I was at this level with 4 lives then I died 4 times by dropping down the bottom. Later, I figured I can get 2 extra lives by encountering enemy on the map.
I'm glad they removed that first part... like I'd ever be able to figure that out! Up until I saw this video, i still thought you had to keep going left! No wonder I kept dying!
thanks for posting this...that part with the folding platforms is ridiculous and there's no way i'm doing the first part of the albatross over and over to get 3 chances to try and find my way through that stupid sky maze.
it doesn't help that the health bar obstructs your view of some of the platforms.
@coodoo17 This is the way almost all games were in the nintendo era, hard as shit and not very rewarding aside from knowing you beat it and your friends didn't lol.
haha, you seem to have issues with the electric floor currents. i did as well at first. you basically cant be swinging past them because most times you fly up to the level you previously dropped from and it will bang into the one up there. you need to just hang and it let it go under ya, then run again, hang straight, run, repeat.

if you tap down just as you release your swing it shortens the swing so you don't get hit from the one above
