry"... :)
