  • If ANYONE could actually read the bible, see all the things that were said to have happened, then notice NONE of those things happen NOW, they would reconsider believing in a mythology that clearly contradicts itself. God, who is unchanging, changes between the Old and New Testaments.

  • In the OLD Testament (according to the bible), man had actual contact with God through a priest, as he would offer a sacrifice to God by going beyond the vale. Then suddenly, here comes the 'Jesus' story, and then...the vale comes down, reveling that God has left the building.

  • Coincidence? Or was there a possibility that the people began to question the actual existence of a God, got tired of giving all they had worked hard for to the priests and rabbis, and was preparing to go behind the vale to see God themselves?

  • Prime example Protocols of Zion Jews have always and still hate Christ because he exposed their true god of material and hatred for mankind AKA Satanas.

They have pirated Christians beliefs to conform to Judaism now they will take even the Idea of Heaven and God from you reducing you to soulless animals as they have always seen the Goyim to enjoy servitude to the upcoming Israeli empire that awaits unveiling on all the Nations as Soon As they find their 1st coming of the New King of Israel

  • Bill Maher is confident it is all made up that would be the canon gospels, but the gospels that were banned by the jews/romans who then replaced them to force conformity on the Goyim tells a different story all together, after reviewing in the

  • whoa i just realized what Bill was talking about Hitler was the 2nd coming to the Yehudim he was not only exposing the plans and workings of world domination they infest everything Christ called them the UNSHAKABLE RACE. The trinity was the Pagan Romans addition just as the new cornerstone of Christianity is the Death which happens to be the age old Jews reason that he was not GOD, Jews won the battle of the Bible thats why it is 90% Judaism

  • Superstitious ppl aren't as asinine as they appear--they're just hypocrites. If their child was seriously injured in an accident, they would turn first to atheist-driven science: grab a cell phone, call 911, get an ambulance, have their child rushed to a modern hospital--and THEN they would pray or meditate to their magically invisible sky-daddy, earth-mommy, force field, or grab their lucky rabbit's foot. Not dumbasses, just annoying hypocrites.

  • Haha, this is hilarious.

  • Bill stumps Jesus. Bill for the win.

  • I'm a believer in Christ and I enjoyed Maher's film. The whole "Why didn't God stop the Holocaust?" argument can be summed up in free will. If I walked up to you and punched you in the face, why didn't God stop me? Hitler had free will. Nazi soldiers had free will. Why didn't God stop the persecution of Christians in 1st century? Weren't they his people since they believed in Jesus? Free will. We are free to believe or not to believe. He gave us that ability.

  • @HowFarAreWeNow Free will is pointless if God's just going to punish you for doing something he disagrees with. He's essentially saying, "I'm giving you the gift of free will. You may choose whatever you want in life... but if you don't choose what I want, I'm going to torture you for eternity."

  • @qRaynep I don't think it's pointless at all. The the opposite of free will is to make people into robots. If free will should = no standards, that's what makes no sense.

  • @HowFarAreWeNow So why not go with the middle ground? Why not make it to where no-one has the desire to commit evil acts? Don't present the false dichotomy that we can only have completely limitless free will, or be robots with no will whatsoever.

  • @qRaynep I don't see how it is false. You have to take into context what this film is talking about also which is the revelation of God in the Bible. The Bible describes God as a Holy God. What you are describing is a God that made man with free will and left no consequence for wrong action. There would be no point to give free will if their wasn't a choice to be made. If there is a choice to be made, there must be a right and wrong choice. If not, there would be no point to free will.

  • Personally, however, I believe Jesus was a man who lived and died. He preached about treating each other right, preached about things we can all agree on. And then he died, whether for our souls or not, he believed he was dying for us. He could've spoken up and not died. So that's pretty balls-y to die merely to get the point across: TREAT PEOPLE RIGHT. He condemned the churches and church goers. Hell, Bill Maher would probably be getting mad at the same people Jesus would!

  • And if not, if I was God, I would need more than one Jesus to preach about treating people right. In fact, I would probably make them have similar stories so that years later, people looking back would see the similarities and realize what's going on. I highly doubt that Jews would read Indian "bibles" and copy those word for word because Hebrew Priests were scholars. And Egyptian theology, they would never have been able to pull that type of plageurism off. THey were practically neighbors!

