As everyone knows, for the past while, Yu Na has been winning pretty much all the competitions but what most of you don't know is that this olympics, the Japanese "bought" all the judges so if Yu Na does make even a simple mistake, it is going to cost her lots!!! Both Kim and Mao are fantastic skaters. The winner of this olympic is going to be based on the artistery and how focused you are until the very last second. I can't wait!!!!!!
I think it will be Mao or Yu Na. And I'm not bothered which one because I like both. It will be nice for Yu Na to win if only for her coach Brian Orser, but also it will be good for Mao to win for Tatiana. As a European,I would like to see Carolina win but I really don't think she is in the same class.
haven't been watching the ice skating competitition for so long...about 6 years i think. i'm surprised to see a lot of rising ice dancers from the east. and where are the russian? Mao Asuda, Yuna Kim etc, are they better than the russians? =)
In ladies event the Russians aren't strong, they don't have such a great skater like Slutskaya or Butyrskaya was. Maybe Alena Leonova has chance in Sochi but this Olympics is for the Asian ladies. The gold is given to Yu-Na Kim, the question is who will win the silver and bronze.
She did not qualify. The US can only send 2 skaters to the olympics, the national champion (Rachael Flatt) and vice-national champion (Mirai Nagasu). Sasha took part in the nationals but finished "only" fourth.
I hope Kim Yuna she's amazing! the road seems to be difficult but Yuna can do it. She has been concentrated only for the Winter Games, I hope she does my high five for...^^
yuna kim cause i dont watch figure skating much but when i do she was the skater that wowed me the must that i went online too search more of her skating, She puts a lot of emotion and elegance into her performances
I think Yu-Na pretty much has a guaranteed gold medal... her only competition will be from Mao, and Mao will need two clean programs to best Yu-Na, something she hasn't done all season in international competition. Regardless, those are the only real contenders for Gold and Silver. Bronze will be the medal that the other skaters are all fighting for... I'd expect to see Joannie Rochette, Miki Ando, Carolina Kostner, (clean) Akiko Suzuki, and (clean) Mirai all in contention for Bronze.
@killbethy I agree with you 100%. When you watch videos of the ladies side-by-side, you can really appreciate the speed and height of Yu-Na compared to the others. I wish Mao could have competed in the last olympics. She was the best in the world at that time. I really like Mirai's flexibility and spins. My favorite female skater of all time is Oksana Bauil who's graceful programs took my breath away in 93-95. As she got older, she had technical issues. Too bad.
@lavergne100 i agree with you.. Mao could have skated away with gold in '06; she had a higher degree of difficulty and better consistency than the other Senior ladies. I have a feeling Mao could surprise people these Olympics. She has every other gold medal (GPF. Worlds, Jr. Worlds, JGPF, Nats, 4CC) and has skated all her events this year more like practices than competitions. She might just go for broke at the only competition she hasn't won; and if she nails it, no one will know what hit them.

I like those current girls from Korea and Japan, but they aren't that great. They are good, they do the job well and completing it, but they are stick girls no figure, with same bland looks and cover skate boots always, same moves. They have their respectful programs, but no soul or spirit in their interpretation. None on the ice, they move stiff, they're thinking of what they rehearse with the coach. I hope Rochette wins, she really looks and skates like a champion. A dancer. The aura.

It will be nice for Yu Na to win if only for her coach Brian Orser, but also it will be good for Mao to win for Tatiana. As a European,I would like to see Carolina win but I really don't think she is in the same class.

haven't been watching the ice skating competitition for so long...about 6 years i think. i'm surprised to see a lot of rising ice dancers from the east. and where are the russian? Mao Asuda, Yuna Kim etc, are they better than the russians? =)

In ladies event the Russians aren't strong, they don't have such a great skater like Slutskaya or Butyrskaya was. Maybe Alena Leonova has chance in Sochi but this Olympics is for the Asian ladies. The gold is given to Yu-Na Kim, the question is who will win the silver and bronze.

She did not qualify. The US can only send 2 skaters to the olympics, the national champion (Rachael Flatt) and vice-national champion (Mirai Nagasu). Sasha took part in the nationals but finished "only" fourth.

I think Yu-Na pretty much has a guaranteed gold medal... her only competition will be from Mao, and Mao will need two clean programs to best Yu-Na, something she hasn't done all season in international competition. Regardless, those are the only real contenders for Gold and Silver. Bronze will be the medal that the other skaters are all fighting for... I'd expect to see Joannie Rochette, Miki Ando, Carolina Kostner, (clean) Akiko Suzuki, and (clean) Mirai all in contention for Bronze.

@killbethy I agree with you 100%. When you watch videos of the ladies side-by-side, you can really appreciate the speed and height of Yu-Na compared to the others. I wish Mao could have competed in the last olympics. She was the best in the world at that time. I really like Mirai's flexibility and spins. My favorite female skater of all time is Oksana Bauil who's graceful programs took my breath away in 93-95. As she got older, she had technical issues. Too bad.

@lavergne100 i agree with you.. Mao could have skated away with gold in '06; she had a higher degree of difficulty and better consistency than the other Senior ladies. I have a feeling Mao could surprise people these Olympics. She has every other gold medal (GPF. Worlds, Jr. Worlds, JGPF, Nats, 4CC) and has skated all her events this year more like practices than competitions. She might just go for broke at the only competition she hasn't won; and if she nails it, no one will know what hit them.

I like those current girls from Korea and Japan, but they aren't that great. They are good, they do the job well and completing it, but they are stick girls no figure, with same bland looks and cover skate boots always, same moves. They have their respectful programs, but no soul or spirit in their interpretation. None on the ice, they move stiff, they're thinking of what they rehearse with the coach. I hope Rochette wins, she really looks and skates like a champion. A dancer. The aura.
