Picked up one last Sunday from a dealer in Southern California. It was a new "leftover" 2010 (only 10 miles on it - brand new).  With a 2K rebate I got it for $17,000 out the door. That's amazing for the level of equipment the GTS has (got the CVT). Its a great car for the money. Keep getting looks from everyone around town - people really notice it (and ignore cars like Civics since there's a ton of them out there).

@1waffleiron Its on the Mitsubishi USA website for the model where it describes the option packages available (and that one is the "Sun and Sound" package). Its not important - its just every website and every review I've read or listen to has called it a 10" subwoofer.

@davids7319 ... the roof starts sloping too soon unlike traditional hatchbacks. The Mazda 3, Impreza, and Matrix are much more versatile and larger cargo area.

23K is the base price shown but they sell for 17 which is what I paid for my GTS Sportback. This car is a great deal for 17K. Love it.

@pvpftwqwerty i've got one it's a good car, looks are great so is the audio system, it has a lot of space even in the back seats, previously i've owned a mitsubishi carisma, 320000 km and no major failures (once starter died and the AC compressor had to be changed), i believe this car should be durable. On the downside the it accelerates a bit slow (140HP), it weighs a lot

they could have put a little more thought into the rear design, it doesn't look right. from a side view, the rear looks awkward. I will admit I am an impreza owner, I might have actaully bought this instead. Don't think I'm bashing this car, I'm not. I will admit though, the sound system is probably better than my impreza

just got this car last weekend, i love it, i got one exactly like this one meaning, color, and the stereo system plus the leather. drives great, really good gas mileage, one thing he doesnt tlk about is the amazing warranty: 10 yr/ 100,000mi powertrain, and 5yr/ 60,000mi on everythin else

I saw this car in person yesterday (the base model). I didn't even bother looking at the sticker before I climbed into it because I thought it was out of my league price wise (27,000 to 30,000). I was very impressed with the interior even for it being a base model. Again it screamed out of my league. I got out the car and saw the sticker and had to go back and check the mileage on the car. The car had 9.5 miles on it and was tagged at $20,995. This is a great price for such a great car.

Have you seen this car in person or better yet sitting right next to a normal lancer? I just did today and if there is any difference in length at all it's very minimal maybe an inch or two but I'm pretty sure they are the same size. The only difference I saw body wise was the hatch and the rear bumper. And trust me I was looking for size differences. I'll admit on it's own it looks bigger but side by side you realize they are the same or so damn close that it doesn't matter.

@UvisionMedia, yes, and your right if it wasnt because i read in R&T that the sportback is just a bit bigger i would have thought they are exactly the same size, but still, its not a hatchback its a station wagon, look up the past lancer sportbacks, they are all station wagons, they are for moms, i wouldnt want to be driving one, i would very much prefer the lighter cooler looking normal lancer then the moms wagon

I've owned my far share of station wagons and this is not one. You don't really gain any more space behind the rear seat with the sportback. I couldn't put my dog back there without her having to be all smashed up and end out laying down the whole time. Just because you think it looks like a wagon and don't like it doesn't mean it is one. I'm sure the only reason for have the hatch is because you can lay the seats down flat and gain a ton of storage space easily accessed through the hatch.

your right about the space and the dog thing, thats why its such a dumb station wagon, and thats why i think there is better station wagon options for my mom. i hatch back should be shorter, lighter, sportier, compact, agile, smaller and practical, this one is non of those, its heavier, longer, useless, less sporty and it looks like a moms car, definitely a station wagon, the normal lancer is 100 times better looking. google images " 2004 lancer sportback" the true nature and roots of this car

Yes the 2004 lancer sportback is a wagon. That doesn't make the 2010 sportback a wagon. That's like saying the 2010 Chevy Malibu is a muscle car because the Malibu use to be a muscle car back in the day. Or let's use the Dodge Charger as an exampled. That use to be a killer muscle car and now is a for door pile of shit. The 2004 Sportback is considerably longer than a normal Lancer that's why that was a wagon. The 2010 is not. Ether way you choose to see it. It's a nice car. I'd take it.