  • My first belief about the HUNDREDS of similar Jesus stories was that maybe that was why there was a Old Testament to begin with. The old testament has hundreds of prophecies, which could've acted as prompts or fiction-outlines for Egyptians and Hindus and what not.

  • As for the Old Testament. Well, as I geuss you could say I'm not Christian, I take the Old Testament as one would take Little Red Riding Hood. When I was trying to believe in the exact Christianity as defined by my church, I DESPISED the old testament because it introduces and entirely different God than described by Jesus.

  • The "No other Gods before me" has different meanings. I was taught in Sunday School that it was talking about Money or Drugs. You know, addiction in a way treats something like a God. And Jesus wanted people to care more about people rather than money. Thus why the second most important commandment is "like it". (Treat your neighbor as yourself.)

  • Why didn't God stop the hollocaust? If he did we would ask why he didn't stop 9-11? Then we'd ask about Katrina? Then take out terrorism and natural disasters altogether and we'd be asking God why he didn't stop me from stubbing my toe! Then why we got a mosquito bite. Then why we can't remember that movie's name. You see where I'm going with this? After a while, it'd defeat the purpose of living and Free Will isn't that stupid of an argument after all.

  • First off, I don't believe in this but let me correct this idiot Jesus's mistakes.

Why doesn't God kill the devil is the same as asking why doesn't God kill the bully you had in the second grade. Free Will. Sure, that bully was pretty bad in the second grade, but maybe by the fifth grade he'll be feeding the homeless. Everyone deserves an equal chance to redeem one's self and Lucifer gets as much an opportunity as you or me.

  • Wait, a day is like 1000 years in god's eyes? So it took 6000 years for him to create the Earth and rested for 1000 more? Not a very efficient god.

  • wow.

  • MWAHAHAHAHA OH no Jesus Christ Jesus is here

  • well if Bill Mayor is wrong he burns, but if the christians are wrong then nothing happens ahhahaha which one is more risky!!!!

  • @KJFilmProductions If the Muslims or another religion is right then the Christian burns....You have a risk as well...

  • What is really sick is how nasty so-called JEWS pretend to be God's chosen people. roflmao! These sick bastards are the DEVILS chosen people yet they pretend to be God's chosen people. The lake of fire is awaiting these Jew Anti-Christs.

  • @parasitesarefunny lol you are truly an idiot xD

  • @parasitesarefunny I hope people like you go to the 'lake of fire' instead

  • i wonder how many catholics listen to bill and was like oh no hes wrong jesus is supreme

  • Bill Maher's whole thing is filling up the hole in his heart with money and calling himself God. It's all been done before but thankfully for him his audience hasn't a clue. I keep thinking of Benito Mussolini in a haughty pose and then a snapshot of him and his mistress hanging by their heels in a gas station with a big crowd of his former worshippers standing around to see the spectacle. And nobody even collected the price of admission.

  • Maher simply echoes the argument from Zeitgeist about the account of Jesus being the same as others from the Pagan religions. But that's already been soundly refuted. The fact is that the stories of the Pagan religions truly don't include all of those accounts. The producers of Zeitgeist fallaciously attributed the details of Jesus to the Pagan religions

  • The argument is that the Biblical accounts are simply yet another version of Paganism. If so, then Judaism & Christianity, during their combined thousands of years in existence, wouldn't have been completely at odds with Paganism as they have always been & continue to be

In fact, the rivalry & opposition between Judeo-Christianity & Paganism is precisely the reason for the attempt to invalidate the Biblical accounts by making the claims put forth within Zeitgeist

  • @Chuichupachichi Of course Christianity and Judaism would have been at odds with Paganism. It's the same story, the same cast, only the names have been changed. That's a real threat to their claim of religious purity and originality.

In other words, Horus and Osiris are trying to work their side of the street.

  • God gave man dominion , that is why the holicost , God said let us make man in our image , let them have dominion, God only interferes when people ask him....if he stopped man he would violate his word,, and he will not violate his word

  • Flaw in the steam-ice-water analogy: In the Bible, Jesus, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit all exist at the same time. In the real world, water can't be all its three forms at the same time

  • @crankspider101. I wasn't trying to be extreme in my views. Its just that Jesus is mostly depicted as a white guy when actually historians don't believe he looked like that at all.

