I was just starting with this song... and I didn't want to sing it just like her... thank you for the critique... I agree that it should have been in a different key, that some of the notes are too low and I was not as confident in my voice. But I am now :) and one day... I will record it again so I can see how I have progressed...so thank you again.
Not a good song to cover unless you really take it in a different direction from the original. The vocal inflections on the original are critical for the phrasing.
If you can copy the inflections then you sound like a Dolores clone and if you can't do them then don't attempt the song unless you got somewhere really amazing to go with it. It's also a bad key for your voice, you're barely scraping it in the verse. Go up a key and belt it out loud.
