@TAURUS11051970 To be fair, Elsa isn't a heavy Wagner role- it has been done by fuller type lyrics and doesn't require an enormous voice like other role (Ortrud is another story- need a honker of a voice for that one!). I think this performance is OK, but I agree that she sounds better in Mozart type repertoire.

I have seen her live in Bayreuth. She was not so bad, but she is not an Elsa to remember. And in Bayreuth we should have a more extraordinary Elsa. Her acting was not bad - but singing is important - not acting.

By the way, the conductor is not a Wunderkind. He did never get the Kontrapunkt right. Schade.

@SimonWarnecke - Nein, es ist nicht unverschämt das zu sagen, noch dazu wenn es die Wahrheit ist!!! Dasch ist mit einer Rolle wie Elsa ganz einfach intellektuell und emotional überfordert, ganz abgesehen davon, dass ihr Klangfarbenreichtum und Strahlkraft fehlen. Aber in Bayreuth handeln die Verantwortlichen schon seit Jahren nach dem Grundsatz: "Wozu brauchen wir erstklassige Besetzungen, wenn wir bei zweit- bis drittklassigen auch alle Karten verkaufen können..., William
