  • They shouldn't have cut it, Gerard Butler sings so beautifully.

  • i can understand why they cut it from the movie, because they were pressed for time- but come on: they could have at least put it on the soundtrack!!!

  • this song reminds me of "Heaven's Light" from the Hunchback of Notre Dame...

    Anyone else?

  • i love the viloin at 1:53

  • poor phantom <3 :(

  • <3

  • my heart broke when i heard this .... someone .... please .... get poor Erik a puppy

  • HIS NAME IS ERIC??? Wow, I learned something today! =D When did they say his name in the movie though?

  • @rainbowzebera They didn't. People found out his name from the book.

  • @rainbowzebera They didn't, in the movie he's just known as the Phantom, but his name was in the original novel, and it's spelt Erik by the way :)

  • @rainbowzebera Erik, actually. :) They didn't say his name in the movie (they only reffered to him as "Phantom" / "Opera Ghost" etc.) In the book by Gaston Leroux, his name is revealed as Erik.

  • ill listen to u i love u my names christine so i can be the replacement ill listen 2 you any day

  • Where was this even supposed to go in the movie?

  • the 8 dislikes are from Raoul fans..... D:< .... poor Erik.. my heart broke from watching this.. :''(

  • everyone is like who the hell is erik?

erik is the phantom..mr sexy voice..the man all women want

  • Also this song also makes me think of Beauty & The Beast

  • I would so choose Erik over Raul any day.I personally think Erik is very Handsome both inside and out, yes he did bad things, but he deserved a second chance.

  • @springfairy556 i agree so much

  • Everytime I watch this or the film, it feels like my heart is being ripped out. The only thing Erik has been given in his life is fear, hatred, and abuse. His own mother never even loved him. So when Christine comes along, he doesn't want to give her up. She's the only one who hasn't treated him like some hell-spawn demon born without a heart. She see's the man inside. I just want to jump into the film and give Erik the love he never had. I will always love the phantom and his music.

  • My heart hurts for him, I love Erik (Aka Phantom) so much. Screw Rauol. I do have a question though. When they deleted this scene, where did it take place. It didn't look like the same cave as before and the scale model of "Point of No Return" was there so it must have been placed at they very end of the movie after he escaped from the opera and cleaned himself up. I don't know where he could have gone, bit he must gave stayed somewhere close. Anyway, I love you Angel of Music!!!!!!

  • @KAM112295 i think it would have been placed after the scene were raoul sings "we have all been blind" and before erik goes up to the attic to pull those levers to set the chandelier, maybe...judging by how he's dressed and the way the set is designed

  • @KAM112295 he goes to coney island and i agree that didint look like the same cave as b4

  • This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Poor Erik, he's just a misunderstood guy whose was shamed, beaten, and made fun of his whole childhood. He might be a bit insane but come on, cut the guy some slack. He just wanted to be loved by someone, and that happened to be Christine. He started to murder people for her love and because Rauol stole her from him. I don't care if they were childhood sweethearts. Key word there WERE! Erik (Aka Phantom) I'll listen till the day I die and I would l

  • AAAAAAW! Gerry, I'll listen!

  • best part of the movie even though its not in the movie!

  • I'll listen.. <3

  • Phantom forever man! :D Hahaha! Just had to say it! :D

  • team erik all the way!!

  • they shouldnt have cut this. it gives the Phantom just enough humanity. people need to understand that he wasnt all bad. yes he was a murderer, and he could very well have been insane. but he did love christine. he wasnt just some creepy guy living in the catacombs of an opera house. he was a broken man rejected by an ignorant world for something that was totally out of his control. he was looking for someone to love and understand him,and that someone, in his mind, was christine. end of story.

  • I can not belive they cut this out! Holly crap im sitting hear crying! WHY DID SHE HAVE TO LEAVE HIM!!!!!!!! HE IS HER ANGLE OF MUSIC! He loves her but she dose not love him. I am so sad now......

  • lol he's so alone it's really sad

but its a really nice song

  • How could you dislike this unless you have no heart?

  • @Alaskarocks1 Mabie they disliked this becasue they where so sad.....but i agree with you.

  • i will listen to u every single second of my life:)

  • @sensitive4321 it's the Phantom, in the book his real name was Erik.

