  • I'll watch the movie if you're in it XP

Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit were two of the most wonderful games ever. I only hope that if Shenmue 3 ever comes out, it employs a similar look and feel in the non-fighting portions.

  • Ive always wanted to play heavy rain, the same guys made farenheit on the ps2... I think HR is the only reason I regret getting a 360 over a PS3 :(

  • @Kawaiiprincess01 I agree with you on this one..being able to play the game and actually control the characters and make their decisions would make watching a movie based on the game pointless! Heavy Rain is one of the best games I've ever played..I don't think I've ever gotten so attached to characters in a game as much as I did in this one. Oh and Mark Wahlberg playing Nathan Drake is pure nonsense!! I think James Lafferty would be really good for the part. Great channel btw :)

  • I actually bought the PS3 just so I could play this frickin' awesome game. I already had the xbox 360 and a very good gaming PC, both with loads of games but stupid quantic dreams made it exclusive for the PS3. Never mind, I got to play Metal Gear, Uncharted and a couple more games. Totally agree with you, Meg, this game rocks, is so different and refreshing. It's quite an experience in my humble opinion. Not to mention the high production values. Looking lovely as always, Meg, btw.

  • heavy rain the movie? shouldn't they make heavy rain the game first?

  • I agree with you, but I do think that if the movie industry showed some respect to the video games that they want to adapt, then there could be a version of some of our favorite games that work as films. I for one, would love to see a Bioshock film done correctly. I don't really want to see a Heavy Rain one, because it's already so cinematic, and it's multiple endings and alternate choices add to the experience so much, so making it one linear plot line wouldn't really do it justice.

  • also in my top 10 games!! it was so immersive and beautifully done, I found myself pausing the game to stop and think about what decision to make, and after all of my gut instinct decision making, I beat the game with the best ending to the game possible, I didn't kill anyone!! fantastic game, I loved it, and a movie would be okay, I just don't really think I'll be as emotionally involved in it as I was the game, but I'd like to see a different interpretation of it

  • I try to see the positive...

There are some holes in the plot, which a well constructed movie could fill. Sometimes you discover something with one character and the story jumps to a different character and they know that information without even being connected to the previous character. What drives these characters in between the playable parts is a mystery at times which a movie could shed light on.

  • konichiwa kawaii-ojoo-sama:D

i dont think that heavy rain must be a movie... heavy rain is already an awsome interactive movie:DD <3 :))

hey if you want you can add me in playstationnetwork:D my name is:

    zxcvbnmm...... i know i know... its a crazy name;D

i wish you a wonderful day from cologne in germany:)

  • I really enojoyed this story. When I first got it as a heavily belated Birthday gift. I beat it in about 8 hours across two nights. I don't know why I chose to play it beyond Midnight for two different nights. I guess it brought me more into character. And when I finally finished, I just felt relieved, and felt proud that I saved everyone.

  • Ok ill talk about wat I do like. The visuals are very detailed and do a great job of immersing me in the world. I like watching madison paige go potty. I like playing cutscenes as oppossed to just watching them. I enjoyed the controls a lot. Except the sixaxis stuff. I think I'm done. Sry about the lenght.

  • With all this big talk I was expecting an airtight story. Not whiney killers that cry,and plot holes. I also wanted to do some actual detecting. But norman is too busy snorting coke. Madison is too busy taking her clothes off, ethan is too busy being a dumbass and scott is well...I know I sound super negative, but I appreciate hr. I just don't hail it a masterpiece. As far as the movie goes...just rewatch Se7en.tata

  • Dc only did that to make a mockery of games. For a year straight I read every interview he did. "Games r so immature, shoot shoot shooting, french french french." Watever. Dc went to south philladelphia to do research for the game. Wat did he see? A whole lotta minorities. Wats in the game? A whole lotta europeans in thrift clothing. Facepalm. The game couldve been culturally rich but, that failed.

  • Like wen u have to waste the drug dealer 'but wait' he has kids.or dare I say the whole prelude. Sry jason, I don't like u.and if I was your dad I wouldve never bout u a ballon cuz I would b too busy beating your spoiled ass. Ethans such a push over. If heavy rain was the movie it so desperateky wants to b, it wouldn't start with some douche brushing his teeth. That's boring.he couldve gotten us used to the controls by investigating one of the earlier victims or something cool like that.

