Bug in Labyrinth Zone (Sonic 1)

You know what the problem is, right? I believe this would happen in any zone if you were to get there without crossing the sign. The sign represents the end of the level, and the bonus stage is only activated by the end of the level. You can do nothing, since sonic just left, and they didn't program a way out of it. The timer runs out and tries to kill sonic, but can't do so, since there's no sonic to kill. And since Sonic didn't die, there's no way to restart, except for restarting the Genesis.

I was able to do this with debug in Green Hill Zone Act 1, though I had to reach the very top of it then pass it. Then I entered it and tada, I was officially screwed! Also I used debug mode to place the Big Ring (which changed the graphics to the end of level graphics) then entered it, and also I was officially screwed!

I did that before using debug mode. I did this in Green Hill. I transformed into that ring and got inside without completing the act of the zone first.

I done that in Sonic 1 Megamix 3.0 using the debugger. I don't know the debugger code but I did use a PAR code to do it. The big ring was there so I placed one and jumped through it and then tried debuggin it and just COULDN'T MOVE!!!

Good point, I just tried that.

The game plays the death sound, but nothing happens.

The music keeps on playing, the timer is stuck at 9:59, and you can do nothing.