  • It sounds like this song was written for Gerard because although I'm not the biggest fan of Gerard, this is absoulutely beautiful. What I'd give to hear Ramin Karimloo sing this, though...

  • i think if this song was in the movie it would have mde more sence of why he wanted christine

  • I just realised this has the sane music as Learn to Be Lonely ( also part of the Poto music) just with different lyrics. Mind blown.

  • This truly made me fall more in love with the character of the Phantom.

  • hot but so sad i had to keep reminding myself not to cry but still verry hot

  • I wish men would have a deep love for that one special woman.... but instead..they want more than just one... :( And Chriatine doesn't go with poor Erik at the end, even though he was the oe that loved her most :,(

  • @ChiquitaMexicana1 who the hell is erik

  • I can see how people assume that The Phantom is a psychopath, but he really is not. He's just a man plagued by love. And his love denied him. D;

  • @TheInuyanma The reason people speak of the Phantom as a psychopath is because in the book and earlier versions of the musical he is a psychopath. In the book he's a total creep and it isn't because of her denying his love. It's because his bitterness toward society has turned him completely insane. Yes, in this version he's really not that way, but that's because this version is a very romanticized version of the original. But, hey, I like it a lot better than the original because of that.

  • @hannahbananana1 i agree soo much

  • @sensitive4321 look up geard butler face book lots of hot photos

  • omfg soo frekan hot cant stand it tallent and looks he is the complete package i know wat i want for christmas.......HIM

  • I'm going to add this to the soundtrack for my iPod. :) But which track would it be, number wise?

  • @KlayWorldRoks If it were me, I would add it in as the last but one. At the end of the soundtrack, but before 'Learn to Be Lonely' which is the last song.

  • I love this :') <3

  • gerard you sexy beast ;)

  • Why did they delete this song? Its so beautiful

  • I really think they should've put this in because when you think of Erik you think nothing but his sad, depressing, life and thoughts, but this shows that he does have a little more thoughts rather than just Christine and his own self-hatred.

    also...pause at 1:53. your welcome

  • DAM THESE ADS

  • I want to know where this song apeared from!

  • It really, really sucks that they didn't keep this in the film :(

  • I rlly wanna hug him =( breaks my heart to hear him sing this. stupid Christine.... grrrrrrrrrrr..... poor erik <3

  • It's a shame this never made it into the movie or the musical. it speaks the truth about what he feels. But, with the way Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the finale, there was no room for it.

This song pretty much sums up the end of the book, when Erik explains why he let Christine, Raoul and the Persian leave. Then he dies in the end of the book from a broken heart.

  • I agree that the phantom was the better choice, completely and utterly. But I think she made the wisest decision leaving with Raoul. What did the phantom have to offer her? He was a wanted, half-crazed angelic genius who lived beneath an opera house. Where was Christine's life in all of that? He is a creature of the night and she is a creature of the sun. The only real things he had to offer her was his love and his voice and his eternal understanding. But Raoul was in love with her too.

  • I wonder why this was deleted, I find it inspiring.

  • i just thought of this, but isnt it kind of the phantoms fault that she marries raoul? like, if he didnt drop the background on carlotta and make christine the lead, raoul would never have seen her.....

  • love never dies was really far fetched and filled with plot holes. i was really disappointed. i love phantom of the opera it's a wonderful film and novel, but love never dies just didn't make any sense :(

  • @theworldsautomaton i never saw it, but my dad says it's bad.

  • how can i get this song?

  • I'm totally abusing the replay button right now ._.

  • I can't believe it isn't in the movie, I love this song, and I love phantom no matter if this song wasn't in or not, because he tells her to go to take Raoul because he loves her and he only proves that he does by letting her go and follow her heart. But of course a part of me wished she chose him.. You're not alone Phantom <3

  • How dare they delete this from the movie!

  • @BarbieGirl447 this was his best solo

  • @BarbieGirl447 this was his best singing act

  • @BarbieGirl447 Because the ending would seem even more illogical than it does now. They tried to dehumanize Erik at the very end, which made no sense... it'd make less sense if we actually observed his human side completely revealed.

  • This song was so great. It should've been in the movie!

  • Was this scene suppose to be after "Music of the Night"?