  • Well, heavy rain does give players one hell of a ride. the first playthru is sublime. subsequent playthrus reveal the fundamental flaws of the game er movie. watever. ill just address the no game over aspect. its a cool aspect definately. but i think it hurts the game nore than it helps. all types of illogical shit happens when u "fail" like ethan being arrested then suddenly set free. Then the game wastes time trying to get me to cry and junk.

  • No The reason why Heavy Rain is good is because of the innovation and interactivity OF a murder mystery. On the silver screen people can't interact with the movie. So it will be just another mystery thriller with the name heavy rain.

  • @redx370 Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy did that five years ago.

  • Seeing as how most video game movies just don't work out, I'm not sure I would really want this. If they are for sure going to make it into a movie, they'd better get David Cage heavily involved in it, otherwise I would rather not see it happen. Heavy Rain is sort of like a movie in video game form, which allows for a very unique way to tell a story. I just don't see that translating well into an actual film.

  • I completely agree. There are many games that I would like to see transformed into a movie...properly of course. However I feel that too many directors are not very familiar with the source material or don't understand the spirit of it. The only game - to- movie that I actually like and was about 70% faithful to the source material was Silent Hill; I thought it was a completely brilliant movie and it did a great job at being faithful to the game from the camera angles to the soundtrack.

  • this game is similar to indigo prophecy, if you liked heavy rain i reckon you should try it. it has different playable characters, about murder and plays very much like a movie, in fact it is often dubbed as the "as the first truly interactive film" (quoted from Quantic Dream)

  • @KoreanOTB holy cow! it's by the same developers!!! who would have guessed!! :O

  • 3 people never re-spawned.

  • Ok... there are deffinately pro's and con's for this movie idea.

I guess the pro's would be that instead of spending 12+ hours sitting though the gameplay 'movie' (which i personally LOVED) you can just take 2+ hours to sit through a weaker, but similar experience.

The primary con is that if they don't use the actors that were in the game (why not!? they look identical!) then this will suck.

I am looking forward to this, and at the same time, I'm uncertain. QUANTIC DREAM must make it! x3

  • I agree, why is there a need to make a movie of this game? The whole point is the game is set up like a movie. So seems weird to make a movie of a movie-game?? Oh well Im sure it will make someone a ton of cash ;o) x

  • Hollywood need to get money somewhere Meg. Did you see the Prince of Persia flick with us? Because that was alright...

  • I think if your going to watch "Rain" you should play heavy rain first so you can fully experience all the amazing things the game has to offer :)

Ps: i can stop lookin into your eyes they are very beautiful :)

  • Hey KP, thanks for reading my comment on your show. I leave a lot of comments on the YouTubes and it's good to know that people actually read them from time to time.On a completely unrelated note, I just beat Batman: Arkham Asylum. It was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Play it as soon as you can, if you havent already.

  • cmon i think mark whalberg can pull it off :)

  • I completely agree with you !!!

Heavy Rain will never work as a movie......!

  • I think the game is already a movie.. a freaking epic movie lol.

  • heavy rain is... ok. i bought it when it came out, but i wish i rented it because it's the type of game that once you find out the ending, you never really play it again. the experience is no longer the same as that first time. and since this game doesn't really offer anything else, that hurts it more than other games. if you ask me, heavy rain would've been better as a movie for that very reason. plus, a 2 hour movie is better than a 8 hour movie game.

  • I really hope this movie is made well! Some people (like my mom) think videogames have no story at all and they are a waste of time. This movie could be the opportunity to show what makes games so awesome!

  • I think Heavy Rain could translate into a movie. The games set up is more movie like then any other game out on the market. As long as the casting and scripting is done properly I can see this being the first game to movie to actually work!

As for Mark Wahlberg being Drake, Eurgh I agree, it should be Fillion, but apparantly Wahlberg is no longer Drake?

  • Heavy Rain is already a movie, and a terrible one at that.

  • @poweroftheglory Any particular reason at all? Didn't like the story/characters? I hate to sound like an English teacher lol but WHY do you dislike it? I'm interested :)

  • @Kawaiiprincess01

I dont know about him/her but for me it just didn't cut the mustard (lack of real explanation intentional, its all I got). It was a slow paced bore and returned to gamestation within a hour.