  • I'm a fan of Bill Maher, but I think Jesus knew his shit more than Bill Maher.

  • An interesting thing is the Actor playing Jesus went through with being interviwed by Bill, you can tell the park manager/Boss she didn't like Bill being there BUT (JESUS) actually went through with the interview. Gt to give him credit..

  • i like that no one ever actually cites sources on the jesus comparison to other gods. if they did, they'd realize that they have about as much historical legitimacy as ancient aliens. i honestly don't care what anyone believes. but i think everyone would appreciate if they didn't make things up in order to disprove something they believe is made up. it's kind of self-defeating.

  • @jaxjagsman Look up "Jesus Christ in comparative mythology" on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia cites references. I agree that it would have been nice if they were included in the video.

Bill Maher wasn't saying that Horus and the other gods were real. He was saying that elements of the same story had be used before. Yes, they're just as silly as ancient aliens, So are Jesus, Santa Claus, and Scientology.

  • @cowgodgames -- ah wikipedia. EXCELLENT scholarly resource. if you reread my comment you'll notice i'm well aware of the alleged sources. and they're bullshit. how about YOU give me some sources rather than referring me to the infinite wisdom of ... wikipedia.

  • @jaxjagsman I haven't read any of this crap. I don't need to. I already know that Jesus is bullshit because I've heard religious people talk. That other people told similar stories first is just icing on the cake.

Wikipedia has plenty of sources listed, and no one is going to read any of them. If I had sources, you wouldn't read them either. So why should I waste time looking up different sources?

You should reject Jesus because it's obviously a scam to get your money.

  • This is what I would have asked Theme Park Jesus: Jesus is always portrayed as a white man. When was the last time you saw a white man from the middle east?

  • @NikkiLeeSimmons Have you ever been to the middle east?!?! I agree with the whole Jesus didn't exist thing. But I'm from the middle east and I have "white" features. I don't even know why I called you out on that. I'm just sick of people being so extreme in their views.

  • @NikkiLeeSimmons Ever heard of Jews? Because they're white and from Jerusalem where Jesus was from....

  • @NikkiLeeSimmons Italians settled in palestine long before jesus

  • John 7:1

  • @euro944t I looked that up out of curiosity. What does that have to do with anything?

"And after this Yeshua was walking in Galil, for He did not wish to walk in Yehuḏah, because the Yehuḏim were seeking to kill Him." That's what it says. What does that have to do with this video?

  • @cowgodgames

Maher is Zionist Jew, mother is 100% Jewish.

His passion is like Sarah Silvermans, attack Jesus and his followers, gatekeeper for 9/11 NeoCon perps

Maher is disinfo shill for THE TRIBE who owns HBO

  • @euro944t The Jews control HBO, huh? That's fine. The Christians control plenty of news stations and the entire federal government (with the exception of one Christian-like Unitarian in Congress).

I don't believe for a minute that a Jewish tribe controls HBO. Because Christians are something like 80% of the population, they control everything in the U.S. It would take all the Jewish people in the country to control a television station the size of HBO.

  • Very classy, Bill. Argue with true apologists.

  • @wattsnick30 And even their own. haha

  • blasphemy. Bill will burn for this.

  • was it just me or did that Jesus kick the crap out of Bill?

  • @shushubeshu it was just you

  • @shushubeshu ... it was you

  • @shushubeshu

it was just you. He had one good analogy the water thing but in the end it still is fucked up. So god sent his son who is himself to go down and be sacrificed to himself to forgive something that he made himself.

  • @PizzaBlade17God sent his son (manifested in the human form) so that he could tell us the word of God. He suffered and died to show us that he understands, and experiences human suffering with us. I know this isnt the best venue to discuss this but I want you to understand that part of the reason you dont belive is because you've been programed to fear it. You may think you understand religion and christ butyou only understand things about him that will help you continue to not believe.

  • @shushubeshu

lol no. He didn't die to show us he understands our sufferings, this is what happened.

All powerful God made Adam and Ribwoman (EVE) and Ribwoman was convinced by a talking snake to eat a magical fruit, God became mad and banished them from that. And becuz of Ribwoman every child was born with SIN. so Christ had to come and die becuz that's the only way sin is forgiven, through blood (HEB 9:22) so to be forgiven we eat Christ "body" and drink his "blood"

    That's an idiotic story.

