  • What a landing!!

  • Can;t wait till I become a pilot!

  • Excellent vid, thanks for the HK locations and a perfect landing

  • There was a few reasons that it was being (or was) closed down.

#1 - Full of airplane Traffic. Many people want to visit Hong Kong, and it was too small to handle so much...

#2 - Dangerous Location. If you look at its location in this city, you'll understand why. It was very difficult to land at the airport, especially in bad weather conditions. Look at YouTube videos.

#3 - Crowded. Many buildings could not reach a certain number of stories, and it was dangerous to fly over tall buildings...

  • Hey, What happened to the old Kai Tak airport? I have heard about the new construction of Hong Kong airport.. can someone tell me whats up?

  • @boeing737d Hong Kong Kai Tak is closed since 1998...

  • @fernousdu972 oh, wow. So, does it closed for some reason or its old airport or what?

  • what airline is this and the origin

  • @zebraxman origin as in where did you fly from

  • which window seat is it?

  • If there's one thing I have to say I don't like is flying through a thick cloud bank especially at night. I just don't like the helpless falling/shaking feeling. But nice video and great quality.

  • Colinfirst...002 ?

  • the touch down starts at 3:47

  • Congratulations. Excellent video

  • perklele tuli orgasmi

  • @LammmHD As a kid I always go to HK to see my parents - my father worked for MOD within the British Government. The first time I went there summer 1976 during my school holiday I was scared when the plane I was in went down that I thought it was going to crash into these flats until it landed on the runway which come out into the sea.

I know very well that it was the old Kai Tak which I miss very much and I know most people will miss it very much too. RIP Kai Tak.

  • The 747 Is so awesome, it's my favourite 'Double Decker' ;)

  • i dont want to go to hong kong.........period.

  • Nice video. You are lucky.

  • Great shots! Many altitudes on the descent-could also experience the varying perception relative to altitude. It was fun seeing the spoilers and slats-the flight control surfaces at work, and the many families on board seemed happy to arrive! Hong Kong looks like a beautiful city. I never heard of the two bridges the Tsing Ma looks very long a lot like the Golden Gate Bridge San Francisco. Nice labeling! A very interesting video to watch overall, thank you for sharing!

  • i know way better, makes u kinda feel like ur in the plane...

  • wow awesome landing !

  • great landing. love the landmarks you placed into the video

  • The red solid point appear in the video ,

Is that the camera's GPS functionality? ?

  • Camera's have GPS now?!

  • I guess...

    But what is it???????

  • Yep, recently I bought a Sony DSC-T90 the one which has touch screen. They sell an accesory which you conect to the camera, when you take a picture it records the exact position where you took it, as what you saw in this video. This accesory costs about AUD250 plus the camera -AUD550- It's not worth of money.

  • Oh,i see!

  • the british accents talking in the background are sexy.

  • wow your lucky.. flights coming from the south dont get to fly over the city

  • lol i no if you fly from the south all you see is mountains and sea, every time i go hong kong i always wish that it would fly fly over they city and land on that side of the runway but this is only occasionally...

  • I have flown on the A380 once!! lovely A/C but in no comparison with the A330!! lol

I pilot the A330 for Cathay Pacific and it is a pleasure to fly compared to other planes i flown before!

  • Comment removed

  • "Big Cloud" Lol!

  • what is the digital camera or video camera made your fantastic video ?

  • WOW!! that was a great landing for such a large and heavy aircraft.

I have flown on the A380 twice recently, and I must say, the landing gear is to hard which leads to hard and bumpy landings. Boeing rules!

  • Wow...twice. I didnt even get a look at it yet. Lols.

  • Its lufthansa, look at the yellow seat at 0:05

  • that was an excellent landing!

    Great video

  • TBRaysTORapots, it's just water vapor.

  • what airline is this?

  • Probably Lufthanse, due to the white wings. And the engines are not RR, There are no Lufthansa-747 with RR. Also, there is no sign on the winglet. That also indicates, that this is a Lufthansa jet.

  • Whats coming out of the wing at 3:00?

  • its lift u can see the air foil in work

  • Thoes are flaps most passenger planes have them.

  • he means the white air streaks not the flaps

  • I landed in HK 11 days prior to this and brings back some good memories

  • nice man where did you depart from on this flight?

  • lol..big cloud

  • nice , what model camera used in vid??

  • it says at the end

  • Woah wats your computer specs!! Jk Great video and i rate it 5*!

  • beatiful video thenk's i rate 5 stars and it's not always

  • qantas

  • Lufthansa

  • i am not sure if qantas got 747 with pratt & whitney engines, do they have with those? i can't remember, but maybe ur right :S

  • yea they have PW, GE but not sure about RR

  • qantas has RRs on the normal 747s and GEs on the 747-400ERs...

  • OHH ok thanks!

  • Excellent Video

  • love the clouds

  • super 5 stars

  • awesome city, awesome airport, awesome video!

  • Nice thx for sharing

  • awsome 5 Star

  • Landing in HK is always an emotion :)

  • These HD vids are so cool to watch!

  • smooth landing

  • What's the usual final approach speed for a 747-400? Thanks. . ..

  • Between 140 and 160 knots. Depends how heavy the plane is and what settings the pilot uses (flaps)

  • Yeah. Thanks, that's weird though that it has a lower final approach speed than the MD-11. . .

  • AFAIK the md11 has a pretty high landing speed due to its rather small wings compared to its weight. Its landing speed can sometimes be at 170 knots...

  • omg going on this plane in lees that a month to hong kong

  • wow that was amazing 5* but to bad my gfx card couldn't handle the end of the video idk why but everything else was smooth, but the landing, laggy laggy, stupid gfx card but 5*

  • Looks like a British Airways 747-400 with RR Engines to me!

  • From the design of the cabin it looks like Lufthansa. Im guessing.

  • I wanna fly too... =l

    Thanks for sharing!

  • excellent vid.

  • verrrrry clear video, i love hd, nice vid

  • great landing in hong kong. challenging...

  • yh especially if Kai-Tak was still open!

  • i love it when the clouds are scattered like that. hong kong airport is a nice place to land .... HD makes a big difference, it almost looks like your their yourself :D

  • haha by the way you can use &fmt=22 now!

    Good landing 25R :)

  • airline?

  • Let's see, it's a 747-400 with GE engines and works on the North Satellite terminal already started so it has to be in 2007 when ANA and Air France already switched from 747-400 to 777. My guess therefore is either JAL, EVA or Thai.

  • JAL has Japans red dot on the wing tips. But these wing tips are plain white so JAL is off the list.

EVA AIR wing tips are green not white

Thai wing tips are purple so it cant be it.

So my final guess is that its Lufthansa.

  • Gd analysis. Between us, we solved it, didn't we! We'd make a great team for forensic planespotting.

  • Lets step it up a knotch. Lets go solve the Ramsey murder.

  • Deal. And then onward to big bang singularity :)

  • WTF haha!

  • You got it right ;)
