The guitarists are great, as is the drummer, but the singer sounds strained, like he's trying too hard to force out the vocals.

What are you talking about? Classical rock music has extremely simply boring drum beats.. The drummer in this song is not repeating double bass beats.. If you'd pay attention he's doing various rudiment patterns with his hands and feet. Now go look up Thomas Lang and tell me that he's doing the same thing with the double bass.

Buddy Rich NEVER did anything simple and he was classic. Hell, he's even remember by every drummer in the world (Neil Peart's number one influence by the way).