  • @shushubeshu It's so funny and ironic that you claim he doesn't know religion when clearly you don't. And from a statistical standpoint, Atheists know the most about world religions and Christianity specifically. On a national survey, Atheists scored 93%. The very top of the list. We atheists know more about religion, which is why we're atheists.

  • "It's like trying to explain to an ant how a TV works"

sounds like trying to explain evolution to creationists...

  • Bill your my GOD! Hope that's ok to say without been Religulous?....:)

  • maybe Bill has done this and if he has then i take this back. if you wanna prove religion wrong then go talk about with a priest or a minister, someone whos dedicated their life to christianity, not a dude who plays the role of Jesus at an amusement park. shockingly it doesnt take a lot of skill to outfox a guy dressed up as someone else when you've already prepared questions that the other guy isnt ready for. and way to answer the last question btw

  • @wcrooks95 he has talked to priests in fact several in just this movie alone...and you are right they make infinitely more sense then this random guy and some even agree with Bill in some aspects

  • @SquaidsIHave i havnt actually seen the movie just some clips on youtube but yeah thats why i had that prestatement before i started blowing steam

  • GREAT interview! Bill Maher is so lame. I feel sorry for him because he will only meet Jesus long enough to hear "Depart from me, you worker of iniquity. I never knew you." UNLESS....he repents from his ways (sins) and accepts Jesus as his Savior. Even Bill Maher can be saved. Jesus is Lord and "one day, EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue shall confess that jesus is Lord to the gory of God the Father." Get right or get left.

  • isn't ironic that the majority of atheist know more about region than you called religious people!!

  • @dirtymonkey55 "how do you make an Atheist? you give a person a bible"

  • @dirtymonkey55 by the way, sorry about the grammar, must off been drunk lol

  • @dirtymonkey55 That's why we're atheists. Because we actually read the bible and know the facts. It's a ridiculous story.

  • @dirtymonkey55 I grantee you that if more people actually read the bible, then there would be a lot more atheists in the world.

  • @dirtymonkey55 thats mostly because us atheists have studied religions to recognize they are false instead of blindly following another persons bullshit we look at facts

  • @dirtymonkey55 Correction... atheists think they know. For example, they are still throwing around the OT. If they knew more, then they should know when Christ died, the old testament laws went out the window.

  • @superfreshbiltz another Christians argument about the old testament, yes we all know the new testament is about the good man Jesus, but, wasnt the old testament still written by the voice of god through the hand of man? yes, so why would god want you to forget his first book, you wouldnt ignore harry potters first book would ya! :P

  • @dirtymonkey55 Never said forget about the OT. The laws of the OT are superceded by the laws of the NT, when Jesus died. You can't forget about the OT completely.

  • @superfreshbiltz But "Jesus" wasnt real!

  • @dirtymonkey55 Yet, records confirm he was real. There are even Athiests that agree that he was real, just not a savior or a god. It's funny how we can believe writings about Julius Caesar, but not writings about Jesus from a 2000+ year old book, that was being written pre-AD.

  • @superfreshbiltz I am an atheist, and I don't agree that a Jesus Christ aka Son of God was real. A fleshly down-to-earth man named Jesus Christ may have surely existed, however. But that wouldn't prove anything. So bringing that up is pointless.

As for Caesar and any other person in recorded history - these documents are trustworthy. Documents that provide hearsay and translations of hearsay recorded decades after the persons death are not.

  • @pythor2 Have you heard of Thallus or Julius Africanus? There are writers outside the Bible, albeit quite few and their works are quite hard to find, that wrote about Jesus.

  • @superfreshbiltz Okay. And Caesar may have wrote about his Gods. What don't you get by it doesn't mean anything?

  • @pythor2 Those are actual real people that wrote about Jesus' being real.

  • @pythor2 Lucian of Samosata (115-200 A.D.) who didn't even like Christians or Christ wrote:

"The Christians, you know, worship a man to this day—the distinguished personage who introduced their novel rites, and was crucified on that account....You see, these misguided creatures start with the general conviction that they are immortal for all time, which explains the contempt of death and voluntary self-devotion which are so common among them...

