Mandela went to prison because he like Mahatma Gandhi used nonviolence as a method. Therefore he was not killed cuz in those the brutality was not harsh. While Mandela was in prison the Apartheid regime started killing, yes children. Mandela did not know what to do so the ANC alterd method. The ANC was chased out of South africa and lived in exile in neighbouring countries. The Apartheid regime attacked these countries forcing them to kill South africans.
