Honestly,i have a paradoxical feeling for the liberian people.I do however believe they should not overlook the help of Ghanaians.Remember,Ghana is a third world country as well, they do need help from abroad as well and therefore liberians can't expect them to provide more than the human basic necessities !
I have sent hundreds and hundreds of dollars to people in this refugee camp. And even after I send enough to send two people home they still ask for money. What can I alone do to help? I still support two young adults who are not allowed to work in the camp. I am now unemployed and sick with a failing heart. I did what I could and my my Master have mercy on those I could not help. The singing was beautiful and I would love to hear more.
Ghana is a developing country itself.. They havent even sorted out internal problems. The best Ghana can do is what it has done. Giving foreigners a place to settle and await the war to subside in their country. Maybe the refugees should leave the buduburam camp and settle in local ghanaian communities because Ghana is not known to restrict movements. Instead of staying in the buduburam camp.
Yes they should ask for money to help them go home but it need to come from the UN and the liberian government . lasly they should be asking for 50-100 dollars per family . after all they came to ghana with nothing so what stopping them from going home with nothing and starting all over again...IF u really want to go home money wont stop you! one thing is for sure ghana owes them nothing!
chaley , they are not small oh!1000 u.s$ dollar to go back to their country ..lol they need to get real, who do they expect to give them that money . it better not be ghana!
me, who has been in ghana - in buduburam - , i whish to express that i feel a deep respect for people, who are fighting for their basic rights. don t forget, there has been a brutal and bloody civil war in liberia. liberian people in ghana stay there as refugees. and even refugees must have rights. now the war in liberia is over, but all their belongings in liberia are destroyed. to get some money, from the un, not from ghana, to start a new life with, could be a solution
..Though, as refugees, liberian people are not allowed to earn money in ghana. sure, they could feel glad that they are allowed to stay in ghana.
but thats the point, they are fighting for a full acceoted status, education for their kids, possibilty to work, fair judgement in case of trouble and so on...and this a thing not only refugees in ghana have to fight with, it is a worldwide problem...
Let me see if i understand this. They ran from their country because they were afraid of dying. Then then reside in Ghana as refugees. The Situation has changed in Liberia and it is now safe for them to return home. however they are contending that they need assistance to rebuild their lives and that Ghana or the UN should finance their repatriation. My question is: Where is the Liberian Government Responsibility???? What role should the Liberia play in the resettlement of their citizens?
if we do agree that refugees who want or are forced to be resettled to their countries of origin should get a financial aid --- where shall this money come from?
am a bit confused with this video. They want money to return back to Liberia to start a life, and at the same time they are complainig that the Ghanaian community is not treating them right? So what are they really protesting for? What differece will it make if they take all their belongins back to liberia?

Get up and do some work. The refugees dont like to do any hard work. When you talk to them, most of them want big capital to start businesses.
We are conducting research on their situation to see what we can do to help.
