  • Cowherd isn't talking about sports success as a measure of a great sports city, he's talking about attitude and love of sports- all sports. Television ratings in Boston are terrible for any of the major championships if a Boston team isn't playing. Even ratings for the Olympics are terrible in Boston. In other words, Boston only loves Boston sports. That makes them a bad sports city. That's his point.

  • Lmao Collin is just jealous. Sure, the sox didnt make the playoffs. But the Rays or Yankees didnt do anything in the playoffs. Also, our Patriots went to the superbowl. The Bruins are in 2nd place. The sox are a totally different team this year. So take that back you bias over rated broadcaster bitch.

  • @x508gamingHD and The NEW YORK GIANTS beat the Pats AGAIN, Yankees and Giants > Red Sox Patriots

  • @x508gamingHD oh and the NEW YORK RANGERS are in first place in the east so New York > Boston

  • *(Continued) It is terrible when that happens to fans and I know you're just as dedicated to the Red Sox as I am to the White Sox. And I see this pain every year with the Cubs fans in this city. SO I am sorry and I hauled the post down. Lets agree on one thing: I hope neither of us have to live through that again :-)

  • $800,000 Total Payroll for Tampa Bay Rays :-) Ahhh HA HA HA! I'd take the PIZZA place too..Florida has AWFUL pizza..I could turn that around. Steven B I have to say I thought a bit about what I said and you ARE right. I am from Chicago and I remember 2005 and what was happening to US in the last weeks. That slide was terror like I've never felt particularly given the fact that we had such an unbelievably powerful team. We wrapped it up with a few days left but it WAS the worst. *(Continued)

  • Fuck You Colin. We are the most Fucking loyal fans ever. We don't watch other teams because we are loyal. Unlike other people us Boston Fans can deal with a loss. The Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots are some of the best teams in the country, if not the world. We have money because we are good. We don't buy our way into the playoffs. We earn our spot buy spending wisely and playing fair. Go tell a Boston fan that our teams are old to their face. Same with the disses. Fuck You.

  • @ChristopherSaindon Actually it's not. there has been worse. who cares if they collapsed. At least I'm not hopping in the bandwaggon unlike you. STFU

  • Redsox fans sorry but it will be nomore yankees vs redsox in the playoffs. The rays have Put a big foot in between that, Just because your team has money doesn't mean you can buy your way into the playoffs. And unless the rays switch divisions, you may see another 86 year curse. But I have respect for pedroia and jacoby, they seemed to be the only two who still played hard until the end

  • CC is a tool but he nailed this one especially part about Bruins hitting the lottery: needed 7 games and 3 OT wins to beat Montreal who was far and away worst team to make playoffs, then got to face Flyers who had half of team playing last month of season with injuries requiring offseason surgery, then needed 7 games to beat no-defense TB who only got to Conf Final because Pitt lost 2 superstars and Caps are always a paper tiger, then got to play talented but gutless Vancouver in Cup Final.

  • @industrialsun without question, the Bruins are the worst team to win the stanley cup since the lockout, maybe in the past 20 years

I won't take anything away from them. I like their history and Boston has passionate fans, hell, Bobby Orr was voted athlete of the century. over players like Bill Russell, Ted Williams and Drew Bledsoe. Bask in it, but just know, there is no way you win even the conference with a healthy pens or flyers team, an inexperienced tampa.

  • @grimetime55 In my lifetime only team weaker than 2011 Bruins to win Cup was 2006 Hurricanes. And maybe 1993 Habs. Good teams do not play down to the level of their opponents. Vancouver played disgracefully in Final and Boston still needed 7 games to beat them. This Bruins squad without Tim Thomas would be just like the roadkill that Avs became immediately after Roy retired in 2003. I also would have voted Orr as top athlete of century. The man did win 2 scoring titles as a DEFENSEMAN! Amazing!

  • Rays are exciting and thank you Baltimore.

  • Moral of the story, RED SOX CHOKED, STOP USING THE PAST TO JUSTIFY IT.

  • I actually like Boston as a sports town, and all of its teams outside the Celtics, but a lot of its fans are goddamn morons with no perspective. If the Rangers win, the state of Texas will have just as many professional sports championships as Massachusetts from 1999 through the present. That doesn't mean that I'm just going to shrug if they lose, and tell everyone else to kiss the rings. That's nutless and insincere.

  • One of the most AWESOME rants in the HISTORY of sports radio...HANDS DOWN!!!...haha LOVE IT!...Holla!:)

  • This coming from a man who verbally fellates Tom Brady on a near daily basis.

