How does your leash system work here? Hold harness side when pulling and all going well, use prong collar side if need to stop suddenly or he veers off course? I'm researching a good system for inline skating with dogs.
@kcdogrunners Hello =) Yes, I hold the leash taught on the harness side so he can pull. The prong is for extra safety. It's better to teach your dog a stop command really, which I also tell him "Whoa" when I want to slow down and he's seemed to get the hang of it. But it takes a while to get a good stop/slow command down, especially when the dog is so hyped to go running. So I just keep the prong in case and because I'm not good at stopping on blades, myself. lol (cont)
@kcdogrunners Once, he was SO crazy hyped in full run, even the prong wouldn't stop him and I had to grab his collar and pull up to slow him down. Not ideal, no, but I'd rather not nearly die. lol So like I said, it's best to teach a stop command and to learn to slow down/stop well on blades but I just jumped into it all and the prong makes me feel safer if I ever have to stop him in an emergency, which there have been a few close calls and the backup prong saved us both.
That's a great way to drain your dogs energy. Wish i could roller blade with my pooches, but i can barely roller skate. I make a lot of face plants in the cement and asphalt while I skate. :-)
Look my vidéo rollerblading with my dog too!!!A great vidéo!!5/5
