Usually, the smoke is a mixture of CO2 and vaporised mineral oil.

Highly heated oil particles come in contact with the colder, outside air and condense into smoke-like particles. The carbon dioxide just acts as a propellant for the oil particles.

Any gas can be used as a propellant, as long as it's not flammable and has a similar weight to the one of regular air.

this car is so overpriced for its performance the old 4.2 r8 did a lap around laguna seca in i.08 and this did it in 1.74 and thats the old r8 the new 5.2 would rip this thing apart and the interiors are both high class the Mercedes in my books is overpriced as hell. And plus the R8 looks way sexier.

@youngswagga298 it lets them know if the car will generate lift and more importantly sufficient amount of downforce at higher speeds. Also it will test the efficiency of the shape so the shape isn't making the car waste extra fuel because it's aerodynamically inefficient.

@ebradahusla It's not the air conditioning your thinking of, its more "wind" conditioning, yes it's kind of a wind tunnel, but but with visible, instead of invisible results, and the wheels are spinning, because the car is being told to accelerate... how that effects the experiment, is no true way...

Did I forget to mention we have NO GENERAL SPEED LIMIT. I personally went 295 km/h legally on public roads. Off course not everywhere , but there are some nice spots...

And its the ONLY place in the world u can do this. Best thing is: buy that machine, and pick it up at the factory.