  • So true that Boston wont watch anything that isn't Boston. It drives me crazy.

  • hahahah when the yankees go to buy a championship we actually win

  • colin owned boston

  • Why wasn't a representative from OWNERSHIP doing the final press conference. Epstein shouldn't be fronting for the team at this point because he is #1 on the suspect list.

  • you can say what you want. we are the best sports city of the centrury, we have 7… count them 7 championships in 10 years. How much does your city have?

  • @jonathanlancer century? try the decade.

  • @jonathanlancer no one's doubting the success they've had, they've been the best sports city in the past 10 years but the Red Sox still collapsed, the Yankees choked in 2004 and people were making fun of them back then too, don't complain to me

  • @drdontcare123 guess what buddy. im from boston, and a huge boston sports fan. i could not give 2 shits about not making the playoffs this year. wanna know why? bc we won 2 in the past 7 years you obnoxious fcuk.

people who ARE NOT from New England think this is hilarious that the sox missed the playoffs. let me fill you in:

before 2004 it would have been another devastation, but now it doesnt really matter. people who blindly hate the boston care more about this than actual bostonians.

  • @grimeygoat27 well guess what, like I said before, the Red Sox still collapsed. That's great that you don't care, it doesn't make it any less significant. I already said in my previous post that Boston has been the best sports town in the past 10 years. You know who else doesn't care much about the collapse? Me, but like I said in the info, I thought what Cowherd said was funny and I don't even hate the Red Sox. And I'm the "obnoxious fcuk"?

  • @grimeygoat27 Haha you are exactly what Colin is talking about. Admit it, Boston has been owned recently. The Pats losing to the Jets in the playoffs, the Celtics, and now the Red Sox. This wasn't just another season, you guys had a monster team and everybody projected you to win the AL East. You didn't even make the playoffs. That is hilarious and don't even try to pretend that you don't care. This October you probably won't watch anybody because they aren't from Boston.

  • @grimeygoat27 You mean two championships in the last 92 years?

  • @grimeygoat27 LMAO the fact that you people apparently didn't care shows how fairweather a sports town Boston is. Only care when the teams are winning and blindly follow; it's disgusting.

  • @grimeygoat27 Scott Van Pelt and Ryen Russilo sure were mad and they showed Boston's true colors for the douches all Redsox fans are

  • @jonathanlancer I also recall Sox fans always saying the Yankees brag about their 27 world championships and "past accomplishments". Looks like they do the same thing these days huh? Lets talk about that 18-1 season the Pats had...

  • Comment removed

  • @jonathanlancer lol it's only been 11 years lol

  • @jonathanlancer It all boils down to one question "What have you done LATELY?" Red Sox, 2011 monumental collapse. Patriots up 21-0 on Buffalo, lose 34-31. The Bruins won the Stanley Cup, significant to the 37 die-hard hockey fans that actually exist in the United States perhaps.

  • @BatmanFan1966 your an embarrassment to yourself and thoughtful, intellectual discourse.

Look back on your comment and ask yourself if the single most recent Patriots game (and only that - according to your assessment) is enough of a barometer to determine that the Pats - apparently along with every other Beantown sports franchise - are no good.

You better chuckle when you look in the mirror, cus your a fcuking clown.

  • @grimeygoat27 Also, let me give you some advice. If your team sucks, talking about your teams history is pathetic, especially against a Yankee fan. The four major Boston teams combined have only seven more championships than the Yankees alone. You also have no right calling somebody an embarrassment to intellectual discourse when you don't know the difference between a century and a decade.

  • Comment removed

  • @jonathanlancer of the century????? haha we just started this century not too long . it won't end for another 89 years where the yankees can win another 27 rings hahaha

  • @jonathanlancer The Yankees are the most successful franchise of ALL-TIME and people got on them when they collapsed too.

  • @jonathanlancer

Boston best sports city of the century? Um, I believe New York City area teams have more titles than Boston.

Sure, Boston has 7 since the start of the new Millennium, but New York City area teams have 6 at the same time.

Also, overall Big Four Pro Sports Leagues titles won:

    NYC 59, BOS 34

  • @jonathanlancer So Boston teams have 7 championships in 10 years and you consider your city the best sports team of the CENTURY? You do know that a century is 100 years, don't you? The Yankees may have hit a bad patch but they alone have something like 25% of the championships in one century. How many does your city have? And how long was the Red Sox championship drought?

    BTW, you misspelled century.