  • @austinSN Masquerade, you can see his red costume on the chair. They shouldn't have deleted this, it's pretty awesome showing that the phantom is worth pitying.

  • this song kinda describes my life. poor Erik</3

  • Why didn't this scene get put in the movie, and why wasn't Christine thrown in

  • I'd listen...;~;

  • Where's the love button?

  • I'm so crying right now. Beautiful song ;C

  • i feel so sorry for Eric.... spends most of his life at the opera house teaching his one love to sing and thanks to him teaching Christine.... he looses her to Raoul. none of my friends and family understands why i feel sorry for The Phantom but he has lost his one love and finally gets her back in Love Never Dies only for her to be killed by Meg.... such a sad story. </3 if i was Christine... i'd have married Eric straight away :)

    I LOVE THE PHANTOM!!! :D

  • Does anyone know at what point this would going to be in the movie?

  • @MsMAdHaTtErNo1 After she and Raoul were on the rooftop, before the Masqurade. It you watch closely, he has the plans for Don Juan. c:

  • This song was a HUGE part of the movie/plot/characters ect.

WHY THE HELL DID THEY REMOVE IT???

oh yeah, because it makes him the goodguy! >C

    damn.

  • @saya5933

It might not actually be that. This was never part of the musical, so why would they put it in the movie? Apart from cinematic intrigue, there's not much to it.

And yes, I do love the Phantom of the Opera. Take that into note before tangents.

  • wow, with that mask on hes the hottest guy EVER, and without it hes atleast a 7.

    what did she see in Raoul again??? ;3;

  • I WANT THE DOWNLOAD LINK! D;

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song

  • They shoulda put this in the movie...)":

  • Awwww, that song was so sad, it made me cry :( I love this movie so much!

  • @Hugemickeyfan yes dont u wish they added this to the movie, because they only added the instrument at the end when raoul putting the monkey on her grave

  • Erik was there with her, through her father's grief. He taught her, he knew her. Raul, for years they were apart. True, they were children, but that's also a part of my reasoning, their memories were made more golden by childhood. When he became the patron for the opera house, he didn't even recognize her. It wasn't until she was singing and he was like, "Hey hold up now, she got hot and grew some nice breasts! I MUST HAVE HER!" And of course, she fell for his flattery. Instead of Erik's love.):

  • @ElvenShalafi Yeah, but The Phantom was a PSYCHO STALKER UNHEALTHILY OBSESSED THAT WOULD HAVE KEPTHER PRISONER FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!! People always seem to forget that.

  • @ElvenShalafi Why do I have the feeling you, Phans, never even attempted to read the original novel? - you would then clearly see, this 'marriage' wouldn't be as beautiful as it seems in the musical.

  • @Wykletypl But ALW took that story and made his own version, keep that in mind. Yes, compare it to the novel of course, but the story here is a bit different and so are the characters. Yes, he's dangerous and perhaps mentally unstable - it's understandable given what he's been through, but there's good in him and Christine sees that. Who knows what would have happened in time, or if things had happened differently and Christine chose a life with the Phantom. This has it's own not-novel story.

  • @ElvenShalafi And its sad to see that most of the fandom are for Erik/Christine, I know its sad to see Erik alone but he would have not done well with her, especially when she loved another. Many sympathize with the Christine ALW has portrayed because she seems a tad crueler in Leroux's novel, If all the fangirls actually read the book, some would look at her differently ;_;

  • @silvermaid462 You do have a point.

  • @silvermaid462 I agree. As for Christine, is she really a bit crueler? I should probably re-read the novel sometime soon, it's been a few years and I don't remember it that well.

  • @ElvenShalafi i would have choose phantom over raul anyday

  • @birdluver917 Yup, that's sensible.

'o ya ya i wanna mari a sykopaf juss becoz hes hota thn raoul o ya cme for me gerard yaayyayaya'

  • @ElvenShalafi Raoul loved her as well, it wasn't just flattery. As for Erik, do keep in min that he killed people as well. And if he had truly loved her, he would have let her be happy with Raoul instead of persisting and abducting her during the Point of no Return. Would you fall for a killer who stalked and abducted you? Do keep that in mind.

  • @ElvenShalafi Probably one of the best comments ever written.

