I am doing a project on leprosy right now for a college class. Your facts are wrong, leprosy does not cause the skin to rot and break away. It causes the nerves to become numb. This means that is someone gets a cut or burns a limb they don't feel it, and since it is most common in third world countries, this gets infected, and the infection can grow so severe that amputation is necessary. Also, this music was God awful. Simply horrible.
people shouldn't be so judgmental about leprosy. It's not very contagious and can be treated. Most of the population (95%) is immune anyway but people can have a genetic predisposition to be susceptible to leprosy. Once someone with leprosy is being treated he or she is no longer contagious. Leprosy affects nerve endings so if people get hurt they don't feel it and the wound goes unnoticed which is why they often lose limbs. Primates can also get leprosy. This isn't the middle ages. Get over it.
my dada was in tyland korea and vietnam. he said leporsy was there in the whores. dad was an army medic. he said many soldiers got sick, from the girls. if a girl was found out to be sick she would be sent away to the camp. (lepor colony) dad has a lot of war stories.this is the only one that scared me... he knew a girl, she was sick. got the guy before him sick and the guy after him sick. but not dad....
acid fast bacilli means it is decolourized by sulphuric acid after dyeing with red dye. it does not mean that acid fast bacilli r those that affect nerves or bone.

That's just not true. Leprosy is caused by a bacterial infection that attacks the nerves and thickens the skin. It's treatable with antibiotics. Genetics really has little to do with it.

this disease is genetic in origin--about 95% of humans are immune--the best cure would be to sterilize all lepers