  • @pythor2 (Con't from last post)

and then it was impressed on them by their original lawgiver that they are all brothers, from the moment that they are converted, and deny the gods of Greece, and worship the crucified sage, and live after his laws. All this they take quite on faith, with the result that they despise all worldly goods alike, regarding them merely as common property." (Lucian, The Death of Peregrine. 11-13)

  • @pythor2 Anyways, I can't convince you and it's not in my place to, so I'll be taking my leave.

  • @superfreshbiltz I understand the point you are getting at. There is a chance that it can still be true. That this hearsay is actually good evidence for the Jesus' divine existence. There is no reason to currently believe this, however, and accepting it follows the same routine as accepting a conspiracy theory.

The reason we can believe Caesar held a great conquest is because we know that is more possible than multiplying loaves and fish or walking on water. History repeats.

  • @pythor2

    {That this hearsay is actually good evidence for Jesus' divine existence. There is no reason to currently believe this}

Considering the fact that you've used words such as "hearsay" & "evidence", regarding Jesus' divine existence, is the reason why you can pit your arguments against the arguments from Simon Greenleaf... if you wish to do as only a fool would do

If you've never heard of him, you can type into Youtube search engine; "Jesus: Evidence, ancient historical sources"

  • @dirtymonkey55 I know, and it pisses me the fuck off more than almost anything, when someone tries to explain to me why they believe. Because I was raised in a protestant denomination and forced to attend church and believe as early as I could develop memories. Then I meet new converts who just found "god" and they try to explain it to me. When I know a ridiculous amount more than them.

  • @Terminxman im the same mate, raised as a catholic, forced to learn religion until i was 17 in schools, thank "god" i had the sense to see pass the bullshit and think for myself,

how do you create an atheist? by reading the bible lol

  • Quantum entanglement is prohibited to infinitely tiny particles. So far. It's interesting and good science, but I don't think it proves anything in the way of a sky daddy's existence. Just sayin.

  • Tacitus maybe Josephus Flavius, You see the the person who posts this, as do several question the very existence of "The Man Jesus", historically his existence has been historically verified by third party historians closer to his own time with direct access to the actual Roman census records, and the Jewish historical records which both acknowledged his crucifixion as an event that happened. Neither had at the time any reason to falsify the historical record in favor of Christians.

  • @Kromwell2005 If you want to attack the other stories surrounding Jesus as closely related to deities, then that is up for grabs I suppose. But his life and the crucifixion are historical fact.

  • Thank you Bill...for showing the world what a sham religion is!

  • @mywaymn Do you sleep at night better?

  • @gloinstrong I sleep wonderfully, thank you for asking.

  • December 25th is a borrowed day for a God or Prophet to be born. It's been shared throughout religions, but doesn't mean that Jesus didn't exist. I'm not sure if anyone actually KNOWS the exact time and date of Christ's birth.

  • Bill needs to study up on his arguments. The Bible does not claim Jesus was born in Dec

  • Sorry Bill, quantum entanglement proves two "separate things" can be one

Try not to be hemmed in by your liberal logic and human reasoning

  • Smug leftists are unbearable.

    ... and I'm agnostic myself.

  • The "what if you are wrong" position is such an appallingly ridiculous, infantile, dishonest and immoral reason for believing...

  • I do believe that all things are possible. Can't discount anything.

  • BILL MAHER is a jew.

    watch: "How Nations Die!"

  • @jayezzo how would he be if he says to the chirstian "your God", because jews believe in the same God, hes an athiest, a dirty atheist

  • ...youtubers that disable video embedding suck. this means you...

  • Embed disabled? booo :/

  • Hey it's Rocco from Boondock Saints!!!

  • Faith is a belief in something without evidence, that is why faith is not enough for me. I believe in scientific truth as it is the only real truth. Religion is fraudulent, devisive, stops independent thinking and is dangerous. The one good thing about Christianity, and that is it's not Islam.

  • LOL, trying to explain TV, to an ant. I don't like Bill Maher, a despicable

human being, but this is very interesting. I wondered where Seth

MacFarlane came up with his rendition of Jesus, the one they use on

Family Guy. Is Holy Land closing ? I know they charge a ton to get in,

but I didn't know you got to "talk" to Jesus,,, LIVE. Do they also have a

direct "Hot Line" to God ? . I know they haven't pad their taxes, ever...

