I have an E2180 and a cheap G31M-ES2L with a CM Hyper TX3, and I got 3.40 GHz @ 1.43v (340x10), cheap markvision memory ddr2-667 running at 905 5-7-7-20 @ 1.9v. this is not enough to eliminate the bottleneck on my GTX550 heheh, i will buy an i5 2500k soon.

@MynamedidntFitDonkey if you investigate several hours about your computer components, read daily overclocking forums and have some software for monitoring temperatures, voltages and proper cooling in your case, you should be fine :)

i'm seeking help for my motherboard evga nvidia nforce 780i SLi ready. I am trying to over my system but i want to know what else i need to overclock my system without crashing everytime.
Disagree. The idea of overclocking is to get better performance from your computer. Unstability comes from low voltage and most of the mainboards provide the user the option to increase voltage to cpu, ram, chipset, etc. This generates more heat, but take into consideration that an overclocker will always get a ventilated case, extra coolers and extreme users go with water cooling solutions. For my test I used a U$10 cooler for the cpu.
Easytune came on a package deal CD that I got when I ordered my gigabyte motherboard from newegg. I messed with it, but didn't think it worked right so I went the bios route. OBVIOUSLY I wasn't doing it right, thanks.
Worry about the stability once you get a good heat sink. Also if your board can't OC then Easy tune overclocking tab will be greyed out. So if you really still want to overclock google SetFSB.
Hey mate I have a E2180 and a 8500GT (going to be replaced with a HD4850 soon) But I was wondering If I should just overclock my cpu instead of buying a new one?
I am pretty sure that a dual 2.7 will do mighty fine with any game I throw at it unless its that computereating game Crysis xD
Mate don't bother overclocking that cpu of yours the fact that it only has 1mb cache which is very low compare to todays standards. If I were you I would get a core 2 duo e6600 or a quad and you can overclock it further to 3ghz.
It has a factory multiplier of 10X. It cannot be increased, however, it can be changed between 6X-10X to achieve several overclocking configurations.
Right now, I have it running at 333FSB x9 multiplier = 3.0ghz
It also works very well at 400FSB x 8 = 3.2ghz giving a 1:1 ratio with memories at 800MHZ.
It needs a lot of voltaje to pass the 400 FSB wall and it's not recommended in low-range processors and it does not give a performance worth the effort.
I do use bios mainly for overclocking, this was just having fun :)
Check the voltajes and multipliers in the video, I had set voltajes high and ram multipliers very low in bios before attempting to do 1.5 ghz overclock in windows.
No! That doesn't happen! There are thousands of people with a clock speed of over 3.00 Ghz and plus, Yoor 32-bit Windows can't all of a sudden magically change to 64-bit. If you for some reason want a 64-bit version of windows - (Maybe because you need to use more than 4GB of ram, or maybe because you are someone who needs the full power of the cpu, ie. you use programs which do intense calculations) - You need to go along and buy it! 32-bit windows can't just change into a 64-bit version!!!
At stock the X2, overclocked the e2180 which can usually run at 3GHz on pretty much stock volts. 3.2GHz is fairly easy to achieve. Mine can run 100% stable at 3.4GHz@1.5V. The e5200 only costs a tad more and is pretty much guarenteed 3.4 - 3.6 on a decent mobo.
Buy intel if you are planning to get an quadcore or a E7000 or E8000 series, otherwise get an AMD dualcore 4800+ or similar that are better than the E2000 series.
In reply to your question, 3ghz will be safe with vcore=1.325 as much.
You can also get to 3.2ghz with 1.35v that is still safe, but you may need an efficient cooling system.

Saludos.
