My previous fennec would sit in the window and got exicted one time when a couple of kids excitedly ran by the window at my old place.

Actually they nibble and bite, wag their tail, and make those "squealy" noises when they're happy or excited. If it was scared or terrified it would bite and leave a mark. The small bites are "love" bites like your cat or dog does when they play. Foxes don't purr and bark..they squeak. XD But still, this is a very happy fox and seems to really enjoy the child.

@xXxEmoRawrXx Fennec foxes make a humming noise similar to the purr of a cat, as well as everything else you mentioned. There's a video somewhere on Youtube called, "Fennec fox emits a strange noise", or something to that extent. You should check it out; it really is quite cute. ^_^

Yes, I can vouch from personal experience that fennec foxes are one of the most vocal canines of any I've ever seen, especially for something other than a dog. I've seen fennecs jumping for joy to see me, running towards me squeaking and whining before proceding to lick my fingers and rub against my arm.

It is not terrified. If it was, it would be hiding in the corner with its ears flat against its head and not even go near the child. If you all think that because the whining it's making means that it's scared, you're wrong. These fennecs are very vocal, so it is natural for them. For your information RoHaMun, all animals nip when they're playing. If it was biting the child they would know it.