Talk about graft, greed and corruption, in the name of god..

  • Comment removed

  • LOL, trying to explain to an ant. how a TV works. I don't like Bill Maher, a

despicable human being, but this is very interesting. I wondered where Seth MacFarlane came up with his rendition of Jesus, the one they use on Family

Guy, I got it now. Is Holy Land, closing ? I know they charge a ton to get in, but I didn't know you got to "talk" to Jesus live. Do they have a God, a "Hot Line" ? I know, hey have not paid there property tax in Orlando. Talk about graft, greed and corruption...

  • @mandarinduck yeah, he talked himself there into a corner... Though he didn't see it :p

  • Bill needs to get his facts straight. Mithra and the rest were pagan gods. The Old Testament (written between 2000 and 400 BC) contains many prophetic writings re: Jesus the Son of God, His birth to a virgin, His death, resurrection and ascension. If there are similarities, it is because the pagans stole the ideas from the Old Testament prophecies. Bill himself states that Mithra existed about 600 years BC. Bill Maher has absolutely no credibility. I will pray for him...

  • @LauraCullenyRN - I can't stand all this "I will pray for him, or your soul BS all the time", do yourself a favor, pray that you get a brain and wake up. As an Atheist myself I will say this once. - We do not need anyone to pray for us, and how condescending that is. If someone wants to believe in all this stuff, then fine that is their choice. But stop this whole crap of "your gonna burn or go to hell etc.. for not believing. It's all nonsense. Your are not special because you believe this.

  • @paulcorda First of all, as a Christian in a free country, I have the right to pray for anyone I choose just as you have the right not to pray. Secondly, his facts were wrong about Mithra which means his argument wasn't well researched or credible. Thirdly, as a non Christian, why did Bill Maher feel the need to enter a Christian establishment and rip it's basic beliefs apart? Was it for sensationalism? Was it to make money? I can't think of any other reason....

  • @LauraCullenyRN - Yes, you have the right to pray for whomever you want. Just keep it to yourself, no one wants to hear it. He may be wrong about Mithra (I don't agree) but that does not prove that the Jesus story is true. He is doing his work cause he feels that people need to hear it, Oh yeah, just like every Christian does, so he is no different. He rips on ALL religions, I do not think you got the message of this movie. You may need to take off your Christian filter for a moment.

  • @paulcorda - Personally I think the Jesus in this clip is a genuine nice man, and honestly believes in his Religion, and is generally a good person. That is his right, and he deserves it. All Bill Maher is saying basically is this. Just because you an millions of other people believe something, does not mean that is is true. If any Christian does some honest research not tainted with their own agendas, they'll find there is no evidence to support the religious claims, there are only assertions.

  • @paulcorda I also believe the actor who portrays Jesus in this clip is a genuine nice man and honestly believes in his religion. You are correct. That's his right and he deserves it. My problem was that Bill Maher entered this man's place of work and attacked his faith in front of all the other people who went to the Holyland Experience that day to learn more about and celebrate their Christianity. I believe Bill was out of line. No one deserves to be attacked for their faith or lack of it.

  • @LauraCullenyRN - I see your point as well, but I think attacking may be a strong word. I mean, could not those questions be asked in an inquisitive way. If I were to ask the same questions to Christians, does that mean I am attacking them? and would it not be the same when Christians ask atheists questions or pray for us like we are lost? cause that is very condescending.

  • @paulcorda I pray for people all the time. If stating that fact to an atheist is considered condescending, point taken. I am now aware. Bill (in the car scene) calls our faith complete “Bull….” That is indeed an attack. Asking questions in a respectful and inquisitive way is fine. I would be happy to answer. Bill was not respectful. I have done “honest research” on all world religions and (having done that) have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

  • @LauraCullenyRN -I apologize, if people pray for others well being and good fortune etc.., even though I may not believe in Religion, I still think that is very noble to do. No matter what we each believe, we can strive to wish well upon everyone and work to get along. What I meant was the pity praying for our souls as if we are damned or lost. I agree with freedom of Religion and freedom period, I just do no think it should have any place in law, government, and social agendas.