  • when you love someone and if you love them enough set them free ad if they come back that means they love you back

  • @BRICHforeva she did come back! except she only came back to dump him. I would be all "Forget you Raul! I love Erik!!!"

  • awww that song made me cry it was so sad

  • <3 <3 <3

  • This song is so sweet!

  • Wait is there a second phantom movie not the one with the guy who was the old Freddie crueger?

  • I'm listening! i'm listening! forget Christine, you have me! i love you!!!

  • In this movie, you can see the electricity and eroticism between the Phantom and Christine.

  • It's creepy how much I identify with this song and Erik... o.O I need to stop sitting in my basement composing...

  • i absolutely love this song

  • @rosieprospect me to

  • OfficalRUG do you happen to know where abouts in the movie this song would have went?

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I WANT THEM TO MAKE A PART 2! ♥

  • @yessirrxo That would only happen if Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted to write another Phantom Of The Opera. Which he probably wont seeing as it has been so long since the first one was produced. Plus it wouldn't really work seeing as the Opera house burnt down..

  • @yessirrxo

Wow how many years has it been ever since it came out........WE NEED PHANTOM OF THE OPERA; RETURN OF THE PHANTOM

  • @yessirrxo that´s impossible, there is only a book. Besides the phantom die at the end TwT

  • Erik was a murderer, arsonist, kidnapper and pervert. No wonder she didn't choose him.

  • I AGREE DUDE, THANKS FOR RUINGING NUMBER 2 >:X

  • @Mikiwaterdemen

    Spoiler alert, pl0x? I hate you :(

  • this really shows the softer side of the phantom, they should of never cut it out:(

  • @MaSterDeiTObi yeah and it also shows alot of his past and why he is the way he is and why christine meant so mutch to him

  • HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN HIS CHILDHOOD!!!!!????? :´,(

  • u'd think they'd put this in the stage version

  • This is so my life's theme song.....

  • I think they didn't put this in the movie because it somewhat shows a nice side to the Phantom, but the director was looking for a more violent murderer guy so Christine wouldn't fall in love with him. But I have <3!!!

  • Seriously people, you'd pick a homicidal maniac who had kidnapped you, punjabbed several of your colleagues, stalked you, showed a creepy obsession with you, lived in a damp dungeon and set fire to the opera house...over your childhood best friend who only showed signs of wanting to protect you? Because he can SING? Oh yeah, that makes sense.

  • @Eruadhiel Yup it totally makes sence! Eek I <3 Phantom!!!!!

  • Aww this song is sad!!

  • I would live with him, even in his lair with all the fire hazardous candles.

  • Why they just delete all the good songs that make me cry??? (though others are great too but this song & Learn to be lonely r my fav!!!)

  • Why did she pick raoul? before she even got married to him she found the phantom, slept with him, he leaves, she had his baby, (10 yrs later) went to cony island to sing, ended up fallin in love with him again, he finds out about his son, makes a bet with raoul that she'll pick him over him, raoul loses bet leaves, meg goes bonkers, tries to kill phantom's kid, ends up shooting christine, she dies and the phantom ends up without his true love(again) it wouldve been better to just pick him 1st!!!

  • @Mikiwaterdemen wow where did you find that out poor phantom if i were christen i would have picked him first

  • @Mikiwaterdemen If you refer to Love Never Dies, I Honestly can ONLY see that as either being Canon to the Phantom Story or otherwise an Alternative ending- To me the REAL ending would be of After Christine kissing the Phantom, he does develop some humanity to him and once he realizes what he has done, what he is doing and at what lengths, If SHE were to love him, it should not be by emotional blackmail in what he was doing. so he set's her free with Roaul, in thats how much he loved her

  • @Mikiwaterdemen I read a fanfic that took off from after the movie. She did indeed see Erik while she was engaged to Raoul. I didn't read anymore because it was too much. Ha ha! I became very infatuated with the story.

I would totally choose The Phantom. Why? He truly is in love. Would do anything for her.

By the way, Gerard is brilliant in the film. xoxo

  • @DecadentlySweet Hey just wondering, what is the fanfic you read called?