  • @xZNHYPERx Thank YOU for responding :)

Interesting indeed, the first hour or so was very slow paced I'll agree with you there, but I thought it picked up nicely after that. Thank you very much for sharing your opinion! :D

  • @Kawaiiprincess01 Your very much welcome gorgeous! ;)

  • @powerofthegloryheavy rain whas awesome.. go get a ps3 and stop playing on a shittybox

  • I am glad I saw your take on this because for a few years now I have thought about a few of the games I like being made into movies (I used to say it about Primal), but now that I've seen your take on it I kind of agree that it would take away the most important part...me being in it. Anyway, again glad to have come across this and have subscribed. Thanks!

  • games are games, films are films and never the twain shall meet.

  • Another great video.

Off topic but are you getting a 3DS.

  • @28steryan Shit you answered my question later, it's Ste as in Stephen and Ryan my last name, don't worry though everyone butchers it.

  • I think there is absolutely NO reason to make Heavy Rain into a movie. I cannot think of a single game to movie transition that I have been satisfied with. The closest to that would be Final Fantasy Advent Children but it wasn't live action.

Heavy Rain created such a unique experience because of, like you said, the interactivity. You controlling the characters actions and choices creates the suspense and excitement I don't think a film could capture.

We've gotta solve this MGS problem!

  • Interesting. I would like to see a movie made from resistance fall of man, Kind of like saving private ryan and war of the worlds.

  • Also , this is by no chance the first video game trying to make its way to the big screen. But sadly, there hasn’t ever really been a “good” video game- based movie, and to add insult to injury, a terrible game based on a movie is usually made afterwards, which can greatly harm certain franchises

sooo i'm not really sure if it's going to be a great move to adapt the game into a movie :s ..

    What u think Meg ?

  • I don't I like the idea of Heavy Rain being adapted into a movie , but if that happens I think they just need to approach it differently. Like show us a different part of the story that you couldn’t have seen in the game like let a minor character in the game have an epic story that aligns with the game’s in certain parts. And make sure that in the places where the movie story does align with what was seen in the game :/

  • Heavy Rain is more than the Traditional Movie u see in Hollywood.

The Heavy Rain medium is like 20 movies in one.

You control the characters, the characters can die which give the user a sense of tension which u don't get in movies or other games

Whatever the characters do , the plot changes accordingly.

    You have a CHOICE,u r the Director.

For those reasons alone Heavy Rain medium like no other.

    The story is a Masterpiece.

  • Ur so cute.

  • The one and only good reason for making Heavy Rain into a movie is to spread the awareness of the game. In order to experience it first you have to be into video games, second you have to have a PS3, and finally you have to be into those sort of games. As for anything else...I don't see a solid point in turning it into a movie. Sure, it would be fun to watch, and maybe regular movie goers will enjoy it, but I don't see it making a huge impact.

  • Heavy Rain was amazing. 100%. But as far as the film goes. I just want to see someone else's directive take on it. That's why I'm happy it's being made, to see if it can give me the same emotional jolt as the game did.

  • Heavy Rain was the only reason i bought a ps3 ........ and to hear that there making it into a movie ?? Has really shocked me to the core..... I truly cant see how its going to work...... and as you said in your video the gameplay is what made Heavy Rain in the first place.

The only games to movies crossover that even remotely worked imo were Silent Hill and Resident evil (The first movie that lol ) Again another great video keep em coming x

  • @AVIKILLER666 i got mine for mgs4 lol

  • Good video, love seeing girl gamers, especially with a pommie accent :)

  • I hate mark wahlberg, he has no charisma.

  • Beautiful girl who like videogames, love it.

    Marry me?

  • It would be hard to incorporate Jayden's character fully in a two hour flick; at best, he will probably be a stereotypical cop (none of the weird glasses stuff). The movie will probably focus on Ethan; Madison will be in there as a love interest and strong female lead; and Shelby, of course, will be there.

I disagree that the strongest element of Heavy Rain was the interactivity. I think the strongest element was the story, and for that reason I think a movie can work.

  • Heavy Rain is hands down my favorite game of the last decade, and quite possibly my favorite game of all time (I have a soft spot for FF7 and the Tex Murphy Series, but those are over a decade old).

I'm okay with the movie, but I think it will probably pale in comparison to the game. The Shelby character will have to be developed more fully, because without interactivity the audience won't buy that he is a P.I. The Jayden character will probably be less fully developed.