  • @paulcorda Understood. I believe part of the problem is the word "Religion". Religion is man's way of living out his faith and is usually associated with strict church doctrine. I attend a non-denominational church because I believe it's important for Christians to worship together but the bottom line for me is not Religion but "faith". Faith in a higher power. For me, that means Jesus Christ. As an atheist, do you ever yearn for deeper meaning or are you content that this is it? Just asking...

  • @LauraCullenyRN - That depends on what you mean by "deeper meaning". I believe in love, living well, maximizing our potential, fun, curiosity, thriving for knowledge, and basically living my life the absolute best I can. You say faith and that means Jesus to you. Hypothetically, you could be wrong and Muslims could be correct and Mohammed is the true son of God or God, or Buddha and on and on. They do have faith in their beliefs as being absolutely true. Why is Christianity the only way?

  • @paulcorda I too find deep meaning in everything you mentioned but I believe there is more. Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me". To me, that means there is 1 God and 1 way to Him. I have experienced a personal situation where I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that God was active i my life (and in the lives of two other women) in response to prayer. If you have a mathematical mind, I would refer you to the writings of Peter Stoner.

  • @paulcorda I could relate my own personal (spiritual) experiences to you that make me believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that God (though Jesus Christ) is active in my life today but let's say that you want to approach things from a scientific/mathematical point of view, I would direct you to the writings of Peter Stoner who looked at the mathematical probability that one man could fulfill all the Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament. Fascinating......

  • @LauraCullenyRN - Does that basically mean that Christianity is the right way, and all other ways are wrong? Does that mean myself, and all the others that do not believe Jesus was the " Son of God " are going to hell? Cause unless I am wrong, that is what happens to non-believers.

  • @paulcorda Don't want to get confrontational. As has been stated. Everyone has the right to believe what they want. For me... I already said that I was a Christian. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. In the Bible, Jesus states: I am the way, the truth and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. So, as a Bible believing Christian, this passage tells me that there is one way to the Father and that is through His son Jesus.

  • @LauraCullenyRN - I am not trying to be confrontational, sorry if u felt that. I was a Christian before and truly believed. These were some of the questions that I started to ask myself, that's all. I am not trying to change your faith. If it makes u happy, then good. For me, I just could not believe that others besides Christians would go to hell for not believing in Jesus, especially if they were great people of other faiths etc.. Also the bible says tons of horrible things as well.

  • @paulcorda Yes there are great people of other faiths. Does that mean because they are great (or good) that they will enter the Kingdom of Heaven? How good is good enough? I love the fact that as a Christian, I am saved by His grace. Though I try to live my life the best that I can, I am so far from perfect. I believe in a loving God that cares for me and accepts me in spite of my imperfections. Heaven for me is eternity in the presence of God. Hell for me would be separation from Him.

  • @LauraCullenyRN - If they are great then they should go to heaven, is'nt that why one tries to be great in their life? Apparently, there is no "good enough" for God, no one is ever going to be perfect or good enough for him, or her (which no one ever assumes, another reason why I think it is all bronze aged man made rubbish) so why bother when u can just be forgiven? I do not mean to be rude, but each time I ask any religious person a thoughtful question, instead of answering, they only preach

  • @LauraCullenyRN - I also realize why they only preach. It is because, that is the last resort when there is no proof, evidence, rhyme or reason to it all, It is always just faith. In as much as u are certain of your God, there are Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and on and on, who are just as certain their God is the only God. You cant all be correct, but you can all be wrong. Again, believe what you want, that is fine and it's your freedom to do so.

  • @paulcorda Yes, I gave Biblical text to explain why I believe there is one way to the Father. You asked - I answered. Aside from that, I suggested reading the Egyptian Book of the Dead to see that Bill's claims about the other "Gods" were not based in fact. Also, I suggested reading Peter Stoner's writings about the mathematical possibility that one man (Jesus) could fulfill all of the Old Testament Prophecies. I have relied on not just Biblical, but historical and mathematical texts as well.

  • @LauraCullenyRN Well, going back to the beginning then, I personally do not feel like Bill is attacking Christianity. To me, he is merely asking questions and trying to provoke thought. As for the Mithra thing, I don't care if his facts are not straight. It seems when thought is trying to be provoked then it is usually considered "attacking out faith". Religion should not be void of criticism. It should not have a "special place" where others can't ask questions or criticize or debate.