  • @Mikiwaterdemen Thank GOD I've actually seen both musicals before reading this comment. That way I can laugh as heck at the comment instead of bashing you for spoiling it. xD

  • @Mikiwaterdemen REALLY!!! lol :) I want to know what happens to Erik and Gustave after LND.

  • @Mikiwaterdemen We do not discuss Phantom in Manhattan... That never happened...

  • @Mikiwaterdemen Love Never Dies is kind of screwed up.

  • @Mikiwaterdemen

She made bad, bad decisions...it bit her in the butt in the end!

But in a way I think she wanted stability in her life and thats why she chose Raoul to begin with. Erik was all over the place...hot and cold. So I do get that. She always loved him though thats the thing.

  • @FunnyMsFace Yeah, I think he needed to calm down a bit. He would of kept her to himself and she wouldn't get the freedom that she would with Raoul.

  • @Mikiwaterdemen I REFUSE to acknowledge the sequel, and so do a good many phans.

  • @ModerneVampiressa I Agree. Tean Erik! But In being Team Phantom/Erik, we are Forever Alone! LND was a terrible fanfic, I dont acknowledge its existence unless i am spitting on it.

  • @Mikiwaterdemen When did this stuff happen? I don't remember any of that happening in The Phantom of the Opera. I seem to recall that similar events happened in Phantom: Love Never Dies, but as we all know, that's a totally stand alone piece...

  • @Mikiwaterdemen where the hell did you get all this bull?

  • I feel as if im the only guy here...

  • @farmerboy245 no your not im here to

  • @farmerboy245 ahh your not lol im a guy

  • I long to listen....

  • Where was this supposed to be put in the movie? It's really good :D

  • Something about his voice & demenior makes me want to run up & kiss him :x

I wish they wouldve kept this song in, I love the humanity it possesses.

  • I hated the phantom before but when I heard this, I cried.

  • And this was cut out.... why?

  • I can't beleive they didn't out this in the movie!!!!!!

  • mcCartenymadness1964 if she chose the phantom why did he give him back her ring??

  • You all realize That Christine DID choose the phantom, right? When she sang to him "god give me courage to show you you are not alone" she was choosing to stay with the phantom so Raoul could go free but then Erik let her go free bcuz her kiss was the first act of love that he had ever received.

  • At what point in the play is this song sung? Ik it's near the don Juan part. Cuz there was a mini set up of it on a table.

  • Is there anywhere we can LEGALLY get this song? I love it, but it is nowhere to be found on iTunes. =/

  • He's so beautiful in so many ways but he's so twisted inside!

  • i love Erik dearly but i think that she chose the right person. Don't hate. If i were Christine i would've chosen Raoul too. This song is really pretty. :D

  • @McCartneyMadness1964 Yea i would choose Raoul as well. You're right

  • 8 people wouldnt lisen

  • Chrstine's an idiot. Simple.

  • @SophieWoodsley HOW!!!

  • ok why did they delete this song????? its so sweet and amazing, makes me cry just hearing him sing it!!!

  • Well, if Christine doesn't want him I'll take him! ;) lol

  • 8 poeple wouldn't listen :(((

  • I love Gerald Butlers work. His best role EVER. Its a shame they deleted this song i would see it at the end whenn she leaves him instead of the crashing mirrors scene...

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs in the movie! How could they delete it? D:

  • Shame it was deleted. It is so sad, but very beautiful, and he is the mkost gorgeous phantom ever

  • In my own opinion I don't really see why this song was deleted. They say its because it made Erik 'to much of a softie' but I think that that was really a side of Erik. He was so tormented as a child that he had no idea how to interact with people, and killing them just seemed like a reasonable answer. Yet, under all that there was seriously a tormented character who only wanted love, kind of really sad to watch. End my over anaylis of a character.

  • I like this song it is cute to hear it

  • where was this on the dvd?

  • @LarissaLaird on the 2 disk dvd, second disk.

  • there's just one thing i don't understand, phantom teaches Cristine throughout all her musical career, but still when she sings "think of me" on the stage, he gets all enchanted by her voice.....what?

  • @skatmusen It's probably because though he taught her to sing, since she was never in a lead role (or any big role) she never had a chance to really use it. so that was the first time really hearing it in all of its glory, finally seeing the product of their hard work.
