I just captured some video with my FZ28 but it is in MOV format. How do convert it into a YouTube Friendly format?

@realtorfelipe You can upload in MOV right to youtube. But if you want to be sure it will be HD (it is maybe not important this time), you can download virtualdub, some mov plugin for it, ffdshow codec and save it with H264 codec. This is one youtube uses.

1)how does the camera perform on macro shooting?

1) Macro has a good results too. It can be even 0 cm from the lenses (but than it's way too dark), it's sharp and aberation is not too big. FZ-28 at all is very effective at aberration.

2) Yes, sure. But then the distance to get photographed object sharp is than much bigger. It's small tele-macro.

Automatic zoom works to 5 or 10 cm from the photographed object. For smaller distance I use manual-focusing.

i dont need autofocus. i would go manual for more accurate pictures but i am afraid of the shadows if i will have to put the lense too close to the object.

It's true, this is very good camera! I am amazed mainly at it's wide use - it has wide 28mm view and 18x zoom too. It can capture videos as well. And the price is quite low.

Before some time I thought about using manual focus at every photo, but I think using manual focus at large distances doesn't have sence. Autofocus is then more accurate and useful than manual focus.

everyone agree that FZ28 is a great outdoors camera and i seen some examples of macro shoots that were really close to DSLR's.

the good thing with FZ28 is that gets external filters easily. The release date of FZ35/38 is very close by the way so i better wait a while!

in fz28, you can zoom while taking videos. you can use the 18x optical zoom and when you keep zooming the digital zoom will activate and it will go as far as 72x. you will need a tripod though but with its image stabilzer, it's not that bad.

I didn't use stripod because I tested the stabilizator too. It is my firtst cam width optical stabilization and it is amazing - it is helpful a lot in taking video, when I zoomed a lot or even at taking few-second long sharp-looking macro-shot.

I haven't used digital zoom already few years - it can be modified later on the computer.

Its often one click thing, but you must have right software. Exellent is total video converter, but it is not freeware. If you want freeware, there is nothing simpler than google "mov to avi converter" or "mov to wmv converter" etc.

I can fill the whole card but one video shouldn't be bigger than 2 MB, that is in average something about 8 min 20 sec. This is because of FAT16 system of files. :(

Yes. But every video has to be max 2 GB big.

Yes, but with other microphone - this sound is mono and completetly without high range.

Its a nice camera, but the video function will remain gimmicky until Panny stops using Motion Jpeg video & mono audio. I can live with the huge Motion Jpeg files since I usually export the finished video project to H.264 anyway, but the audio is pretty much unusable. You cant get around that.

Converting from mono to Stereo does not make any difference, the source must be stereo to hear the great difference

But thy only way how to convert mono to stereo isn´t copying one track into each channel.

yes but the problem is that the source is mono, duplicating the channel wont make a single difference.

A true stereo sound makes a huge different, watch some SX1 footage on youtube (I have a few posted on my channel, youll understand)

well yeah, the sony is specifically designed to shoot videos, so it will have better video quality. this camera does take good videos but its main focus is image quality which i must say is also superb. if you are look fo dual functionality witrh both great images and video then get this camers, but if you are solely looking for good video quality then get a sony or the new JVC camcorder

I have Sony DCR-SR200 camcorder. it's crazy because i kept using it to take videos then i found out that my Panasonic FZ28 has better video quality. Bigger and it's .mov format(better quality). The DCR-SR200 is producing .mpeg files only with 720x480 while the FZ28 is 1280x720.