  • How many freaking games have been "announced"? There's like Halo, Uncharted, this and like a million more it seems like.

Anyways I love this game, but if this was a movie they would have to make it amazing. No bull crap like all the Street Fighter movies. It would be a really depressing movie though.

  • Is the Rain movie going to have the same stories and characters? If so, i agree with you on your points. But I will probably still see it lol

  • PS- new video topic. Games translated to movies- good or bad? :-D

Personally I thought the Silent Hill film was great, really enjoyed that :)

  • @ianwilson1978 I agree the interpretation of the director for that film made the transition from game to film successful. Contrast that to Resident Evil though, that didn't work at all! Was too Hollywood-ised imo. So they can work, but I believe in depends on the artists (i.e. the script writer and director)!

  • movie will not catch on. it'll almost feel like a straight to video film. may be good, depending on the screenplay. doubt it, though.

  • Hadnt heard of this until seeing your video Meg. I pretty much agree with you- dont really see the need to make a film (other than the obvious possible financial benefits). I've a feeling it will disappoint- so many questions to ask like are actors from the game being used etc... We'll wait and see.

This video also reminded me how good the soundtrack, got it stored on my PS3 (after getting it from the Special Edition version) but will have to transfer it to my iPod.

  • Heavy Rain is not the first to use the fog gimmick to hide the limitations of a console... but I must say that Heavy Rain did use the fog well and I think they were not masking any big limitation as it was used in previous games that I have played.

  • @zenmart The fog reference was in relation to Silent Hill not Heavy Rain :)

  • @ianwilson1978 Lol :)

  • apparently they haven't got a cast for the film, why don't they just use the actors from the game it just wouldn't be the same without them

  • Video game should never become movies Period. theres no point in it. It will always do the game injustice. thats my opinion!

  • 1. yes the heavy rain movie idea is dumb, it wont have the same impact as the game and how the hell r u supposed to turn a 10 hour game into a 2 hour movie

    2. survival horror got a reboot with the dead space series, done.

  • i agree with you 100%, rather than making movies out of games or the other way round they should do something new and cool like wt heavy rain did with games, i loved the game sooo much and the soundtrack is amazing too

P.S. you look a little different on your second part of the video

  • I don't know whats worse......

Hollywood thinking re-hashing films from the 80's is better than creating ideas of their own, or Hollywood actually wanting to go ahead with this project because the work has pretty much been done for them already.

It won't happen though, the same reason why Half Life won't be made into a movie. Because the scripts just won't be good enough.

  • There is no Mark Wahlberg, there is only Marky Mark.

  • yea i dont understand how they can take a game that has multiple possible endings into a movie.

  • I really hope they don't do a poor job that would break my heart, I think its risky

  • I LOVE HEAVY RAIN!!!!!!

  • Although Heavy Rain was a great (and certainly unique) experience for me, I don't think that David Cage is a particularly good writer. I understand why he abandoned the super-natural element he originally wanted to incorporate into the games storyline, but since he decided on keeping one particular red herring, this lead to a major plot-hole. I also found the modus operandi of the Origami killer to be highly unbelievable due to various logical inconsistencies in planning, motivation and action.

  • LMAO @ 7:48! :D

It definitely sounds like an interesting concept for a movie but IDK whether it would be good or not as I'm one of those people who hasn't been able to play the game yet. :(

Either way: I hope it proves not to be disappointing for you and other Heavy Rain fans. :)

  • Thanks for answering my question towards the end of this vid and for the heavy rain movie, I really think they should leave it alone because it's gonna end up becoming one of thoses crappy video game based films alongside the super mario bros film and etc. I heard that they're gonna do the same thing to Metal Gear Solid and that too is like a movie that u could star in.

  • 99.9% of movie remakes of video games are absolutely rubbish. I could careless. It's just the big wigs recognizing that Heavy Rain was a successful game, and they want to captialize on it.

  • I totally agree with you. However, I don't believe it's just Heavy Rain. I think this sentiment rings true with games to film in general.

The relationship between film and viewer will never be the same as videogame and player.

Ps. I can see your pretty busy, but I'd love to see some more game reviews from you.

    Keep up the awesome work.

