  • I pack my glider the same way (but I don't allow the leading edge to be folded up in the middle), so the packing result is, if you pay attention, identical to the "right" way of doing it.

When you do it that way, this packing method is fast. I'm most of the time the first done with packing, even compared to the new quick-stuff-bags. I can highly recommend this method.

  • It begins very nice and you pack very tenderly...but what in all the world are you doing after 3 minutes?? Folding the wing violently from the leading edge so the air cannot get out..so tight folding destroys the mylars and the high air pressure stretches the material!

I agree with your packing method until 3 minutes. All that comes after should not been shown here.

  • @Hruodger88

I think nobody can watch this vid without thinking exactly the same thing. It started out quite impressive, but then you have to think he packed a glider for the first time ;)

  • Why bother? The damn thing will die of tree or bush or fence long before it wears out from folding! (Bitter experience)

  • its put up

  • OK, with a paraglider you make termall flying, XC, soaring, a litle bit of acro maybe, but definitely not origami. Please buy a less expensive piece of fabric to excell in this folding hobby or whatever you may call it. By the way, don't you sell the glider? Pleeeease?

  • One day I hope to see a draw string through the leading edge.

    .

Seems with some manufacturers, mylars are already replaced. By carbon fibre stays

  • @m1aws Check out mylar-fix from U-turn, or you can also try "madsen pack".

    Search for it, user "erlendmc".

  • @eKalhagen

    Thank you sir,

Interesting. Not sure the "Madsen pack" Will work well on my Nova Ra. It has very few lines on an internally cross braced wing but I will have a go sometime.

  • total shit wast of time

  • Search for the "Madsen Pack" on youtube. This method works when its windy and its fast and easy. All the myler are together and you don't have to disconnect your harness.

  • Why?

  • So wrong! If you want to pop a seam, then go right ahead and do this! No way to treat your pride and joy. Start again! Sayonara!

  • wrong way for sure

  • You forgot to take the air off before bending it...lol, nice stuff but Im not quite sure whtether this is good for the glider...

  • i´ve tried it this way.. it´s a very good idea! it´s realy effectiv!

  • Well, we know where the origami come from, don't we?

    lol

  • Why would you fold from the leading edge first?

  • The fold at 3:40 is dumb your glider is all jacked now

  • farflyer is right. This is not a good way of folding your glider. You have probably destroyed most of the mylars by now

  • Rube Goldberg and Heath Robinson couldn't have done better. Get a stuff sack.

  • By folding wing this way you distribute all myler almost into 75% of length of wing cord. Then when you fold the wing in last stage you damage them as they are in line of fold. I would rather to get all mylar in leading edge of wing over each other & keep them all at one segment away from line of folding. Remember undamaged & clean mylar result to less chances of unwanted collapse & faster recovery if it happens, so take care of your wing on the ground she will take care of you up there in Sky.

  • Eu compraria um parapente desse cidadão. rsrsrs

  • ...tá, e é assim que se faz! Sério???? kkkk, nem teve graça!

  • Isnt it too difficult? :-l

  • Parece um modo bem idiota de dobrar...

    1- Estraga o Mylar,

  • Looks pretty stupid to me...

    1- Folds the Mylar,

2- It is not much faster then a regular accordion folding,

3- From the leading edge to the trailing edge??

I always carry a small clamp, it makes very easy when you are folding alone.

Look for the "Handi-Clamps" on IRWIN website

  • But maby effective with strong wind if you are alone?

  • Not really Nocholas, the Handi-Clamps will still be way much better then folding the wing that way. Also, if the wind is strong you can accordion it straigh from the cauliflower (or mushroom as some call).

  • sure......origami!

  • See the video called 'Paraglider Packing.'

Levensduur scherm verminderd hierdoor.

  • Very nice, but too slow I think...

  • i wish you could pack my glider. pretty good video illustration.

  • If this prolongs the life of your wing and resale value because of condition of your mylar partitions- don't knock it. 6 folds left 7 folds right? It might have been easier to fold wing in the final stage from trailing edge to leading edge to get rid of air in cells- other than that I think its a good!

  • great way to pack you wing along with slugs and bugs. No chance of checking to see whats stuck to it. Pointless

  • Tremendous wear and tear on the upper surface being dragged along the ground.

  • note it is very important to have the nose pointing away from the carrier person as if it is located to the bottom and forward the nose will be subject to alot of deformation during movement as there is no support in the pack on the bottom corner by the packs waste band

    FEED BACK WANTED bevanw19 @gmail.c o m

AS AM KEEN TO LEARN NEW IDEAS THAT INCREASE MY GLIDERS LIFE....BEEN FLYN FOR 11 YEARS SPORT IS ALWAYS IMPROVING

  • having the nose of the glider facing down in the back pack and towards the rear means that it is protected by the seat board of your harness during transportation . and note your carry pack is most square with least tension at the bottom. which leads to what i believe to be the optimum position in the entire pack for the location of the paragliders nose.

  • then with the glider in the inner bag should be inserted into the carry pack with the nose to the bottom facing away from the carrier .next place your harness face down onto the glider and close the carry pack.logic behind this method is . most paraglider packs are made to fit glider folded only three times with harness.

  • ideally only three folds should be done with the nose of the canopy inserted into the bottom of the glider inner bag this avoids the draw string on the bag interfering with the nose. ideally leave draw string loose take note the more weight you put on the glider during folding the more damage

  • i have never seen a wing so murdered before

the leading edge has stiffeners in it to maintain shape and stability in the canopy i note he believes he is protecting there shape in the initial folding but it is clear to be seen that it is desirable to have all openings at one end so when you fold it into the bag it does not interfer with the nose

  • It seems he's a skydiver...

  • that way take so so so long i will never try rsrsrsrsrsr

    it suck

  • Very good and fast way to accordian your wing solo, exept the last step of folding into a bundle. We roll the harness onto the wing "cigar" and it does not fold the accordianed ribs...

  • He doesnt kill the cells. You can tell cause there is no wind.

  • feels like he kills the cells with that way off packing.

  • Very Cool !! I will try...