  • @paulcorda If you are making a documentary, then your facts should be in order. He was not well researched, he called our faith "Bull..." and the name of the documentary itself was meant to make fun of people of faith. I don't agree with his tactics. (My opinion). I have no problem with thought provoking questions. (You have raised some very good questions within this thread). I hope I have had the opportunity to show you that Christians can have a responsible and respectable dialogue.

  • @LauraCullenyRN - To me, Peter Stoner is one man, why is he the authority? I will look him up and research. I do not care to read his books though. But mostly I do not need to. Here is why, I do believe there was a Jesus, he was just a man, maybe very smart or enlightened, and preached and taught. To me, the idea he turned water to wine, walked on water, raised the dead etc.. is absurd. Also, not everything he preached was good or noble, there is lots I do not agree with.

  • @paulcorda You don't need to read Peter Stoner's work on my account and I never said he was an authority. I just said that he looked at things from a mathematical perspective and it was "fascinating". You stated in an earlier post that it comes down to "just faith". You are correct. We will never know what lies ahead until we shut our eyes for the final time. My "faith" that I will someday meet my heavenly Father sustains me. Thanks for the conversation.

  • @LauraCullenyRN - U are correct, we'll not know for sure until we die. So as long as we can find mutual ground, and make the best efforts to get along before that happens, that is the most important thing. Whatever one needs to help them through this life and helps them become a better person, then I'm all for it, whatever that may be. At the end of the day there is good and bad people in all walks of life, religion, politics, etc.It is not the system, but the person who chooses which way to go.

  • @paulcorda Well stated.....

  • @paulcorda This thread all started because I was trying to point out that Bill did not have his facts straight and was going into a Christian establishment and attacking their faith. It has turned into a discussion of why I believe what I believe and I have tried to answer to the best of my ability based on my personal experience, the scriptures, historical texts and mathematical data. I have not been "preaching". I have been answering questions.

  • @LauraCullenyRN Well, Bill is still right though, the New Testament aka with all the Jesus stuff, was written later then the Mithra stuff...

  • @toverkleet If you look at my post, you will see that I stated the Old Testament prophetic writing spoke of Jesus birth to a virgin, his death, resurrection and ascension that were to come. These writings took place from 2000 BC to 400 BC. I stated that the pagan writings about Mithra stole their ideas from the Old Testament writings, not the New Testament. Thanks.

  • @LauraCullenyRN And where were the jews at that time? In Egypt. Where does the three day stuff from? Horus.

  • @toverkleet Please feel free to read the Egyptian Book of the Dead (which this video refers to but the facts in the video are incorrect). The parallels to Jesus are not there. Nowhere does it state Horus’ mother Isis was a virgin. Horus was born in a swamp. He was never Baptized. He had 4 disciples called Heru Shemsu. Not 12 and he was not crucified. Crucifixion did not even exist until 600BC long after Horus supposedly existed.

  • I'm pretty sick of the "what if you're wrong" argument. You don't believe bullshit "just in case." What if the Greeks got it right and all Christians are doomed?

  • Always wondered why an all-powerful god would send his son so we can understand him or that he can understand us. He could have just made us to understand him and if didn't he ain't that smart. if he can't understand us without an intermediary, he ain't that powerful, either. fuck religion. it's just bullshit to control people, preying on their need for answers about purpose, living with guilt & shame, and of course, the all-time #1 fear, death.

  • casual jesus. lol

that would make a great Wrangler jeans commercial!

  • Jesus: you could fill that hole will drugs, sex, exc, but it wont work.

    Bill: can I try?xD

  • What if you're wrong? Now there is the last ditch pitch that religious nuts throw around....the good ol' FEAR CARD once again.

Religion sure has messed up billions of people. To those out there who really want to start thinking on their own and stop being a blind follower. Watch the Zeitgeist movies. Zeitgeist Original with 210 updates, Zeitgeist Moving Forward, and Zeitgeist Addendum.

  • 4:30 - "Born December 25th"

no where in the Bible does it say Jesus was born on December 25th

  • I will never be able to meet this wonderful man because the Holy Land amusement park is closing in the bad economy!! ; 3;

lol, I'd love to ask him about this interview. I love religious folk who can explain themselves.