  • I sincerely doubt the Heavy Rain or "Rain" movie will be close to the video game. I hope they make it long enough to hold much of the chapters that make heavy rain the thriller it is. As for the Mark starring in the Uncharted movie, I could care less since I'm not a fan of the games. Now, don't get me wrong, I've been told by so many the games are brilliantly amazing but not my taste. (:

    Great Video Meg.

  • I'd only be ok with a heavy rain movie if you were cast as Madison, haha.

  • Gotta agree with you! IMO the game's biggest plot device was the discovery of Origami Killer's identity. When it revealed, it shocked most of the players, even me. So it has to be quite a challenge for the writer to edit the story for the wider audience and fans, who might check it out.

Oh, and have you ever tried the spiritual predecessor of Heavy Rain called Fahrenheit (goes by the name Indigo Prophecy in the US)?

  • Comment removed

  • I think the game experience of heavy rain is the reason I enjoyed everything about it so much, and the idea that anything could change if I made a mistake kept me on my toes, and a movie will always have a direct path. The only thing good I see from the Heavy Rain movie is if the developers get some more money to keep making terrific games.

  • @XxVicistxX I completely agree man ^_^

  • Heavy Rain as a movie!!!???!!! so happy but so sad at the same time!!!!! long live normand corbeil, best composer EVAR, and david cage... go write a book, lol

  • I have to agree dude i can't see how you can make a movie of heavy rain work, its a strange choice for a game film tbh. I have to say that i didn't think i would enjoy heavy rain but i gave it a shot and was hooked from the opening moments and couldn't put it down and its without doubt my game of 2010 :)

  • Talking untill 3:50 of this video :D!Meg, i agree with all these about heavy rain gaming expierience and what the game provides compared to a movie cause you can live inside this game instead of watching it but i think that the MOVIE is going to be worthy aswell as it was the game. The movie for me will depend on its ending and i would love to enjoy heavy rain as observer in cinema.Looking forward for it..I really appriciate your job and keep posting stuff.

  • Turning videogames into movies is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you lose what makes videogames unique. The interactivity is something only the game can offer and the feeling of immersion cannot be replicated. On that note, there are positives to videogames moving onto other media. Mainly to get more players hyped up for the sequel. Just look what they did for dead space (2 movies), halo( movie, comics, and book series), and world of warcraft (freaking whole mythological lore).

  • I hope the movie wouldn't be to similar to the movie "Crash". Also one thing i disliked about heavy rain is the horrible voice actors and that sorta eliminated the cinematic feel of the game to me.

  • A video of you talking about how excited you are for Uncharted 3 would be great 8). I for one can not wait!

  • Hey, great video. :)

and I was wondering what you would like to see in the next Quantic Dream game ?

like, are there any film genre's you would like to see them tackle ? (I think if they did horror that would be amazing ! )

and what you're opinion on Uncharted 3: Drakes deception are ?

anyway, great work. and keep it up ! :D

  • I think a movie of the game would be kinda good really. i would give my time to watch it

but in a way i cant see what they could do with the movie that they havnt already done in the game! so it could go either way really? ah i dunno

  • Movies based on games I believe is rather disheartening in general but the last two major game to movie announcements really gets under my skin, both Uncharted and Heavy Rain are wonderful in the medium they are currently in. To take either one and turn it into something else cheapens the franchise. Uncharted works so well because it is a mixture of all those great treasure hunting movies of yesteryear and turns them to into a well written interactive experience.

  • eh, as much as I loved heavy rain as a game I don't think the story is strong enough to carry a movie. So unless they get someone like christopher nolan to do it I foresee a disaster.

  • Agreed. Nathan Fillion needs to kick Walberghs butt and take back the part he was born for! Is your camera ok?

  • i understand exactly where your coming from with your opinion, people who havnt played the game will watch the movie, and if you watch the movie before playing the game the experience won't be as epic as us ps3 gamers who played it before.

  • You're such a pro at making amazing videos.

  • You "just heard " the news!? The premise of a Heavy Rain movie has been annoying me for ages! Without the things that made Heavy Rain brilliant (i.e the revolutionary game design) all that's left is just a reasonably good murder-mystery.

Alas, I don't know what annoys me more... this or the Shadow of the Colossus movie, directed by the Scorpion King guy, written by the Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li guy. Hollywood is ruining my liiiiife!

  • Oh my god, i can't believe it :D
