I noticed that there is always someone named Stephen Rhodewell on this version of Tom and Jerry but whatever.

I quite like this era although Chuck Jones is my favourite(it's a hella lot better than those Road Runner cartoons though I really like Bugs Bunny episodes) it's amusing and I like seeing Tom and Jerry as friends from time to time (I blame that 1992 movie)

Another thing to mentioned I think Filmation Era is worse than Gene Deitch, the latter is so so for me

Brings back good memories. This same theme was used for the Tom and Jerry/Grape Ape Show and the Mumbly Cartoon Show, but I always knew it best as just the T & J theme...one of the first songs I learned on keyboards. :)

I never saw this version of Tom and Jerry (Apparently CNAsia RARELY airs it) so I can't really say whether I like it or not

Though that opening is absolutely freaky but I'm freaky so yeah...

Still though I prefer Chuck Jones version the best

Deitch shorts are gladly in my area cancelled 90% of them are horrible (Only thing halfway decent are the cartoon kit and Calypso Cat)

Why did they hired C. Nicholes? This show sucked and the animation is ass. Such as Tom and Jerry's eyes and mouths are too small. I loiked them with wider eyes and mouths.

This version might not be as good as the MGM originals, but at least this one is more preferable than the horrible Gene Deitch versions (maybe except one episode called "Tom and Jerry Cartoon Kit"...which is decent).

This one is also better than the so-called "Tom and Jerry Comedy Show" (which like the Gene Deitch version...Tom always loses ._. ), Tom and Jerry Kids, the Chuck Jones version (also better than Gene Deitch), and Tom and Jerry Tales.

One reason I prefer these to the originals is that the originals sometimes were totally appropriate. The cartoons Springtime for Thomas, Smitten Kitten, Heavenly Puss & Sufferin' Cats all had devils in them & being a Christian I don't approve of that. The cartoons Solid Serenade & Pet Peeve each have an instance where Tom Tricks Spike & Spike is shown w/ the head of a donkey, also known as an ass & ass isn't a very nice word.

@Stephen10528 I just had this conversation with someone today. What people now don't understand is that the original shorts were made for adults. Not children. When they were sold to tv, thats when they discovered that it appealed to children. So, use your judgement when showing the classic shorts to kids. Warner Bros has released edited versions on DVD. Even then, because of your religion, I would watch them b4 showing them. The tv series was aimed at kids so it is "safe" to show.

@Stephen10528 Ok. But that's your opinion. I personally see nothing wrong with these cartoons and I let my son watch them all the time. We live in a society that you can choose to watch it or not. While I think this is harmless, (Using the devil as a metaphor and not actually saying it's Satan) I can understand how some people might get offended by it. To me, the biggest crime is they edit the original shorts. I think they should be aired uncut and for an adult audience.

I definitely preferred this series to the Tom & Jerry cartoons of Chuck Jones, Gene Deitch, and the DREADFUL Filmation cartoons. M-G-M wisely put Tom & Jerry back in the hands of their creators from their Oscar-winning days at M-G-M, Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera. Although now really aimed at a kids audience and not as well-written as the 1939-1958 M-G-M shorts, at least T & J were recognizeable as the classic characters.
