If you havent checked it out i would recommend Heroic Age, its for a younger Audience so it's a little more (ok a lt more) wholesome. All 25 (ish) episodes are on Netflix.

Erin I do have a question i wish to be answered. What did you think of the ending of the anime? I'll try not to give spoilers but i found it to me the most disappointing ending of all time. To be honest this was one of the best animes i had ever seen until the end ruined the whole thing. It seemed to end too fast and had the potential to go on and really be an amazing anime. The manga continues on as well. I'm confused on why they didn't go on with it. I guess its the hiatus of the manga. : (

Subscribed to hopefully find some new series to watch! Going to check High School of the Dead out on netflix. I saw it amoung the series but never thought it would be any good.

Also, @HappiLeeErin Code Geass season one is ok, second season falls off into over-the-top wut. I would highly recommend "Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom" which can be watched on netflix.

I'm a straight man, and I have to say, the fan service ruined it for me.

When the notice about an zombie anime came out, I was really exited, but as I said, the fan service just wasn't right. It could be good is small dosis, but they exaggerated it and was a distraction for a good series. I ended hating it, even if it had a great characters and development.

Very much agreed. I absolutely adore the screenwriting of Bleach, but it is often tainted with the supposed "allure" of the over-the-top maturity of the female characters' bodies. Just for a personal experiment, I tried watching an episode of Highschool of the Dead after every two episodes of The Walking Dead, and it turns out that if you follow that pattern, it flows at almost the exact same pace!!! XD

You should TOTALLY do a review of Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler). It is my favourite anime of all time (and considering that it has to compete with Death Note, that's saying something). If you haven't checked it out, you totally should. It's a bit like Soul Eater considering that it butterflies, but once you get more into it is TOTALLY awesome.:D

Highschool of the dead was so so promising the first two episodes, it was like being able to watch the walking dead and switch over to an anime form of it, then all of a sudden it took a turn for.... eh... the worst

I completely agree. At first I thought High School of the Dead was just something to get my erection out of the way and watched it because my penis told me to but I got really into the story and the characters. I feel it could have been much more popular if the perversion wasn't there because I would have recommended it to people I know but because it would reveal the true nature of my pervertedness I keep it to myself. It had a great story and characters, but the constant erection caused issues

@JunkyVirus One Piece is personally my favorite currently airing show but it is 529 episodes in so catching up will take a while and if you can watch to about episode 44 you can get a good feel for how the show will be, specifically the Arlong season is a good representation of the show which ends about episode 44 starts late 20s. I dont know much about horror but you can go to animefreak . tv and search by genre and search horror. watchop . com for One Piece. I gave up on bleach after about 310

Having seen several select episodes, but never a complete season, I would absolutely LOVE a review of Hikaru no Go! :)

Granted, I have been told the the anime cuts out the final two arcs of the manga, so I'm alright with a somewhat incomplete review (since the anime doesn't complete the full story the author wanted to tell). So that is one suggestion. I can message you with others, as there are many rare, yet suprisingly FANTASTIC animes out there. :) Underground anime, anyone?

I also think the fan-service is a bit excessive at times as well. Heck, just look at the scene where Takashi grabs the rifle after Rei falls off the truck..

However, I do see an artistic reason behind it. Society is falling apart and the survivors are having to rely on their animal instincts to survive, and humans are reduced to sacks of 'meat'. We've seen the connection between undeath and sex in vampire stories, so this plays off that.

Not sure if the creators had that in mind though...

Well, one of the brothers who wrote the script to High School does writes hentai for a living as well as inserting large quantities of fan service in to other manga series's like Fire Fire Fire and Triage X so its not really a surprise that there is an obscene quantity of fan service. However, whilst running in the sort of action with over the top fan service vein you could perhaps look in to Freezing. Love the show by the way ^,^

Fan service is a pretty common term in anime/manga.

It basically means that you're serviced with some bewbs or ass, for the sake of the fans.

The general effect it has is to sort of "reward" the fans for liking their series, so they give them something to fap to.

I totally was laughing at the "fan service", it was just so out of place. I was surprised you didn't highlight the episode where it reaches levels of silly so high I was surprised the show didn't suddenly end up in plaid speed with the Spaceballs waving "Hi!" as they went by. You know the scene, where a bullet travels in slow motion past the boobs, the ridiculous boobs, the recoil bouncing another pair to the sound of girlish squeals. I wonder if they were parodying The Matrix...
